Chapter 102 - Chapter 101: The Plague is Lifted

Sacrificing a hundred thousand lives?

And then resurrecting Zeref?

So this Necromancer is actually a fanatic of Zeref—

"Honestly, in the end, I still can't avoid getting involved with that guy?"

Hearing Zeref's name, Weston felt instinctively irritable.

Because of his interference, the current Fairy Tail has no connection with Zeref at all.

Mavis won't be cursed by Ankhselam for using Law, won't be made into Fairy Heart by Precht, and won't become a tool for Zeref's future "Evolution".

A future without Zeref, everything seemed so wonderful.

Unexpectedly, he still couldn't ignore the existence of this final boss.

"How irritating!"

The more Weston thought about it, the angrier he got. His gaze pierced through the dark green poisonous barrier and landed on the Necromancer.

The Necromancer was slowly retreating under the cover of the poisonous barrier, clearly knowing he was no match for Weston and planning to flee.

"Trying to escape?"

"Do you think you can?!"

Since he couldn't find Zeref right now, and even if he did, he likely couldn't win, he would naturally vent his foul mood on this Necromancer.

At this thought, Weston's eyes turned cold. He swiped his fingers in the air, condensing the character for "Wind".

In the next second.

The magic circle opened, a gale roared, and in the blink of an eye, the poisonous barrier was blown away completely.

"What's happening?!"

Hearing the commotion behind him, the fleeing Necromancer was first stunned. Once he realized what had happened, his expression changed drastically, nearly scared to death.

"Not good!!"

Before the screams here could stop, Weston had already made his move.

He stomped hard on the ground, his body springing forward like a cheetah, not even leaving an afterimage.

In a flash, he appeared behind the Necromancer.

His raised fist radiated a golden magical glow.

"Fairy's Crushing Fist!!!"

Weston swung his fist, slamming the Necromancer heavily into the ground.

Boom—!!!

The powerful force caused the ground to crack severely, and everything within a radius of hundreds of meters collapsed, forming a giant pit dozens of meters deep.

It was truly earth-shaking and world-shattering!

After a long time, the dust settled.

Warrod waved away the dust with his hand and stepped forward.

"Is he finished?"

"Yeah, wait for me a moment."

Weston kicked the unconscious Necromancer at his feet. After confirming he had no strength to resist, he squatted down and pressed a hand against his forehead.

"Super Ancient Document: Information Retrieval!"

Weston didn't have any strange hobbies; he simply wanted to find the method to lift the plague from the man's memories.

This "Information Retrieval" appeared on the surface to be a reversal of another Super Ancient Document magic, "Information Implantation," but in reality, the principles of the two were worlds apart—

"Information Implantation" compresses magic information and shoves it into someone's head; "Information Retrieval" is essentially a type of "Memory Magic."

Soon, the retrieval yielded results.

"Found it!"

Weston opened his eyes and stood up to look at Warrod: "By using Sheng-Sheng Grass, Marigold, and Earth-Eating Worm, we can neutralize the Corpse Poison this guy dumped in the upstream river."

Warrod was overjoyed at the news: "That's great! Let's head back quickly and have Dr. Grisha prepare the antidote!

"

"Let me finish first!"

Weston shook his head, stopping Warrod. "What I just said was the prescription to neutralize the Corpse Poison."

"But have you forgotten? The residents of the downstream Towns and villages aren't poisoned; they've caught a plague. This method might not be effective!"

"Ah? There's a difference? Wasn't this plague caused by this guy's poison?"

Warrod blinked, showing he couldn't understand.

Weston explained: "He did poison the water, but as the toxins spread along the river, they were greatly diluted. That's why the residents' final symptom is a plague infection rather than poisoning."

"If I'm not mistaken, the residual toxins damaged a certain part of the human immune system, which is why everyone became infected with bacteria."

Warrod didn't understand medical knowledge and only had a vague grasp of Weston's analysis, but he trusted Weston's judgment: "So what should we do now?"

"Collect Sheng-Sheng Grass, Marigold, and Earth-Eating Worm nearby, make the antidote, and dump it into the upstream river to neutralize the toxins in the water."

"Once the poison is gone, the ecosystem along the river will slowly recover on its own, and the situation in the downstream Towns and villages won't worsen."

"As for the plague itself, I believe the doctors in each town and village will have a way."

Warrod nodded vigorously: "Understood, then let's get moving now!"

The source of the river had been poisoned by the Necromancer for a long time, severely affecting the surrounding ecosystem. Completely eradicating the toxins from the water was not something that could be done with just one or two vials of antidote.

Fortunately, both Weston and Warrod were strong and energetic young men. Although collecting herbs and making the antidote was arduous and troublesome, it didn't stump them.

The two worked until the evening of the next day, finally producing enough antidote to fill several barrels.

Afterward, they poured the antidote into the river source, letting it flow downstream, and then took some to sprinkle along the banks. Watching the toxic gas dissipate and the surrounding ecosystem return to its original state, they finally sighed in relief.

Once the problem at the river source was resolved, the Council's Detention Squad arrived.

Weston finished explaining the entire process of the plague to the Council people and handed over the half-dead Necromancer to them to be taken back to the Council for custody. Only then did he and Warrod return to Magnolia with peace of mind.

A few days later, thanks to the "toxic river water" they brought back, Dr. Grisha finally developed a specific medicine for the disease, bringing a comforting conclusion to the plague.

In the guild, the Mages, who had regained their energy, surrounded Weston and Warrod, celebrating with a feast.

"To the rebirth of Magnolia and Fairy Tail, cheers!!"

"Ohhh!!!"

After the toast, everyone began to express their feelings.

"The matter is finally completely resolved."

"During those few days, I was really worried I wouldn't make it. Luckily, Dr. Grisha developed the specific medicine in time and saved my life. Thinking back now, it's really terrifying—"

"Hey, have you heard? Because Dr. Grisha solved this plague, he's not only been nominated for the 'Kingdom of Fiore's Best Doctor' award, but he also got a girlfriend and plans to get married in half a year."

"Really?!! Tell us more—"
