Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

I look back at the orphanage that just kicked me out and release a sigh. I am not angry or anything, just sad. I am sad that I need to leave the orphanage and many of my friends as I reach the Age of Maturity.

So, at the age of seventeen, I needed to leave the orphanage and stand on my own two legs.

When I reincarnated into this world, I thought I would be born into a noble family like in novels and comics. Sadly, that is not the case. I reincarnated as an orphan and grew up in the orphanage. The caretakers are kind and religious people. They never once do anything inappropriate toward us.

Oh, don't get me wrong. They are not celibate; instead, they are the opposite.

In this world, there are Gods. They exist and are relatively active. The caretakers are worshippers of the Goddess of Light, Life, and Healing. The Church of Light does not demand its priests and nuns to be celibate. It is the opposite.

The church encourages people to have sex and have children. However, the religion does not encourage rampant propagation. It encourages humanity to grow in number, but it also commands that all life is important and teaches that the Goddess will smite anyone who willingly abandons children without good reason.

It is also said that the church is the first organization to create contraception in the world in the form of potions, spells, and condoms.

It can be permanent, semi-permanent, or momentary contraception.

The church is more than willing to sell its services to ordinary people at very low prices, which is why it funds almost all orphanages worldwide. It turns out that contraception is a lucrative trade.

Anyway, that is the reason the orphanage can handle all the children who lose their parents to plague, war, and monsters. My parents lost their lives to monsters, and a priest found me tucked inside an opening in a tree.

Anyway, with me gone, I need to think about what I should do from now on.

As I walk along the road, I blink for a second when I see the entire sky change. The blue sky turns dark purple, and slowly, it begins to show video footage. Ah, it looks like it is that time of day.

What is that? Well, it is a broadcasting system. Who makes it? The Creator. Not a God of Creation, but rather the Creator who made this universe, not only the world. When I said the Gods of this world are relatively active, I meant it.

This system is entertainment for the Gods, but it is also a survival system. How? Well, the creator of this universe does not know where to throw all the negative energy the universe produces and decides to do something about it.

So, this system was created. Someone is chosen at random each week and put on trial. In this trial, they must fight waves of monsters. The negative energy of the universe creates those monsters, and the more the challenger kills, the fewer monsters spawn in the world they are from.

The man currently fighting is a new fighter from our world. He is lean and holding a sword. I let out a sigh when I see the fighter shaking with fright. It looks like we will receive another surge of monsters soon.

When someone dies in that trial, they die in real life.

It is grim, I know. However, it is a necessity. The creator shows other planets where people curse his name and would rather die than follow this trial. Well, let's just say their planet becomes a Death World, and the creator blows up their solar systems.

We can see them in the night sky because those systems are not too far from ours. The explosions are so strong that the light reaches our system.

It does not happen overnight. The creator shows them what happens when a planet no longer enters the trial. Monsters pour through every crevice of the planet and devour everything they can. Leave them long enough, and they can devour divine beings and eventually cosmic energy.

So the creator decides to blow up the solar system and prevent them from spreading.

So, it is grim to send a person to fight monsters alone, but it is better than letting your planet die. When you die in the trial, any government—whether a republic, empire, or kingdom—will take care of your family.

The gods of this world make this decree, and anyone who dares to disobey will be punished, and the punishment is not something you want. There are a few kings who think they can do whatever they want because they are kings and decide not to follow what the Gods command.

The result? Their entire bloodlines are gone. Even innocent people die because of the Gods' wrath, and those countries enter a state of emergency. They immediately take care of the fallen families before they even choose a king to lead the country.

Anyway, there is a reason almost all people randomly chosen by the system accept their fate and are willing to fight for their lives without fear of death. If they are weak, they will try to kill as many monsters as possible before going down because it helps a little. It still causes a surge of monsters, but at least it becomes slightly better.

Because when they died, their family were taken care of.

I shake my head and continue walking to the inn near the northern gate. I need to secure accommodation first before going around searching for a job. When I enter the inn, I rent a room for three days and go there.

Lucky for me, I have savings from working part-time around the city. My savings should allow me to stay here for a month. That should be enough for me to look for a job and plan my future.

I sit on the chair near the window and release a sigh. Should I go to the Monster Hunter Guild? I don't want that risky job. However, the reward for each mission is great. Maybe I should become a Monster Hunter for a few years and then buy a plot of land somewhere in the forest? Not too far from the city, but just outside it, where monsters are relatively few.

The land should be affordable enough for me to buy in 5 to 7 years of working. Ten if I want to build a bigger house.

Yeah. Let's do that. I have always wanted a slow life. My previous life was nothing but work and more work. Having a slow life where I only need to tend a farm and maybe take care of a few animals sounds like heaven.

I can also help the people in the orphanage by sending fresh food during harvest time. With that plan in mind, I prepare to go to the guild.

However, before I can even stand up, a blue screen appears in front of me.

Congratulations on reaching the Age of Maturity! You are now the owner of Chaos Gacha.

What? What is Chaos Gacha? I know what gacha is, but what is Chaos Gacha?

Chaos Gacha is a system that lets users obtain powers from across the Omniverse at random. The user will receive Tickets after performing certain feats. Tickets are divided into eight tiers: Bronze → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Diamond → Legendary → Mythical → Divine. You receive 3 Gold Tickets as a starting bonus. Do you want to roll them?

Yes, please.

I watch as it spins, and after a few seconds, it stops.

[Deed to Land]

Uncommon Item

A deed to land. Just rip this deed in half, and you will have always owned land in a location that is favorable to you.

This is… this is perfect! How do I take an item out?

You can take an item by thinking about it. All items received from Chaos Gacha can be stored inside a pocket dimension. However, only items from Chaos Gacha can be stored inside.

Right. That is good to know. I take out the deed and rip it in half. A second later, another piece of paper appears in my hand, and I smile. This document is a deed stating that I am the owner of a piece of land just outside the city.

It also says that I own a small house on the land. It is signed by the local lord and is an official document.

As long as I have this document, no one can take the land from me other than the king himself. With a smile, I decide to roll another ticket.

[Fishman Karate]

Epic Skill

One Piece - You have knowledge of Fishman Karate, the unique martial art invented by Fishmen that allows them to manipulate water offensively alongside martial arts. You can use preexisting water to enhance the power of your blows, disrupt the fluids inside your opponent with your hits, or transmit the power of your fists through moisture in the air. You begin as a White Belt and can train to reach higher levels of mastery.

I hold back a grunt as a massive rush of knowledge enters my brain. Knowledge of how to punch, defend, and counterattack floods my mind and is injected directly into my body. My body absorbs the knowledge without a problem thanks to this injection.

I need to train to develop stronger techniques, but I can do so after a few days.

With this, I do not need to worry about monsters. As long as I train hard, I can use this skill to defend myself. With a happy smile, I press the roll button once again and spend the last ticket.

[Brand of Khorne]

Epic Trait

Warhammer 40k - You wear the brand of Khorne, the Blood God, greatly increasing your propensity for combat. Your instincts are heightened in the midst of battle, and you have greater intuition for using any weapon or skill, making you a natural killing machine. You can track blood and sense killing intent as if it were second nature. Note: Brands do not connect you to the Chaos Gods or the Warp.

I grunt softly as I feel hot energy coursing through my body. I read through the description of the trait I received and widen my eyes. I know about Warhammer, and I know of Khorne. However, before I can panic, I read the last part of the description and release a relieved sigh.

That is good because I don't want to become a berserker who wants nothing but to spill blood. This trait will work well together with Fishman Karate.

I am really lucky to receive two Epic-tier powers from the gacha, and both of them are very good. The last one is a bit ominous, but it is still excellent. I release a sigh and stand up. It is time for me to see my land and prepare to become a farmer.
