Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12

"Go straight to the point, Jace. I don't have time for your perverted, useless jokes,"

Kai growled dangerously.

"What is the message from the organization all about?"

Jace stayed silent for a few moments before replying.

[Why do I feel like you're deliberately trying not to talk about her?] Jace teased.

Kai was practically fuming. Veins bulged on his forehead, clear proof of his rising anger. After a moment, he finally forced himself to calm down.

"Jace, are you going to tell me or not?" Kai said in a low, restrained tone.

[Haha, alright, enough teasing. But I wasn't joking when I asked about your foreplay skills.]

Kai sighed in frustration.

"I assume the clan and the organization didn't send you to ask me that."

[Nope.] Jace admitted immediately, his playful tone only pushing Kai closer to the edge.

"Do you have any idea how lucky you are?" Kai said, his voice trembling slightly with anger as his eyes twitched.

[Of course. I'd already be dead if you could kill me—but too bad you can't. So now you're going to listen carefully to what I have to say.]

Jace chuckled briefly before his voice shifted, turning serious.

[I've received word from the higher-ups in the organization. But first, I need to ask you a few questions. It's protocol.]

Though Kai was annoyed, he couldn't help feeling a faint sense of amusement. Jace's ability to switch from irritatingly playful to calm professionalism was something Kai had witnessed many times, yet it never failed to intrigue him.

Kai could switch personas as well—but there was always a flaw.

He didn't know how to pretend to be happy.

"Fine," Kai said coldly. "Let's just get it over with. "

"First, I need to ask—has the Divine Elixir been acting strange on certain occasions?"

Kai shrugged casually.

"She's always been weird."

Jace let out a slow sigh on the other end of the line.

This is going to be difficult…

"Has she been restless lately?" Jace continued. "The kind where she flinches when you touch her. Have you ever noticed any… unusual scent? Something that stirs your instincts?"

Kai's brows knitted together in confusion.

"I don't understand what you're trying to say," he replied flatly. "And to answer your last question—no."

"For heaven's sake," Jace snapped. "Haven't you been sent on international missions? If you can't grasp something this basic, how the hell did you keep passing with excellent results.

Kai growled again, a feral edge creeping into his voice.

"I still don't see how this has anything to do with my mission—and frankly, I don't care. If you keep spouting nonsense, I'm hanging up. You're not the only agent in the Black Dragon Division. I can give them a call, and they won't waste my time rambling like you are now."

"…You're really difficult to talk to," Jace sighed from the other end. "Anyway—according to historical records, long before and after the Avian Era, every descendant of the Divine Elixir undergoes a special and intense metabolic phase known as the Nuptial Yin Period."

Kai's expression stiffened slightly as he listened.

"During this period," Jace continued, "a unique hormone is secreted from the ovaries—similar to estrogen, but far more potent."

Kai remained silent, listening attentively.

"At this stage, the Elixir—who is always female—develops a powerful, untamed sexual urge. Along with it, a strong fragrance known as Aphrodite is released from her body."

Jace paused briefly before continuing.

"This fragrance is dangerous. It can ensnare both humans and supernaturals alike, trapping them in an endless cycle of desire until it dissipates. It can spread within a fifteen-yard radius—sometimes farther—especially if her urges remain unsatisfied."

Jace finally stopped to catch his breath.

"I trust you understand the implications?"

Kai didn't respond immediately. He remained silent for a moment, weighing the situation carefully.

"It means I can be tracked easily by enemies," he said at last.

"Exactly!" Jace exclaimed. "[But don't misunderstand—I never said you have to sleep with her. Doing that could cause serious complications for both the clan and the organization.]"

"Then what do you suggest?" Kai growled. "You're starting to sound nonsensical again."

Jace chuckled.

"Man, you really are hard to deal with. Fine—since you can't go that far, there's another option. I assume you've at least heard of foreplay?"

"…And?" Kai replied flatly.

"[Since I now know you're completely hopeless in that department, I'll be sending you some coordinates—and a thumbnail. Make sure you look closely, especially at the thumbnail.]"

Jace paused, then added teasingly,

"[Or—if you want—I can just come over and help you personally.]"

"Alright," Kai replied calmly. "Do that."

"…Wait, are you serious?" Jace exclaimed.

"Sure," Kai said, before abruptly ending the call with a cold snort.

"Idiot"

Kai placed his phone back into his pocket and began to scan his surroundings. The small house was surrounded by dense, tall purple trees. Each of these trees had the same unique and mysterious feature—it was the strange fruit shrouded in dark purple mist that hung from their branches, causing the entire area to be covered in haze and forming a dark sky above the trees.

Kai stood stiffly, staring at the sky emotionlessly as the wind brushed over his face.

That idiot was so annoying that I completely forgot to ask him when it was supposed to happen.

Or perhaps he was just too stupid to tell me.

While he was deeply lost in thought, the dark clouds above slowly began to dissipate.

Kai noticed immediately.

What is this?

Confusion quickly turned into alarm as he saw the dark clouds disappearing faster than before.

He rushed back into the house. The moment he stepped inside, his body suddenly trembled as a sharp smell assaulted his nose. It was mysterious and sweet—far more intoxicating than any fine fragrance Kai had ever encountered.

The entire room was filled with a thick, light-blue mist.

Kai's body trembled violently as a powerful sensation coursed through him. He couldn't explain what was happening, but suddenly an animalistic growl escaped his lips and his eyes turned slightly red. Kai bent forward, clutching his chest.

"You can't… not now. I won't let you," Kai muttered under his breath.

As he looked down, his eyes widened in shock. His erection was growing rapidly, becoming stiff and creating an obvious bulge in his pants.

"Could it be…" he thought as realization slowly dawned on him.

He rushed toward Rin's room, effectively ignoring the mist by blocking his airflow.

When he reached her room, Rin was nowhere to be found.

A flicker of panic crossed his face. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he tried to call out to her, but he stopped midway, realizing he didn't even know her name.

He rushed to his own room next, hoping to find her there, his movements gradually turning into a blur.

Kai flung the door open—

Only to see a sight that completely stunned him, stopping him cold where he stood.
