Chapter 48 - Gargant

The streets were filled with the smell of gunpowder and blood, mixed with the peculiar stench of the Orks. Broken ruins and wreckage were scattered on the ground, forming a dirty mire.

The Ork Warboss, Harkya Bloodaxe, was striding through the chaos towards his destination.

His iron boots crunched on the rubble. His massive, nearly three-meter-tall body was extremely conspicuous, and his skin was covered with dark, heavy metal plates, making him look particularly ferocious.

Clearly, Harkya was not in a good mood.

Because bad news kept coming, one after another.

First, the dozen or so ambush positions that he thought he had arranged so well melted like dew under the scorching sun in the face of the shrimp's armored onslaught.

Mines, bunkers, tunnels, barbed wire, anti-tank trenches... none of this could stop the rolling tide of steel.

Although he had fought the cunning shrimp Commander before, Harkya never expected the opponent to be so fierce and to perfectly counter his blocking tactics, without delaying the attack by even a second.

Then, there was the Speed Freaks company that Harkya had placed high hopes on. That madman who boasted all day long swore that he would avenge the shrimp.

The result? They couldn't even inflict a little damage to the shrimp's armored vehicles, dying like Gretchin, completely useless.

Immediately afterwards, Harkya organized a group of Stormboyz and had them dive down at a suitable location, trying to attack the top of the tanks and destroy the shrimp's armor.

However, the anti-aircraft vehicle teams' anti-aircraft guns were as dense as raindrops. The Stormboyz, flying in the air with rocket packs, also fell like rain, turning into wreckage in the face of the artillery fire.

Thinking of this, Harkya Bloodaxe's heart was filled with confusion and anger.

Gork and Mork above!

Why?

When he first led the clan to break through this Hive City, everything was so easy that it made the Orks laugh.

With just a little feigned attack, the so-called shrimp Governor was so frightened that he shut himself up and refused to come out, giving up the lower Hive City and allowing the clan to develop easily.

When the completely expanded Ork army attacked the Governor's mansion at the top of the tower, those weak shrimp guards collapsed at the first touch. Harkya easily tore off the Governor's head as his trophy.

At that time, he really believed that the Orks were the masters of this world.

But now, those weak shrimp are destroying his defenses with amazing efficiency. Their armored torrent breaks through as easily as a hot knife through butter, with perfect coordination and accurate firepower.

Harkya even wondered if they and those previous guards were really the same species?

Just then, as the Ork Warboss was lost in thought, another Greenskin Boy staggered over to report the latest bad news.

[The shrimp's army has successfully broken through to the upper Hive City and is heading towards the Void Shield generator.]

This news made Harkya suddenly react.

Void Shield!

If this thing is completely destroyed, the shrimp's big ship may descend above the Hive City and launch an attack.

This is absolutely not allowed!

Don't even think about it, absolutely not!

"All Greenskin Boyz who can fight, come with me!"

Harkya roared, his voice like thunder, "Let those shrimp see what a real waaagh! is!"

At this moment, in front of the gathered Orks, a tall, giant mech made of countless metals stood quietly... On the other side.

"It seems we are making good progress. The Orks are retreating."

Adam said thoughtfully.

Inside the arrogance bastion's cabin, Yarrick glanced at this mysterious person who had always been shrouded in mystery. He did not observe, as if he could see the outside scene.

"Indeed, you are right."

Yarrick replied, "But it can't always go so smoothly. According to my understanding of them, the more critical the moment, the more likely these damn aliens are to pull off something big."

As if to confirm his words, the earth suddenly began to tremble slightly.

It was not a local tremor caused by shelling, but a vibration of the entire area.

The rumbling footsteps spread throughout the battlefield, as if some behemoth was walking towards them with heavy steps.

Almost at the same moment, all the Greenskin Boyz on the battlefield let out deafening roars.

Fanatical fighting spirit surged again, and the green tide charged towards the human forces again!

"For Gork and Mork!"

"Waaaagh!"

"Tear them apart!"

Naturally, this was of no use. The terrifying firepower network jointly formed by the Armageddon Steel Legion and the Astartes easily tore them apart.

But the Orks followed one after another, completely disregarding casualties. Even most of them appeared to continue crawling forward, even after receiving injuries that should have caused them to fall.

"This situation..."

Adam and Yarrick frowned slightly, but quickly reacted.

Orks are a war-loving race that enjoys immense pleasure in battle, but this also leads to morale collapse when they cannot enjoy pleasure in a one-sided battle.

Previously, under Yarrick's command, they had easily crushed all the Orks in front of them with overwhelming firepower. The Greenskin Boyz had actually shown some signs of war-weariness.

Their desire to attack shouldn't be so high.

The appearance of this abnormal phenomenon obviously meant that the opposing Warboss had definitely pulled off something earth-shattering, rekindling the Orks' hope of fighting.

Of course, Adam soon knew why.

Through the psychic vision of Sibylla, hidden in the shadows, Adam saw the behemoth rushing towards the battlefield.

It was a giant mech that appeared to be pieced together from a large amount of scrap metal. It was dozens of meters tall, with a rough red paint job on it, and the surface was covered with rust and welding scars. Its body was studded with armor plates and sharp spikes.

With its hands stretched out, the hideous weapons were exposed to the air. It was a huge rotating chainsword and a giant cannon with a terrifyingly large caliber.

And on the face of this giant mech was a hideous Ork face cast from steel.

It's even a smiling face, damn it.

Around this huge heavy mech were Ork tank units emitting billowing black smoke. These war machines, which were modified and assembled from stolen industrial machinery, were now gathering in unprecedented numbers.

"...It's just an Ork Ancient Gargant."

Adam opened his eyes, his voice still calm and composed.
