Perhaps sensing that Jimmy was deliberately trying to keep things calm, the man slowly lowered his gun.

"I'll leave immediately," he said. "I hope you don't interfere."

"Where will you go?" Jimmy asked. "Your wound may have been treated, but not properly."

He glanced at the girl beside him.

"And this little girl, Who is she to you? You can barely protect yourself right now, and you plan to keep wandering with her?"

Jimmy paused, then added calmly.

"If you trust me, I can make a call. My godfather is a doctor, He can treat your injuries properly."

Seeing the girl, dirty and with dried blood still on her hands, Jimmy felt a flicker of sympathy.

The man hesitated.

Thinking of the people outside who were still searching for him, he looked down at his daughter, conflicted.

"All right," he finally said. "No policez And you keep your word."

"Of course," Jimmy replied. "Let me introduce myself, Jimmy Halstead."

"Damon."

…

Jimmy dialed his phone.

"Hello, Yinsen? Can you come pick me up?"

He paused.

"Yeah, I can't head back on my own right now, I have a few things that need transporting, near the scrapyard Peter mentioned last time."

He hung up.

Damon let out a quiet breath.

"Do you mind telling me how you got injured?" Jimmy asked. "If it's not convenient, you don't have to say."

"It's nothing complicated," Damon replied. "A group dealing in narcotics. I wiped out their base and got hurt in the process."

Jimmy blinked.

"I have to say, sir, you're impressive. Doing something like that while traveling with a child. This is your daughter, right?"

"Yes," Damon said. "My daughter, Mindy... Mindy, say hello to big brother."

Mindy McCready glanced at Jimmy, nodded briefly, then retreated behind her father.

Jimmy smiled.

Kids were kids.

Then his expression froze.

Wait.

Mindy? Damon?

Jimmy's face changed.

"You're the framed celebrity cop from five years ago, Damon McCready?"

Damon McCready laughed softly.

"I didn't think anyone still remembered that name."

How could he not remember?

If he remembered Damon, then of course he remembered Hit-Girl But looking at them now, Kick-Ass clearly was not happening.

"Of course I remember," Jimmy said. "I don't know exactly what you're doing, and I don't want to know. It's probably about uncovering the truth or revenge."

He shook his head.

"I can't help you with that. I'm a law-abiding citizen(Well...) But I can help remove your worries."

Jimmy looked at Mindy again.

"I can take care of her. She's a child. Following you around like this isn't right."

"That depends on Mindy's choice," Damon said quietly.

Jimmy's tone sharpened.

"That way of thinking is unreasonable. How can you let a child this young be exposed to this kind of life?"

He took a breath.

"Even war tells women to step aside. How can you drag a child into it? A little girl, at that."

His voice lowered.

"Have you thought about her childhood? What kind of childhood is she going to have…"

Jimmy tried his best to persuade him.

Damon looked at Mindy.

The pity in his eyes slowly hardened into resolve.

…

Outside, tires screeched.

"Brake."

Damon's hand tightened around his gun.

Then a familiar voice called out.

"Jimmy? Are you in there?"

Jimmy heard Yinsen's voice outside.

He looked at Damon's reaction, then at the gun still clutched in his hand. After all that talking, Damon still had not been convinced.

Jimmy's temper finally snapped.

"I'm right here!"

He turned back.

Damon was still holding the gun, finger tense, ready to fire at any moment.

"You wanna play huh?"

Jimmy's eyes hardened.

"Damon, what do you think that thing is going to do?"

He stepped forward.

"If I wanted to cripple you, it would take seconds. Do you really think holding a piece of scrap metal gives you leverage?"

His voice dropped.

"If it weren't for Mindy, you'd have been dead nine times over."

Before Damon could react, Jimmy grabbed the safety, twisted, and bent.

Crack!

The gun folded in on itself like soft metal.

Damon froze.

This was no longer disbelief, this was a shock.

He had already thought the man who injured him was terrifying enough, Now he realized this boy was far worse.

Damon carried two more guns, but one glance at Jimmy was enough, They would just become two more pieces of useless scrap.

Only then did Damon understand how ridiculous his threat had been.

He had thought Jimmy was being cooperative.

In reality, Jimmy simply had not cared.

…

Moments later, Yinsen entered the machine room.

He immediately saw Damon sitting on the floor, chest wrapped in bandages, and Mindy clutching his arm, fighting back tears.

"Yinsen, over here," Jimmy said. "He's injured, and he's traveling with a child. I want to help him. Can you see how we can get him out safely?"

Yinsen hesitated.

Then he sighed.

"All right," he said. "Jimmy, help him into the car."

He glanced at Damon.

"I don't know who you are, and I don't want to know. Once you recover, leave my home. Let's pretend we never met."

Normally, Yinsen would have avoided getting involved.

But seeing the child changed things.

Jimmy supported Damon as they moved him to the car. Mindy held tightly onto Damon's clothes the entire way.

Back home, Jimmy assisted Yinsen in treating Damon's injuries.

"Oh my God," Yinsen muttered. "What did this do to you?"

The wounds were not gunshots.

Two small holes.

Inside them, fragments of wooden toothpicks.

Ordinary toothpicks.

After Damon explained what happened, Jimmy was stunned.

Then, once he understood who had injured Damon, he became even more unsettled.

The enemy in Kick-Ass was supposed to be Frank D'Amico.

So why was Lester involved?

That name might not mean much on its own, but his alias certainly did.

Bullseye.

A normal human going up against Bullseye was suicide.

It was not even a real fight.

Bullseye had not taken Damon seriously at all.

After Damon destroyed the drug factory, Bullseye had casually flicked two toothpicks.

That was all it took.

Those two toothpicks had nearly killed him.

The money Damon took from the factory had also been reclaimed.

Bullseye had taken it without effort.

…

Damon had only recently been released from prison.

Framed by Frank D'Amico, he had spent five years incarcerated. After his release, he reclaimed his daughter, Mindy, from a former colleague.

Driven by revenge, Damon made a decision.

He would involve his daughter in this war.

Before training could even begin, logistics became a problem.

A criminal record made employment nearly impossible and Damon had no intention of living a quiet, lawful life.

So he chose the fastest way to earn money.

Robbing criminals.

With his experience as a decorated police officer, Damon quickly identified a suitable target. Using skill and preparation, he wiped out the underground factory.

He took the money.

And destroyed the operation.

Everything went smoothly.

Until Bullseye appeared.

Two toothpicks.

That was all.

And Damon had nearly died.
