Chapter 2 - chapter two: Yale University.

As they cruised through the iconic gateway of Yale University, the campus unfolded like a picturesque postcard, its beauty and grandeur almost palpable. Luna's eyes widened, drinking in the majestic Gothic architecture, lush green lawns, and serene atmosphere that seemed to whisper 'welcome home'.

Erica's grip on the steering wheel tightened, her heart swelling with pride as she glanced at Luna, sensing the excitement and nervousness that hung in the air like a gentle mist. Stephanie's eyes sparkled with amazement, her gaze darting between the stunning buildings and Luna's awestruck expression.

The sound of students chatting, the scent of old libraries, and the vibrant energy of academic pursuit filled the air, a heady mix that seemed to intoxicate Luna's senses. Erica's thoughts drifted to the countless dreams that had unfolded within these hallowed walls, and she felt a sense of hope for Luna's own journey.

As they turned onto College Street, the charming mix of old and new buildings, cafes, and bookstores caught Luna's eye, her gaze darting from one wonder to the next. Stephanie pointed out the impressive Sterling Memorial Library, and Luna's eyes widened in shock, imagining the treasures within.

The scenic views of the Grove Street Cemetery and the nearby Old Campus added to the allure, a poignant reminder of the rich history and tradition that Yale embodied. Erica's emotions swirled with pride, nostalgia, and a hint of sadness as she pulled into the drop-off zone.

The moment of truth had arrived, and Erica's voice trembled as she whispered words of encouragement to her blossoming daughter. "You've got this, Luna. The world is yours for the taking."

Luna's eyes locked onto Erica's, a silent understanding passing between them. And then, with a quiet determination, she gathered her belongings, her hand hesitating on the door handle...

The air was thick with unspoken emotions as Luna stepped out of the car, her eyes scanning the bustling drop-off zone. Erica's heart ached as she watched her daughter take her first steps towards independence, the weight of their impending separation settling heavy on her chest.

Stephanie emerged from the car, her eyes shining with unshed tears as she enveloped Luna in a tight hug. "You'll do great, Lu," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Luna's smile was a brave attempt to mask her own emotions, but Erica saw the glimmer of uncertainty in her eyes. She pulled Luna into a crushing hug, the familiar scent of her daughter's hair filling her senses.

"I'll be fine, Mom," Luna whispered, her voice muffled against Erica's shoulder.

Erica's voice cracked as she pulled back, her hands framing Luna's face. "I know you will, sweetie. You're strong, smart, and capable. Remember, no matter where life takes you, you'll always have a home here."

The words hung in the air, a promise and a blessing, as Luna nodded, her eyes shining with determination. With a final squeeze of Erica's hand, she turned, her backpack slugging over her shoulder, and walked away, disappearing into the sea of fresh faces and bright futures.

Erica's gaze lingered on the spot where Luna vanished, her heart heavy with a mix of pride and longing. Stephanie's hand slipped into hers, a comforting presence as they watched the students swarm the campus, their laughter and chatter, a symphony of possibility.

The moment stretched out, a poignant reminder that nothing stays the same, and that sometimes, letting go is the greatest act of love.

Moments later, as Luna walked out from the drop off zone with her luggages, she made her way in, to the residential hall. Walking inside the school residential hall, she felt an energy of rich and wealthy aspirants who were presently there. she Sensed the aura of each student as though all were coming from different rich and prestigious family. Indeed Yale University, is a school of luxury.

Looking around, she saw the reception office while she moved her feet as she made her way to that direction. " Hey miss, how many I help you". Mrs diva, the receptionist who was presently there spoke out as she smiled widely. " Uhmm....I mean....hi..I...I am Luna. Luna Grey, a freshmen. Luna stammered.

" Look, it completely okay to feel that way. I get it. Mrs diva said, still smilling. " Anyway, miss Luna Grey, please sign in here and fill this up, so that I will check you in and handle you your dorm room swiping card and number. She added.

After Luna was done, Mrs diva handles Luna her the room swiping card which also contains her dorm number. " You are welcome to the Yale University, miss Luna Grey and have a nice day" Mrs diva said as she turns her gaze to luna, with a bright smile. " Thanks" Luna replied as she smiled back at her.

Luna made her way in to the elevator, she couldn't help but felt a bit breathless about the whole beautiful scenery. As she sighted her dorm room and advanced immediately towards the direction, she suddenly bumps into a stunning lady. Her slender legs, beautiful eyes and delicate face was something that one can gasp, upon witnessing such.

" I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to do this. Please accept my apologies". Luna said as she kept bowing down in apology, thinking that she would cause a fuss but she didn't.

" Hey, it okay. You don't really need to apologize that way. I'm totally good". She said slowly with a slight smile on her face. " You must be a fresher here?" She asked

" Of course I am" Luna replied, as she smiled, opining her upper teeth. Her face was weirdly uncomfortable, though she promised her self not to engage anymore problems with rich kids.

" You can always be comfortable around me and by the way, I am Cassandra and you are ...

" Ohh yeah, I am Luna, Luna Grey.

" This must be your dorm" Cassandra said as she pointed out, on seeing the direction where Luna was heading to. Luna nodded her head in affirmation upon hearing Cassandra. " Mine is the one at the opposite" she added as she pointed. " We must be facing each other" Luna spoke out in surprise.

" Anyway it nice meeting you Luna Grey" Cassandra said as she extended her right hand with a smile.

" It's nice meeting you too dear" Luna replied as she smiles back.

Opening room 305 as her dorm room, the moment she made her way in, she was totally astonished. The dorm room was a spacious sanctuary, bathed in the warm glow of afternoon light streaming through the window. Plush beige carpet softened her footsteps as she entered, and the walls, adorned with tasteful art pieces and shelves of leather-bound books, whispered of refinement. A sleek, modern desk sat beneath the window, paired with a plush velvet chair, inviting hours of study and contemplation. The bed, a statement piece with a rich mahogany frame and sumptuous linens, seemed fit for royalty. A petite chandelier sparkled above, casting a warm, golden light on the space.

This was a room where young minds were meant to flourish, surrounded by comfort and elegance – a perfect haven for Luna to call her own. she sat on the comfy bed that was bouncy, she gently unpacked her clothes and dressed them accordingly in the wardrobe. moments later, she decided to take a stroll around the campus, as other freshers would do to know their way in and their way out.

Yale University indeed, was a heaven on earth, it beauty outshines every thing. dorms were divided into two categories, but each of the buildings were of distance between male dorms and the female dorms.

After Luna was done touring the campus, she decides to go back to her dorm since it was already late in the evening. Upon going back to her dorm, she sees Cassandra, the lady from before. " Hey, Luna where are you going" Cassandra said, the moment she saw Luna.

" Just retireing to my dorm after touring around the campus. I'm kind of tired."

" Why don't you come with me for dinner, it's on me tonight, so don't worry." She said.

Okay, fine, let's roll" Luna said as they walks out on the hallway.

At the school general eating hall, Luna opened her mouth agaped, upon seeing the luxury of this place they call eating hall that looks like a wedding hall or even an expensive restaurant at that.

The moment she set her foot in, a majestic hall of culinary excellence, where the discerning palates of esteemed scholars were indulged in a symphony of flavors, textures, and presentation. She was about to partake in a gourmet meal, expertly crafted by a team of skilled chefs, and served in an atmosphere of opulence and refinement. With each step, she felt her anticipation build, her senses tingling with excitement at the prospect of savoring the exquisite cuisine and enjoying the warm, inviting ambiance of the refectory.

Entering the grand hall, the soft murmur of conversation and the clinking of fine china greeted her, accompanied by the subtle scent of freshly baked bread wafting from the kitchen. Luna's eyes widened as she scanned the room, taking in the elegant decor, the planted pillars, and the expansive windows that flooded the space with natural light.

She followed the hostess to her table, her heels clicking softly on the polished marble floor. The table, adorned with crisp linens, fine china, and sparkling crystal glassware, was situated by the window, offering a stunning view of the meticulously manicured gardens.

As she took her seat, a sommelier appeared, presenting her with the day's selection of fine wines and champagnes. Luna perused the list, her eyes drawn to the exclusive vintage, expertly paired with the chef's recommendations.

The meal began with an amuse-bouche of delicate seared scallops, served with a citrus-herb emulsion and microgreens. Luna's taste buds danced with delight as the chef's skillful preparation and presentation were revealed, a true symphony of flavors and textures.

The subsequent courses – a velvety butternut squash soup, a tender filet mignon, and a decadent chocolate soufflé – were each a masterclass in culinary excellence, showcasing the kitchen's dedication to using only the finest, locally sourced ingredients.

Throughout the meal, Luna engaged in stimulating conversation with her companion, discussing literature, art, and philosophy, as the refined atmosphere and exquisite cuisine elevated her senses and nourished her mind and body.

" Everything here looks grand and I'm loving it" Luna said she was mesmerized by the beauty of this place called the Yale students eating hall.

Suddenly, the students in eating hall erupted into chaos, the sound of gasps and whispers rippling through the crowd like a wave. A figure emerged, walking through the throng like a god, exudingpower and authority. His designer shoes clicked on the marble floor, each step echoing through the hushed silence.

He was a vision of wealth and privilege, his outfit a masterclass in luxury and excess. A watch glittered on his left wrist, its price tag staggering was enough to pay the tuition fees of seven or eight Yale students.

As he walked, the crowd parted, their eyes fixed on him with a mixture of awe and reverence. It was as if the very air was charged with electricity, the atmosphere, thick with anticipation.

Cassandra's eyes were glued to him, her face flushed with excitement. She leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. " Oh my God, it's them".

Luna turned to her, her expression serene, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, who is that guy and those with him".

Cassandra's eyes widened, her jaw dropping in incredulity. "You don't know?"

Luna shook her head, her expression calm. "No, I don't."

Cassandra's gaze flicked back to the trio, her voice dropping to a whisper. "That's George Robert, the richest guy in school. His father's a billionaire, with businesses all over the world. Actually his father is the richest man in the world. Some say that his father is a Mafia boss itself.

Those guys who are with him are James and Desmond, his best friends. They are equally rich freaks.

Luna's expression didn't change, her eyes showing no flicker of interest. Cassandra's words hung in the air, the silence between them palpable.

What sort of girl was this, so unmoved by the presence of the school's most eligible bachelor?.

George's father -Derick Robert, owns half of the Yale University. Infact, almost owns all. He is equally the highest shareholder and had invested a lot in that school. so George himself, is respected like a god, even the school lectures and others who holds higher ranks at yales, fears him and can't afford to mess with him.

Luna slipped into her dorm, the silence swallowing her whole. She shed her clothes, the shower's warm cascade doing little to ease the ache in her chest.

As she lay on her bed, the darkness closed in, her mind fixating on her mom's face. The ache intensified, her heart heavy with longing.

And then, she was gone, swallowed by the void, her fate hanging in the balance.

The darkness claimed her, a silent, suffocating shroud that erased everything else. Luna's breath slowed, her body still, her fate suspended in the inky blackness. Slowly she drifted to deep slumber.
