The quiet of the forest was suddenly shattered by a series of beastly roars, startling everyone—from Yuan Lang, who was single-handedly trouncing Teng Qian up ahead, to Teng Qian himself, and even the Snow Tiger Beastmen watching the spectacle from behind the trees and Wu Yue and the others in the cave.
Yuan Lang's sharp features were hidden in the darkness, but his low, magnetic voice calmed the other beastmen. "Teng Qian, you and a few others stay here and protect the young female. The rest of you, come with me to investigate."
The beastmen sprang into action at his words. Wu Yue, wrapped in a snow-white Beast Skin, stood at the entrance of the cave. "Be careful."
The beastmen all flashed brilliant smiles, then turned and followed Yuan Lang toward the source of the sounds.
The young female might not have recognized the sounds, but the beastmen did. The cry that followed the first roar was unmistakably the call of a Flying Eagle Beastman.
