Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Let Her Act Up! Serves Her Right

A month ago, Li Ji was severely wounded on the battlefield. He fell into a deep coma, his life hanging by a thread.

Everyone thought Li Ji wouldn't make it this time. Those around him had even prepared for the worst, but to their surprise, he suddenly woke up after three days in a coma.

Upon waking, Li Ji discovered he had a new ability—

If he stared into someone's eyes for longer than a single breath, he could hear their current thoughts.

He didn't know where this ability came from, nor how long it would last.

But he knew one thing: he could never tell anyone about this.

It was a secret that belonged to him and him alone.

And right now, every single one of Hua Manman's thoughts was being transmitted clearly and completely into Li Ji's ears.

Ordinarily, Li Ji should have been furious.

No one could tolerate being called an out-and-out great villain.

Yet, not only was Li Ji not angry, but the corners of his thin lips lifted, revealing his first smile since he had appeared.

His features were already stunningly beautiful, and that smile made him look even more devastatingly handsome.

Hua Manman was dumbfounded.

Even though she had seen countless pretty boys while surfing the internet in her past life, not a single one could compare to the devilishly handsome man before her.

Li Ji smiled and said, "Very well said."

Hua Manman thought her flattery had worked. 'Flattery will get you everywhere, after all,' she thought. 'The ancients truly didn't lie!'

She said shyly, "I was only speaking the truth. Your Highness praises me too much."

But at that, the smile on Li Ji's face faded slightly.

He asked ambiguously.

"Is it all the truth?"

Hua Manman nodded without the slightest hesitation. "Yes, of course!"

Li Ji seemed to lose all interest. He casually tossed the fan aside, leaned back in his chair, and called out lazily.

"Wang Bei."

The moment the word left his lips, the door was pushed open.

A tall man dressed in black walked in.

His name was Chen Wangbei, one of Prince Zhao's most trusted aides and the Commander of the Personal Guard Camp.

Without so much as a glance at the beautiful bride on the bed, Chen Wangbei walked straight to Prince Zhao, clasped his fists, and bowed.

"What are your orders, Your Highness?"

Li Ji: "It's too boring here. I want to go out for some fresh air."

"Yes, Your Highness."

Chen Wangbei didn't ask a single question. He immediately reached for the handles on the back of the wheelchair, ready to take Prince Zhao out for some air.

As he was turning, Li Ji glanced at Hua Manman out of the corner of his eye.

He saw the woman sitting blankly on the bed, her beautiful eyes welling with tears. She looked like a pitiful little rabbit, utterly wronged.

Noticing Prince Zhao's gaze upon her, Hua Manman instinctively stood up, took two steps forward, and asked in a pleading tone,

"Where are you going, Your Highness? Could you take me with you? I... I don't want to be left here alone."

Seeing this, Chen Wangbei knew the woman didn't want to spend her wedding night alone.

As the new nanny, if she couldn't even keep the Prince with her on their wedding night, what would people think if word got out? How would she survive in the Prince's Mansion in the future?

But then he remembered how this woman had threatened to kill herself in the Uncle's Mansion to avoid marrying Prince Zhao, causing the Prince to lose all face. The thought was satisfying.

'Let her stew in it! Serves her right!'

Li Ji stared at Hua Manman, clearly hearing her current thoughts—

'Go, go, go! Go on, big brother, don't you look back! Once you're gone, I can have this whole big bed to myself, hahaha!'

That booming, barbell-like laughter echoed in his ears, lingering long after.

Li Ji's thin lips curled up again into a meaningful smile.

"In that case, you shall come with me."

Hua Manman: "..."

She almost lost control of her expression.
