Chapter 103 - Ch. 103: Let’s Try, Try, Try, Seize The Day!

"...So I guess you're not a morning person, Bulma?" Kakarot joked as the girl opened the door to the Capsule House, yawning loudly.

She ignored him. "What's that smell?" She asked, sitting on the log that Kakarot had pulled over sometime last night.

"Oh. I woke up pretty early this morning, so I got attacked by a pack of wolves." The Saiyan casually explained, "Wolf meat! Want some?"

He handed her a skewer. The wolf meat was a bit burnt, but it wasn't bad.

But one thing gnawed at Bulma. "Did you hunt these wolves, or…?"

"No. They were just kinda waiting out here when I went to pee." A bit of blood drained from Bulma's face, just imagining what would've happened to her had Kakarot not been here, but after a moment, she shook her head and decided to stop thinking about it.

"Did you get the vomit out of your shoe?" She asked.

"Yeah. Minty fresh!" He showed her the shoe, making her sniff it by proximity. It smelled interestingly familiar, mildly like the detergent she used on her delicates, but Bulma didn't think too hard about it.

After their little breakfast, the duo packed the Capsule House up and got back into their car, driving along the small dirt road toward Kakarot's Grandpa Gohan's house.

"I didn't even know that places this remote were a thing! It feels like I've been driving for days!" Bulma complained.

"It's only been about a half-hour, Bulma. If you're tired, I can drive." Kakarot offered.

Bulma scowled at him, almost swerving off of the road into a tree before she refocused her gaze on the road.

"Seriously, it's like… nothing! For miles!" She complained.

"Yeah, duh. It's so much easier to train if there aren't people around. Plus, people auras are like… really distracting. I can't even imagine what a big city would feel like." Kakarot told the girl.

"Like a place with phone service. That's what a big city feels like. You should try it. Anything's better than this!" Bulma told him.

Kakarot shrugged. "Different strokes for different people. This place feels perfect for me and Grandpa." He told her honestly. The lack of people reminded him of the Kame house by the water. A totally peaceful place where he could just relax and train. It was nice.

"Ooh, yeah! Right there, yeah!"

"Umm… Grandpa?" Kakarot closed his eyes, turning away with a new mental scar in his brain.

"Oh, Kakarot! I didn't sense you coming. Brenda, you can go now. Thanks for the massage, beautiful." The shirtless old man shamelessly flirted with the young masseuse. "Payment's in the mail."

"Okay, Mister Gohan. Have a nice day."

"You too, Brenda. Same time tomorrow?"

"Somebody's having a fun retirement! Careful, or you'll drain that wallet of yours dry, old man!" The masseuse smiled.

The old man laughed it off as the young woman got into her car and drove off.

"So, what can an old man like me do for you, Kakarot? And who's the pretty girl? Have you already gotten yourself a girlfriend? I'd expect nothing less from my grandson!" Grandpa Gohan laughed, walking over to a side room in his tiny home and picking a shirt out of the closet.

"Grandpa!" Kakarot grimaced, embarrassed, "It's not like that!"

"Yeah, him? No." Bulma agreed.

"Hey!"

"So, if you're not introducing me to your girlfriend, then what's with the visit? Do you actually need something from this old man? If you do, you know you'll have to work for it, boy." The old man's gaze deepened.

Bulma shivered, not from ki pressure, but simply from her deepest human instincts sensing danger, like an antelope sensing the fact that a lion has just looked over at you.

Meanwhile, Kakarot's face split into a feral grin. "Sure, Grandpa! Sounds like fun."

"HOW IS THAT FUN?!" Bulma shouted as Kakarot rapidly swam from the swarm of piranhas chasing him around the smallish pond, as Grandpa Gohan cackled from the shore.

"YOU WOULDN'T GET IT!" Kakarot replied, jumping two feet out from the water as one of the fishes bit him on the butt.

"FUN FOR ME! READY FOR THE SHARKS BOY!?" Gohan cackled, dumping a giant tanker of water into the pond. The water level raised about a foot, as five bull sharks entered the pond and immediately started chasing Kakarot along with the piranhas.

"Huh. You'd think that the piranhas and sharks would try to eat each other…" Bulma noted as Kakarot narrowly missed a shark bite.

"REMEMBER! NO FLYING, BOY!" Gohan cackled, laughing so hard that he doubled over, wheezing.

"IS THAT MR. BIGGIE?!" Kakarot asked, as a piranha bit him on the foot.

"Brought him over special for you! He missed you, boy!"

"Who's Mr. Biggie?"

"FIFTEEN MORE MINUTES, KAKAROT!" Grandpa Gohan shouted, laughing.

It was only fifteen minutes later that Bulma learned who Mr. Biggie was. Apparently, he was a giant shark that'd once nearly eaten Kakarot whole as a child.

Because obviously, a four-year-old boy should definitely be casually swimming with sharks.

After a quick twenty minute swim, Old Gohan was happy to donate his Dragon Ball to the duo.

And help wrap most of Kakarot's many shark and piranha bites.

Apparently, sharks were easier to dodge than piranhas. He only had one shark bite, but almost a dozen piranha bites.

Good thing the boy's skin was tougher than steel, so none of the bites did too much damage. Still, it was entertaining enough that Gohan basically laughed his head off the entire time. As the duo drove off, they could still hear the old man laughing loudly at Kakarot's pain.

"You have an… interesting grandfather, Kakarot." Bulma noted from the driver's seat.

Kakarot rubbed the fading shark bite on his shoulder. "I know! Isn't he the best?! Sharks and piranhas! He even brought over Mr. Biggie!" Despite the fact that his grandfather had placed him in extreme danger for basically no reason at all, Kakarot's eyes were sparkling with happiness at how the meeting had gone.

"...Saiyans are weird." Bulma replied, shaking her head in confusion.
