"Hubby, when did you come back?" she asked drowsily. "Why didn't you wake me?"
Ryan sat down by the bed and spoke gently. "I wanted you to sleep a little longer. How is it now? Does your stomach still hurt?"
He had been uneasy all day, worried that she might be uncomfortable alone at home.
Mary shook her head. "It's better now. It hurt a little earlier. I went back to the old building this morning."
She sighed inwardly. Her stomach hadn't hurt when she was fighting earlier, but the moment she calmed down, the pain came back. Her period was truly infuriating.
"Do you want me to rub your stomach?" Ryan asked softly.
He remembered how he had spent the entire night doing just that, even though it left him overheated and forced him into a cold shower. As long as she felt better, it had been worth it.
"There's no need," Mary replied. "Just sit with me for a bit."
