Chapter 1 - Transmigration??

"Adrien Lefèvre, don't come to me again," the man said coldly. "I won't like you."

His voice was completely devoid of emotion, carrying only a faint trace of irritation.

After he finished speaking, a woman's voice rang out urgently.

"Adrien, why can't you accept me? Am I really that bad?"

"You don't deserve it."

"Is it that you're unwilling to give me even a place in your heart?" she demanded. "What's so special about Claire Dubois? Am I really that much worse than her?"

"That's right," the man replied bluntly. "You're worse than Claire."

Their argument echoed throughout the private room.

Standing off to the side, Lucas felt completely bewildered.

Who am I?

Why am I here?

And who are these two people?

Lucas didn't react immediately. His mind was sluggish, and he soon remembered that he had been drinking earlier.

Why was he suddenly standing in a private room?

He was supposed to be the chairman of a listed company. Today, he had been negotiating a partnership with a Fortune 500 company and drinking with the branch's general manager.

Feeling slightly drunk, he had planned to close his eyes for a moment and rest.

And then—

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself here, awakened by the argument between these two people.

A thought struck him.

Am I… a waiter?

Otherwise, why would I be standing here?

At that moment, a strange mechanical sound suddenly echoed in his ears.

[Ding! Binding of the System complete.]

The cold, emotionless voice made Lucas freeze.

A system?

What kind of nonsense was this?

After a brief pause, Lucas suddenly realized something, and his expression changed.

"Don't tell me… I crossed over?"

The possibility made his scalp tingle.

I transmigrated—and I'm still a chairman of a listed company?

Is this some kind of joke?

Before he could think any further, a flood of unfamiliar memories surged into his mind.

"Hiss—!"

A sharp pain shot through his head.

Lucas's face twisted as he instinctively tried to squat down and clutch his head, but an invisible force stopped him from moving.

After a moment, the pain gradually subsided.

Lucas slowly absorbed the memories that now belonged to him.

And then—

He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"I crossed into a novel… and I'm just a minor follower of the villain?"

The realization left him horrified.

He wasn't some powerful protagonist.

He wasn't even an important villain.

What's worse, the novel he had transmigrated into was one he had read before—

The Bodyguard of the Urban Super Soldier King.

And the most critical point?

The villain in that novel died a miserable death.

As the villain's so-called "number-one younger brother," Lucas's fate was even worse. He died so thoroughly that not even scraps were left behind.

In the original plot, the soldier king returned to the city as a bodyguard for the female CEO. He then helped her take control of the company, expand aggressively, and crush everyone who stood in his way.

Including—

The two people in front of him now.

The villain male lead, Adrien Lefèvre.

And the villain heroine, Camille Laurent.

Both of them met tragic ends.

"This is basically a death sentence," Lucas groaned inwardly.

Soon, the system's voice sounded again in his mind.

[Ding. Please stabilize the development of the storyline. Avoid exposing yourself to risk factors, seize opportunities from the original plot, complete the task of altering the narrative, and you may earn a chance to return to the main world.]

[When the host's strength surpasses the protagonist's, killing the protagonist will elevate the host into a villain. Killing multiple protagonists will result in becoming a Villain of Destiny.]

[To ensure a stable start, the host's body has been adjusted to a realistic appearance. Good luck.]

Lucas fell silent.

But one thing was now painfully clear.

If he wanted to return to the real world and reclaim his life as an ordinary chairman of a listed company, he would have to seize opportunities—and eliminate the protagonist.

"Isn't this just forcing me to become a murderer?" Lucas complained inwardly.

Yet he wasn't as resistant as he thought.

After all, this was a fictional world.

And even in reality—

To climb to the top, who didn't step on others along the way?

There were countless people who jumped from buildings after going bankrupt.

This identity…

Was it already doomed from the start?

A villain's lackey.

It was never easy to rise from such a position.

Inside the private room, the argument continued, both parties red-faced.

"Lucas!"

Suddenly, Adrien Lefèvre, his face flushed and expression ugly, barked out his name.

Lucas reacted instantly. "I'm here."

Adrien shot a vicious glare at Camille Laurent, clenched his teeth, and snapped, "Let's go. Don't waste time on this crazy woman."

With that, he stood up angrily and stormed out.

Lucas watched Adrien leave without looking back. Then his gaze shifted to Camille Laurent, whose eyes were slowly reddening.

For a brief moment, he was stunned.

Adrien and Camille were both heirs of prominent Jiangcheng families, each possessing assets worth tens of billions. By all standards, they were evenly matched.

Their families were even on good terms.

Yet when it came to the two of them…

Camille Laurent was breathtaking.

Tall and slender, her long, straight black hair fell like a waterfall down her back. Her delicate oval face was adorned with light, elegant makeup that gave her a cool, refined beauty.

Her perfectly shaped lips were tinted a soft rosy color—subtle, yet irresistibly alluring.

Now, her apricot-shaped eyes were crimson, misting over with unshed tears.

She was a true top-tier beauty.

Even Lucas had never seen a woman more beautiful than her.

Yet she was hopelessly infatuated.

Completely devoted to Adrien Lefèvre.

"What a waste," Lucas sighed quietly.

The future was bound to spiral out of control.

Perhaps because of his own disposition, he found himself unable to ignore these beautiful people fated for tragedy.

After hesitating for a moment, Lucas pulled a packet of tissues from his suit pocket.

He walked over and handed one to Camille Laurent as she lowered her head, sobbing softly.

"Hey."

Camille looked up at the sound, irritation flashing across her face—until she saw Lucas smiling gently at her. She froze.

Lucas said calmly,"Miss Laurent, a beautiful girl like you shouldn't ruin her face by crying."

She stared blankly at this insignificant follower of Adrien—someone she had never paid attention to before.

After a moment, she took the tissue without saying a word.

Seeing this, Lucas added softly,"I'll be leaving first, Miss Laurent. You should head back early. Don't cry anymore."

With that, he turned and left.

As she watched his retreating figure disappear from the private room, a strange ripple flickered in Camille Laurent's eyes.

"Thank you…"
