Chapter 14: After the Storm
The dust of the charred Sacred Tree fell like black snow over the Elven capital. Volt stood amidst the ruins, the Elven King lying unconscious on the floor, alive but drained after the divine soul had departed his body.
Sai wiped his blade and sheathed it. "My Lord, the Elves are gathering outside. They don't know whether to mourn their tree or thank you for purging that toxic 'god' from their midst."
Aki, still busy counting the stolen crystals in his bag, smirked. "Who cares? What matters is that this place is now full of treasures, and there's no one left to stop us."
Volt turned to Luna, who was staring at the devastation with tear-filled eyes. "Luna, your people are free now. But freedom never comes without sacrifice. Your King will need time to recover, but until then... you are in charge."
Luna looked up at Volt, sensing for the first time the true weight of the power behind those crimson eyes. "Why did you do this? You are the Demon King. Why save a race that once betrayed you?"
Volt turned his back and walked toward the palace exit. "I didn't come to save you. I came to reclaim what is mine. This land... this Mana... it all belongs to me. The gods were merely thieves, and I have no patience for thieves."
