Bai Ya's skin crawled under that gaze.
She subconsciously touched her throat, her fingertips brushing against warm skin.
'Good, it's still there.'
After a sigh of relief, she forced herself to stand tall and roared at Chu Jing.
"Don't think you can just run rampant! I came prepared this time!"
"So, you were secretly following me?"
Chu Jing's eyes narrowed, her tone growing colder.
She gave the long whip in her hand a slight lift. The tip flicked, stirring up a wisp of dust that scattered in the air.
Bai Ya froze, blurting out reflexively.
"No! You were the one following us!"
Her voice rose in pitch, tinged with panic. She had clearly been thrown off by Chu Jing's powerful presence.
The words had no sooner left her mouth than she realized how illogical they sounded, and her face instantly flushed crimson.
Chu Jing had no interest in hearing her excuses.
With a flick of her wrist, her whip went CRACK! against the ground, leaving a shallow fissure in the dirt.
