Robert's Point of View
I grabbed my phone and dialed Daniel's number.
I said in a decisive tone devoid of any hesitation:
"Yes, Daniel... have you completed your mission?"
His voice came through the receiver laden with victory:
"Yes, Mr. Robert. We have pulled all the information from the 'Digital Ops' system; there is no longer a company by that name in the market."
A cold smile formed on my lips and I said:
"Excellent work."
I ended the call and immediately called Police Commissioner Sterling, informing him in brief words that his problem had been severed from the roots.
I lay back on my bed, feeling my body relax over the sheets, but my mind was elsewhere.
I raised my hand mechanically and felt my lips with the tips of my fingers. The taste of her lips was still clinging to them like a magic spell that refused to vanish.
I muttered in a choked voice:
"Ah, Julie... what have you done to me?"
