Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: Theft of Luck

The large-scale sorcery terrorism perpetrated by Noritoshi Kamo. It was only natural that Suguru Geto, being the first to grasp the gravity of the situation, moved into action without waiting for Satoru Gojo or Naoya Zen'in.

He dispatched spirits to the various terror-stricken regions with the order to "Save the sorcerers and the civilians," and after leaving a message for Satoru Gojo—who would surely warp in eventually—stating, "I am heading to Shinagawa," his preparations were complete.

Having readied himself with explosive speed, Suguru Geto rode on the back of the Special Grade Spirit Kirin alongside the Special Grade Spirit Zashiki-warashi, racing through the sky toward Shinagawa Station.

Visible ahead were people fleeing in a panic. Suguru Geto ground his back teeth at the sounds of screams and grief that reached him even high in the air; though he regenerated the damage with Reversed Cursed Technique, he fixed his gaze on the blazing Shinagawa Station with eyes burning with rage. He sent his spirits down from above to rescue the people below.

At the same time, his action of casting a Curtain was characteristic of him, maintaining his composure even amidst his fury. However, the massive Curtain that completely enveloped the area around Shinagawa Station was a hollow barrier, existing in appearance only. It had been established by stripping away all functions other than "Concealment from non-sorcerers."

The Bitz units swallowed within it grew suspicious of the Curtain that seemed to have no effect, but the answer was "Deployed" from the sky immediately after.

"Repurposing the deployed Curtain into the outer shell of the Domain, limiting the duration to one minute. Extending the time required for technique recovery after deployment by two-fold—all right, I can do this. Domain Expansion!"

Suguru Geto's Domain Expansion. By incorporating multiple Binding Vows and pre-marking the wide area with the Curtain, the Domain was deployed at high speed. As Geto himself had stated, it was a severely limited manifestation that could only hold for one minute.

While it was true that a Domain capable of devouring and depleting all cursed energy within it was powerful, if it only sealed the Bitz's cursed energy cannons and explosion techniques for a single minute, they would simply need to knead their cursed energy again once the minute passed.

However, in that one minute, Suguru Geto succeeded in applying a "Sure-hit" status for a specific technique to every Bitz within the Domain, cementing his victory. If he could use that minute to attach spirits to every survivor within the Domain and let them escape, Geto's mission would be complete.

Of course, the Bitz had no intention of letting the survivors flee for free.

One unit attempted to bring its fist down on the back of a survivor who was staggering away while being led by a spirit—but it tripped spectacularly, slammed its face into the ground, and died instantly as the impact twisted its neck in an unnatural direction.

Naturally, a Bitz could easily regenerate from something as simple as a broken neck and revive immediately, but such abnormal behavior could not be a natural phenomenon.

Exactly one minute passed, and as the Domain began to crumble, Suguru Geto directed Kirin toward the ground. He landed among the wreckage of Shinagawa Station where the Bitz were waiting; despite his cursed technique being burnt out, he walked toward them with an air of complete indifference.

The Bitz aimed their cursed energy cannons at him, still suspicious of the previous unit's strange death. Immediately after, however, bizarre incidents began to occur one after another.

One unit stepped on a piece of concrete, suffered a massive sprain, and accidentally discharged its cursed energy cannon, which directly hit a fellow unit that was supposed to be an ally. Naturally, the unit that was hit tried to dodge, but it couldn't move in time and lost an arm; the impact sent it spinning like a drill while it sprayed cursed energy shots everywhere, all of which struck other Bitz units, triggering an infinite chain of friendly fire.

By the time they frantically stopped firing, every unit had died at least twice, yet Suguru Geto—who had stood right in the middle of that hailstorm of stray shots—remained unblemished.

It was absolutely impossible. Something was wrong.

When the Bitz tried to place their hands on the ground to stand up, shards of glass tore through their flesh as if they had been aimed, and before they could even feel the pain, additional glass falling from the crumbling Atre Shinagawa struck their necks like guillotines. Then, reinforced concrete fell to crush their heads.

Amidst this, Suguru Geto watched the Bitz's pathetic display with freezing eyes and spoke quietly.

"I am quite angry, you see. Even if you take the form of children—and even if you truly are children—I cannot afford to show you any mercy. Therefore... your luck has already run out."

A Bitz tried to talk back to Geto but ended up biting its own tongue off due to a miraculous slip of the tongue. As they fell into further confusion, the true nature of what was eroding them was revealed.

"My Special Grade Imaginary Spirit Zashiki-warashi possesses the technique 'Luck Seizure and Distribution.' Its range isn't very long, and its fuel efficiency is quite poor. Usually, I can only manipulate things within the realm of being lucky or unlucky. However... if I provide it with an inexhaustible supply of cursed energy from my Domain, combined with the Domain's sure-hit effect, its performance is completely transformed. It becomes powerful enough to strip away every bit of luck from your future lives and distribute it to myself and the people caught up in this."

Before the Geto who declared this, the Bitz—now haunted by misfortune—drew in every possible cause of death without exception. They were crushed repeatedly as they were buried under the burning city.

In a living hell where they could not die but continued to experience death, and where every action backfired, the last thing the Bitz saw was the silhouette of Suguru Geto glancing back at them with eyes of absolute zero before riding Kirin into the heavens.

Afterward, their vision turned red as a burning building collapsed unnaturally, turning into a massive stone oven that began to incinerate them. As the information of the Bitz's souls, who continued to die, was replicated into other units, their worn-out bodies were gradually reduced to charcoal.

Suguru Geto, one of the strongest in the Japanese sorcery world, standing alongside Satoru Gojo and Naoya Zen'in. It was only a short while later that word reached Jujutsu High that he had quelled the terror at Shinagawa Station and rescued as many citizens as possible.
