Quentin Grant's next words gave her a sudden glimmer of hope.
"I've had a change of heart. How about this: if you successfully pass the trial and stay quietly by my side for three years, I'll let you go."
'He figured he couldn't possibly stay interested in her forever. Three years should be enough.'
"Really? You promise?" Nora Ainsworth's eyes suddenly lit up.
He scoffed, "Do you think I'm the type of person who goes back on his word? Look how happy you are. Be careful, I might just change my mind. Don't worry, I'll have a written agreement drafted for you when we get back. Is that good enough?"
Nora Ainsworth nodded emphatically, her eyes sparkling. "Mhm."
"So, am I still not a decent human being?"
Although Nora Ainsworth didn't want to admit it, she reluctantly nodded.
