Dark spirit animals sneered at Megan and the rest as they made their way toward the church. They couldn't get close to them because of Megan's blood.
"For them to hate seeing your blood, you must be a dark queen…"
"I'm not," Megan scoffed. "I'm a white witch," she sighed.
"Not necessarily," Simon frowned. "Waking them up is the most important thing… we're here."
They all stopped in front of the huge church, very old and covered with cobwebs. "Yeah, it looks sealed. Make it open," Caius said. "Where's your wand?" he asked in confusion, while the rest stared at her, expecting her to pull it out.
"I…I don't have a wand."
"Are you even a witch?" Simon frowned. " Then use an incantation."
Megan shook her head. "I don't know any. Even if I had a wand, what about the incantation?"
"Shit! We've been tricked!" the rest complained.
Megan slowly closed her eyes for a moment, then suddenly opened them and stared at the door. It flung open instantly. Everywhere went silent as they all stared at her in shock.
"You used magic without a wand or incantation?" Caius gasped.
Simon nodded toward the open door. "Good job, kid. Now come here and wake them quickly."
"Don't go in first! Let her go in first!" Caius added.
Megan sighed and placed her blood at the entrance. Black smoke burst out suddenly, followed by a piercing scream. The vampires immediately covered their ears.
"What the fuck?" one of them complained.
"It's a beast guarding the entrance. It's invisible," Caius explained.
Megan entered and stared at the two coffins on the floor. "Stubborn souls," she murmured.
The rest followed and frowned. "Where's the third one?" Simon asked.
"The dark witches must have taken their queen already," Klaus sighed.
"That means they're in this forest too," Simon said, turning to the others. "Stay alert. Our Alphas will be weak once they awaken."
"Yes, Supreme Beta!" they replied, drawing their weapons and spreading out.
Caius joined Simon and nodded at Megan.
"What's next?" he asked.
Thinking about how mighty ancient vampires and werewolves were waiting for her next move made her feel strangely special. She wasn't afraid of ordinary Werewolves or vampires. She knew how to defend herself against them.
Her greatest fear was Werewolves like Ezekiel's and his people, especially Simon, who looked dangerously handsome yet deadly. She used to wonder what it felt like to be their mate, to tame them. Perhaps their Moon Goddess was even scarier for giving her two of the most dangerous ones. Did she really hate witches that much?
"Uhmm… we have to wait till evening."
Their expressions changed. "Yes. The first blood moon will appear tonight, and you know what that means."
They exchanged looks and nodded. "If they awaken, the blood moon will meet them here. No matter how cunning those dark witches are, they won't succeed."
"You think we aren't strong enough to hold them down?" a vampire scoffed.
"I'm not saying that," Simon replied calmly. "But know this, you won't see them if they turn invisible. I'm talking about ancient witches."
"I'll see them," Simon said lazily.
Megan froze. "You can see them in their invisible form?"
Simon's green eyes locked onto hers. Megan held her breath, it was the first time she was truly looking at them. "Ah… sorry for offending you," she bowed quickly, then looked up, only to find him still staring. "I only asked because…."
"They aren't invisible," Simon interrupted. "It's a cape that makes them appear that way. That's why we can see them."
Megan's eyes widened. The witches must not know about this… oh no!
"Why are you telling me this?" she asked nervously. Is he testing me?
Simon chuckled and stepped closer. "I'm not a baby, Megan. I watched your mother grow and her mother…." He paused and gritted his teeth. "You think I don't know witches well?"
Megan blinked. "You know witches must never hear this, yet you're telling me? I won't say anything," she said quickly.
"I know they've been investigating us. And you…" He paused, walking toward the coffins. "You know nothing."
"You shouldn't trust her, Simon," Caius warned, frowning.
"Don't worry," Megan sighed. "I'm planning to run away. I won't tell them anything. I just feel bad for my mom. Those elder witches have intentions I don't understand. After waking your Alphas, I'll disappear."
"What?" Klaus' eyes widened. "You're the mate of our Alphas…"
"Klaus!" Simon snapped, but it was too late.
"You… you knew I was their mate even without the full moon?" Megan trembled. "You knew about our prophecy?"
"Is that even a question?" Klaus scoffed. "The Werewolves know everything about your prophecy."
"Wow…" Megan shook her head. "I won't tell them that either. But I don't want to stay. Maybe I should wake them before the full moon and leave."
"Why are you running away?" Caius asked in confusion.
"They'll kill me because I'm a witch!"
"How sure are you?" Caius chuckled. "Aren't you their mate?"
"You're right, but I'll pay for crimes I didn't commit," Megan replied bitterly. "I wasn't born with permission. If I knew I'd be born here, I would've rejected them a hundred times."
The group stared at her in amusement."So you're scared of being tortured?" Simon raised a brow. "What kind of torture?" Caius teased. "On the bed?"
Megan blushed and looked away. "I know you're acting nice because I'm the only one who can wake them," she sighed. "Just let me go afterwards."
"You're not going anywhere," Simon growled.
"I was born a princess. I won't let your Alphas treat me like a slave. I'm different."
Simon rolled his eyes and glanced at the sky through the broken window.
"You think your magic can work on them?"
"Nope. I know they have special abilities. My magic won't work on them," she replied calmly. "But I know how to disappear very well."
"Hehehe," Klaus burst into laughter. "Lazy Luna!"
Simon glared at him. "We have ten minutes," he sighed, then looked at Megan. "How do you know all this?"
"I read it in a secret witch library. I was learning disappearing spells when I found myself appearing in front of a golden book. It spoke about Alpha Ezekiel moving things with his mind, that's controlling, it's one of the most powerful soul powers. That's why the Dark Queen wants him gone."
Simon's eyes darkened. "Who else knows?"
"No one. I stole the book. It showed I was the second reader, the first person was the writer, the Dark Queen herself. I'm only protecting myself."
Simon smirked. "Where's the book?"
Megan glanced at her bag. "With me."
He nodded. "Since you know part of our secret, you will be in our custody."
"Ah… no, your Alphas…"
"They won't hurt you!" Caius snapped.
"Start the ritual! It's evening!" someone shouted. Megan swallowed nervously, took a dagger, and approached the coffins. She cut her palm and splashed blood on them. Dark smoke rose and vanished.
Using her mind, she opened the coffins, revealing two identical men. Their expressions are cold, their skin is very clean, and they look youthful, as if they are in their early thirties. She couldn't tell them apart.
She looked at the others. They nodded. She clenched her fists and placed her blood into their mouths. Thunder roared violently as the ground shook. Megan stumbled back from the overwhelming power. Everyone dropped to one knee and bowed.
Then the twins' eyes flew open, revealing deep golden-yellow eyes.
