On one side, chaos had erupted in the capital due to the Royal Palace's Virexion, while on the other, Lucifer rose from his short nap. He thought for a moment… contemplated his ideas for a while… and once he had decided something, he headed back toward the ducal residence.
It was already late morning. Lucifer went straight to the ducal courtroom, where both Mia and Amelia were seated, wearing the dresses Lucifer had made for them, listening to the problems and complaints of Westirifer's citizens.
Without pausing, Lucifer walked up to Mia, planted a tender kiss on her cheek, rested his head in her lap, wrapped both arms around her waist, placed his legs behind Amelia, and lay down on the large sofa where Mia and Amelia had been sitting to hear people's grievances.
After last night's incident, Mia had thought Lucifer would be angry with her or wouldn't speak to her. But seeing him like this now, all her worries melted away. While listening to the petitions, she began gently stroking his hair… Lucifer curled up in his mother's lap like a small child and appeared to fall asleep.
When Amelia saw Lucifer in this state, she fell into deep thought. How could their Lucifer suddenly become such a completely different person… or rather… a demon wearing human skin… and then, in the very next moment, turn back into a completely harmless human being again? Amelia couldn't understand how Lucifer's mind worked.
Lucifer had only just woken up from his brief nap—so although he had curled up in Mia's lap as if sleeping, he wasn't actually asleep. He was simply snuggling, wanting to feel even more of her warmth.
Along with Mia and Amelia, he too was listening to everyone's problems… just lying there with his eyes closed.
At that moment, five women and one man entered the court. One of the women spoke to Mia:
"Duchess… the fertility ceremony is only a few days away now… and from what I can tell, winter will begin the moment the ceremony ends. Duchess, since you're new here, you may not know, but the cold here is extremely severe. Every year we set up food stalls during the ceremony, my husband runs the forge and sells tools and hardware… but to keep the food hot in the stalls we need fire. We're good with fire magic, but none of us can use fire magic continuously for long.
On top of that, we need fire for cooking on one side, light on the other, and firewood in my husband's forge as well… so all the wood we've collected gets completely burned up. Nothing is left for the winter… Now please tell us what we should do—how can we manage light and cooking fuel for the stalls so we can survive the cold comfortably?"
Both Mia and Amelia began thinking about the problem.
Then, with his eyes still closed and head resting in Mia's lap, Lucifer spoke:
"Bring me 10 kg of white sand, 10 kg of animal bones, and 5 kg of sea creature shells… and take them to your forge. I'll explain everything there."
"And you won't even need to fire torches for light anymore… Hurry up… otherwise, because of the bet I made yesterday with Uncle Jeff, I won't be able to do any work for the next three days… Oh, and tell me your name—am I supposed to keep calling you 'you'?"
The woman quickly replied:
"Young Master, forgive us for not introducing ourselves when we arrived.
My name is Riva. These are my four sisters: Yuri, Rebeca, Ilina, and Bekky. And our husband's name is Christopher."
Lucifer looked toward Riva and said calmly:
"It would be better if I never hear the names Christopher or Sarah in this entire duchy again.
From today, his name is Thomas.
Otherwise… if his name remains Christopher… all five of you will become widows in the next two minutes."
The man paled instantly and stammered:
"Yes, Young Master… From now on, my name is Thomas."
Lucifer continued:
"Thomas, take me to your forge quickly… there's a lot of work and very little time."
Hearing this, Mia said:
"Luci, you've never gone to a forge before… so why today? And how will this problem be solved in a forge?"
Lucifer snuggled into her stomach once more and replied:
"Mommy, you should come too… You need to know about this. You'll be the one introducing it to the other duchies and kingdoms."
Mia asked again:
"But what, Luci?"
Lucifer simply said:
"Mommy, come na."
With that, he got up from her lap, took her hand, helped her stand, and said:
"Come."
Mia gave in and went along with Lucifer.
Sinflare Augustiland was a fantasy medieval world…
that became quiet after nightfall. Its one unique feature was that at night, slightly more moans and screams could be heard than during the day.
Here, people still used fire torches and candles for light.
Fire torches were made from moonwood—once lit, they gave off moonlight-like illumination… but they were very expensive. Lucifer had plenty of money, so he could easily acquire them. But the duchy as a whole could not. Moreover, Lucifer had only been in the duchy for 16–17 days, and thanks to Asher, the storage was already packed full of moonwood. Still, a permanent source of light was needed. Without it, the ducal household might manage, but how would ordinary people in the duchy survive?
Everyone arrived together at Thomas's forge. The stone walls were blackened from years of fire, and the air was thick with the smell of iron and heat. Thomas walked ahead, followed by Riva, Ilina, Bekky, Yuri, and Rebeca. Behind them came Lucifer, walking beside his mother—Mia, the Grand Duchess of Westirifer… who looked far too serene and out of place in such a location.
The moment they stepped inside the forge, the heat made it clear this was no joke.
Lucifer didn't waste time.
"Thomas," he said in a calm voice, "I need the materials immediately—ten kilos of fine white sand, ten kilos of animal bone, five kilos of sea creature shells."
Thomas stood straight.
"Right away, Young Master."
He left the forge without delay.
Lucifer then turned to his mother.
"It's going to get very hot in here, Mommy."
Mia glanced at the roaring furnace… molten iron… she hadn't expected anything like this. A faint smile appeared on her face.
"I'll wait outside," she said. "Do your work peacefully, Luci."
Lucifer escorted her to a stone bench in the shaded area outside where cool air reached. Only after making sure she was comfortable did he return inside.
Now inside the forge were only Lucifer and Thomas's wives.
Riva adjusted her apron.
"What should we do, Young Master?"
"Help prepare whatever Thomas brings," Lucifer replied. "Grinding, crushing, sifting—no room for mistakes."
They started working without asking questions.
Lucifer went to the furnace and placed his hand on the rune stone embedded in the wall. The Stability Stone reacted instantly. The roar of the fire gradually quieted. The heat stabilized… as if the flames themselves had submitted.
The forge was no longer fighting.
Lucifer placed copper into the furnace. When it softened, he pulled it out, stretched it, cooled it, then returned it to the heat. He repeated the process again and again. Slowly the copper became so thin it seemed impossible.
Yuri whispered:
"So thin… it should have broken by now…"
Lucifer only said:
"When the heat is under control… fire listens."
He set the copper wire aside.
Soon Thomas returned, carrying heavy sacks.
"I've brought everything, Young Master."
The forge filled with sounds again—grinding bones, cracking shells, the rustle of sand being sifted repeatedly. Everyone worked, but no one knew what the purpose was.
Lucifer mixed everything himself.
The crucible went into the fire.
The mixture began to melt.
Glass was being born.
Lucifer lifted the molten glass with a rod and slowly rotated it while blowing air. The glass expanded into a sphere… a clear bulb took shape.
Riva stopped working.
"This… it's like you trapped breath inside glass…"
He said smuggly "ain't I'm cool" Then Lucifer sealed the base of the bulb and set it aside to cool.
He took the thin copper wire and shaped it into a small loop.
"It will glow," he said softly, "but it won't burn."
The copper filament was perfectly suspended in the center of the bulb. The bulb was airtight-sealed. No air… no fire… only potential.
Then Lucifer took out a sunstone—it felt warm even without light.
"This absorbs sunlight all day," he explained. "And converts it to energy when needed."
Using copper fittings and guiding runes, he fixed the sunstone to the back of the bulb.
Outside, Mia had stood up from the bench. A strange light spilling from inside touched her face. She froze. Her breath caught slightly.
This was not fire.
This was not any magic she recognized.
Sinflare Augustiland had only ever known candles… fire torches… or expensive moonwood torches that only the rich could afford. Darkness had always been part of ordinary people's lives.
And now…
Light stood calmly inside glass.
Lucifer completed the final step—a simple switch: open or closed.
Everything was connected.
He took a deep breath and flipped the switch.
Inside the bulb, the copper filament glowed—first a faint orange… then bright gold… and suddenly the entire forge was flooded with white light. No smoke. No heat. No flame.
Riva stepped back.
Ilina covered her mouth.
Bekky's legs trembled.
Yuri felt as though a fundamental rule of the world had just been broken.
Thomas simply stood there, eyes wide.
Lucifer turned the switch off.
Darkness returned.
Then on again—light instantly reappeared.
Mia said nothing.
She couldn't find words to praise him.
She didn't even know what she had just witnessed… or what her son had created.
All she knew was that today… Sinflare Augustiland had seen something it had never seen before.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
After that, Lucifer set the bulb aside and moved on to work without any dramatics. As if for him, this was just a demonstration… not some miracle.
He said, "Now watch carefully."
Lucifer began practically teaching Thomas and his wives. Not just by telling them....he held their hands, showed them their mistakes, made them do it again. He explained how to draw the copper so thin without breaking it. When the heat is too much and when it's just right… how to tell by the color of the metal whether it's melting or ready to be stretched and expanded.
He taught them how to make the filament. How thin the loop should be… how much gap to leave… how to suspend it perfectly in the center of the bulb so it doesn't touch the glass.
Then the sunstone.
How to hold it in your hand. How you can already feel from its warmth whether it's charged or not. How to fix it behind the bulb so the energy flows straight to the filament… without damaging the glass.
Glass shaping was the hardest part.
Lucifer demonstrated how to control molten glass with your breath. Too much air...the glass becomes too thin. Too little....the shape collapses. When to rotate the rod… when to stop moving your hands.
He didn't show it just once.
He repeated it again and again.
And while doing so… Lucifer made another ten bulbs.
Slowly the forge began to fill with light. Each bulb slightly different… but every single one stable.
Then he let Thomas and his wives try.
In the first attempt, the glass collapsed.
In the second, the filament was placed in the wrong spot.
Somewhere the copper wire snapped.
Somewhere the sunstone alignment went wrong.
Failure after failure.
Bekky shook her hand in frustration.
"Why is this so difficult…"
Lucifer only said, "Because you're trying to force the fire."
They kept trying.
Twenty attempts.
Twenty-five attempts.
Exhaustion filled the forge.
And then… the twenty-eighth attempt.
Thomas and Bekky were working together. Thomas kept rotating the glass rod… Bekky fixed the filament and sunstone in the perfect position.
They attached the switch.
A moment of silence.
Switch on.
The bulb lit up.
A soft, pale white light… completely stable.
No one shouted.
No one clapped.
They just stared.
Tears welled up in Thomas's eyes.
"It's done…" he whispered. "Young Master… it's done…"
Lucifer simply nodded.
"Now listen carefully," he said. "This bulb is strong… but it can break if you're careless."
He explained to them not to handle the bulb roughly.
Not to throw it on stone.
Not to take it straight from a cold place to a hot one.
"If the bulb breaks," Lucifer said in a calm voice, "don't go near it."
Everyone froze.
"When it shatters, the glass explodes outward under pressure," he explained. "Small shards can fly a short distance. You can get hurt."
It wasn't just a warning.
It was responsibility.
By evening, the sun began to set.
The heat in the forge slowly started to fade.
Lucifer finished his work. He set aside five bulbs and left the rest in the forge.
Then he stepped outside.
Mia was waiting for him.
Lucifer carefully picked up the five bulbs and walked back toward the ducal residence with his mother.
Behind the forge,
light was still burning.
And for Sinflare Augustiland,
this was not just one day.....
this was the beginning of a new habit.
