In the city of Astrael under the Tenkuu-no-Kyōkai (Sky Boundary) voices filled the city voices from the merchants to the streets to the clashing of swords from adventurers training and magicians practicing, children playing the sound of water gushing and moving around, footsteps from different locations on the wornout stone ground laughter and arguments break out the city is bustling and different things are happening at the same time
Rin Avel walks through the city looking for adventures to pickup and like any other curious boy he's just interested in anything fun closeby
He carries his sword and a bag filled with equipment ready to go for a training session and as he walks the weight of the sword and the bag reminds him that the days are not easy but he doesn't have any other choice but to push through
Above the city the sky is stretched endlessly and so bright
Rin Avel looks up and thinks to himself "Nobody looks up anymore, the sky is just there unchanged and nothing happens but I think we should all be focused on life on the ground because this is where we live and there's no need in wondering what happens above in the Sky Boundary when we can't see it"
As he thought to himself and walks to his training center he passes a group of adventurers in shining new armor talking about their next job as he walked someone said "lucky" he heard but didn't turn as he doesn't really care. Rin didn't respond he just adjusted his sword strap and continued his walk.
He wasn't in a hurry but he wasn't idle either he just continued his journey he passed through the parts that looked like a plaza stopped at a small bridge looked at the fish there smiled and continued his walk the training center was a bit far even though it was a stone throw away the city had been divided in he past based on tribe and people but now because different clans had mixed it was separated based on money, class and bloodline.
Rin Avel looked at the tall buildings and the short ones but he didn't have a thought in mind when he did so though he just loved the peace in the air but aprt from that he also love the smell of the food from bakeries and some cafes. Even though he likes the peace and quiet he didn't like the heat for him it was a silent killer and he especially didn't like the smell of metal too, walking through the city had different feelings to it there would be some really noisy places and in some places it would be really quiet and in some really spooky and Rin didn't like the really spooky and quiet places and obviously this city had the slums this was where most vermin stayed it was an awful place to be as everything goes wrong in that place, just thinking about it gave one the shudders.
He was passing the dungeon and saw some adventurers returning and also some that had a few casualties, some of the adventurers had already lost an arm or two some a leg or even their eyesight, well in the dungeon you don't always enter and come out for free and of course it pays and a lot at that but it's really dangerous and he sees the people of mixed races and tribes walking together and says to himself "Is it really a good thing for us to mix up like this, we'll I couldn't care less"
He finally reaches the training center and adventurers are getting their stats updated and an adventure activates his sigil briefly it shines bright and stops and he is giving a Class because the sisgils evolve based on your rank and the adventurer is set aside for a higher rank mission and is given new badge that he pastes on his chest plate to show his rank and he is b-rank on the other hand Rin is f-rank and is still training as all f-ranks have been banned from entering the dungeon because the dungeon evolves and they will not be able to handle it, so he does his normal training and decides to go home, it's already evening and on his way home he meets his good friend and only friend Aren Bellis and they go home together.
Aren is a rank D and is two years older than him and they are both from the same bloodline so they live together and yes there are other people even girls that are from the same bloodline but he doesn't have the interest to know them as he sees it as stress.
He tells Aren that he can head on home and he wants to do something Aren goes on like nothing happens only waving afterwards and Rin goes to a blacksmith to get a sword of his desire that's what he wants but doesn't have the money for it so he is desperate to train and earn it especially because his sword is now old and chipped.
The blacksmith is an old man that Rin runs some errands for after the days training to earn money and pay for his dream sword so he is sent to pickup some materials for sword making and he hurries on and on the way back he meets some adventurers and they see him as weak and want to bully him so they go up to him and say "Hey you, what's your rank" Rin says "I'm f-rank" and laugh at him and want to make fun of him but he quickly disappears because he knows nothing good will come out of an encounter like that.
Well it wasn't something that happened for the first time as even in the peaceful city Astrael they are a lot of evil people who take other people's lives for sport or just love to bully the weak.
When Rin was younger he wanted to be a hero that could stop all he vermin and remove the wrong but he didn't start strong didn't get any specialties and woke up to reality and he knew it wasn't for him so even if he saw something going wrong he would turn a blind eye to it because he no longer had willpower and never had the strength.
He reaches the old man's shop right on time before he closes and gives him the goods the old man asks him if he faced any trouble and he said he didn't and there was no need for the old an to worry and now it's time for him to hop home.
