When Victor Morgan volunteered to stay in a guest room, Seth Sterling and Faye Fuller were even more pleased with him.
The young man was so sensible, and Faye Fuller wasn't the kind of parent to stand in the way of a happy couple. And so, the task of showing Victor Morgan to his room fell to Jessie Sterling.
The main building itself didn't have guest rooms; the Sterling sisters each occupied a floor, and Mr. and Mrs. Sterling had another, so there were no spare rooms. However, the guest house, connected to the back of the main building, had plenty.
As they walked along the covered corridor, Jessie Sterling described the layout of her family's home to Victor Morgan.
Even though it was nighttime, the entire Sterling estate was brightly lit. Even the garden below was so well-illuminated that there was nothing spooky about the darkness.
