Chapter 3 - Emily

Jack had already prepared a long list of comforting words in his head.

He thought he would have to persuade Evan, maybe even buy him a drink or two to calm him down.

But Evan's reaction completely threw him off.

More importantly—

What the hell did he mean by "the next one will have even longer legs"?

Lily Carter had been the undisputed beauty of the dance department.

When she started dating Evan, their entire group of single friends had practically gone insane with envy.

And honestly, one of the things they envied the most wasn't even her face.

It was her figure.

A slim waist, long legs, perfect proportions.

She was the kind of girl who could wear the simplest clothes and still turn heads everywhere she went.

Now Evan had broken up with her.

And he actually thought he could find someone even prettier?

With an even better body?

Evan didn't want to say it out loud, but that sounded completely unrealistic.

"Let's go grab something to eat on College Row."

About ten minutes later, Evan and Jack walked into a small noodle shop just off campus.

Because it was so close to the university, students who were tired of dining hall food often came here for a change.

The place wasn't fancy, but it was cheap, filling, and popular among students.

But Evan wasn't here for the food at all.

He had a clear goal.

System Mission:

Proactively get to know a woman with an overall score of 70 or higher.

From the moment Evan sat down, his gaze casually drifted toward the street outside, scanning the crowd that passed by the glass windows.

He looked relaxed, but his attention was sharp.

Seventy points wasn't low.

Most of the so-called "goddesses" online were the product of filters, lighting, angles, and heavy editing.

Plenty of girls who looked like solid 90s in photos barely reached 50 in real life.

A real-life 70+ was already considered genuinely beautiful.

For example, Lily Carter—Evan's ex—was about 75 points.

That alone was enough to make her the pride of the dance department.

"Bro," Jack said with a grin, nudging him, "you checking out girls?"

College Row was full of eye candy.

Especially in summer.

Every mealtime, the street was full of shorts, skirts, tank tops, and long bare legs.

Guys couldn't help sneaking glances.

Evan thought that kind of behavior was a little pathetic.

If you're going to look, look openly.

Still, after observing for more than ten minutes, the highest system score he saw was only 65.

Not bad—but not good enough.

Evan shook his head slightly, ready to finish eating and try another location.

But just then—

Jack suddenly stiffened.

"Dude… my goddess Emily Monroe just walked in."

Jack's voice dropped instinctively, and he nervously glanced toward the entrance.

Evan followed his gaze.

Two girls had just entered the noodle shop.

One tall. One short.

The taller one was Emily Monroe.

She was about 5'6", with fair skin and long hair flowing past her shoulders.

Today she was wearing an oversized T-shirt and light-colored ultra-short denim shorts.

When she walked, the shirt barely covered the shorts, making it look like she wasn't wearing anything underneath.

Only a pair of long, pale, perfectly shaped legs were visible.

The illusion alone made several guys in the shop unconsciously hold their breath.

The girl beside her wasn't ugly either, but she was only around 5'1".

Standing next to Emily, her legs looked noticeably shorter.

The two sat down at a table.

Almost immediately, Emily became the center of attention in the shop.

Guys tried to look casual while stealing glances.

Some pretended to check their phones.

Others stared outright.

Ding! A target meeting the conditions has been found.

Name: Emily Monroe

Age: 19

Appearance: 87 points

Figure: 89points

Overall: 88points

Favorabilitytowardyou: 50 points

Evan froze.

His pupils shrank slightly.

What the hell?

Fifty favorability?

Why was Emily Monroe's favorability toward him that high?

He double-checked the information carefully, pretending to look away while using his peripheral vision.

No mistake.

The number was real.

But that made no sense.

He barely knew her.

They were in different majors.

At most, they had crossed paths in a few general-education classes.

They had never spoken properly.

Never exchanged contact info.

If it weren't for the system prompt, Evan would never have guessed that Emily Monroe had such a high opinion of him.

Evan glanced at Jack with a strange expression.

"Bro," Jack whispered nervously, "do you think I should go ask her for her Instagram?"

"I don't even know if she has a boyfriend right now…"

"If I just walk over like this, won't it be too sudden?"

Jack muttered to himself.

He really liked Emily Monroe.

She was his ideal type.

But Jack also knew his own situation.

Average looks.

No money.

No standout talents.

No sports skills.

In front of Emily, he never had the confidence to approach her.

Evan patted Jack's arm.

"Man, all that overthinking is just pointless suffering."

"What do you mean by that?"

"It means it's useless."

"…Damn."

"To be honest," Evan said bluntly, "I don't think you have much of a chance. Don't fantasize."

"Hey—bro, that's a little too direct…"

Jack sighed bitterly. "So what do you think I should do?"

Evan paused for a moment, then said seriously:

"How about… I go for her?"

Jack's eyes widened instantly.

"WHAT?"

"Bro, what are you talking about?"

His brain nearly short-circuited.

I have no chance… and you're just going to make a move?

"I'm just saying—hypothetically," Evan continued calmly.

"If I managed to get Emily Monroe, you wouldn't blame me, right?"

With a favorability of 50, as long as Evan didn't do anything overly aggressive, Emily likely wouldn't reject him.

Jack stood there in silence.

Evan's words had completely fried his brain.

"Dude… I treat you like a brother, and you treat me like an idiot?"

"What idiot? Don't make it sound so ugly."

Evan patted his shoulder.

"Relax. We're roommates. If I succeed, I'll tell you first so you can… feel involved."

Jack: "..."

So he gets the girl.

And I get emotional damage?

"Besides," Evan added, "there are plenty of jerks on campus.

If I don't make a move, some scumbag probably will.

Wouldn't it be better if it were me?"

Jack frowned deeply.

After thinking for a long time, he could only sigh.

"…I hate how much sense that makes."

Evan stood up.

He walked toward Emily's table casually, without hesitation.

"Hey," Evan said with a relaxed smile, "mind if I add you on Instagram?"

Instantly, several nearby tables turned to look.

Who's this guy?

He's hitting on Emily Monroe?

Bold.

Respect.

Emily looked up, slightly surprised.

She was used to being approached.

Most of the time, she politely declined.

But this boy was different.

She recognized him.

More than that—she had a good impression of him.

She'd long grown tired of handsome faces and flashy types.

What attracted her was presence.

And Evan's calm confidence—mature, relaxed, slightly roguish—had stayed in her mind since the first time she noticed him in class.

She just hadn't expected him to approach her like this.

"…Sure," Emily said softly, nodding.

Evan added her.
