"She's even bigger again!"

Tessia's surprised voice pulled me out of my morning meditation. I opened my eyes to find her standing at the entrance of my room, pointing at Sylvie, who was curled up in my lap, spinning around.

And she was right. Sylvie had grown noticeably over the past two weeks.

When she was born two months ago, she was the size of a housecat. Now she was the size of a medium dog, her wings had grown proportionally, and her horns were more prominent. Her black-and-silver scales shone with a luster they hadn't had before.

"Good morning, flower girl," Sylvie yawned telepathically, stretching like a feline. "Did you bring me treats?"

"Maybe later," Tessia promised, stepping inside and sitting beside us. "But seriously, Kael, have you noticed how fast Sylvie is growing?"

"I have," I admitted, stroking Sylvie's head. She purred under my touch.

The truth was, I had been monitoring her growth carefully. In the canon, Sylvie had grown at a steady but normal pace for a dragon. But this Sylvie was growing almost twice as fast.

And I knew exactly why.

The Legacy.

Sylvie spent almost as much time with me as with Arthur. She liked meditating with me, feeling the flow of all the elements through my body. And every time she did, her growth accelerated.

"Kael has the pretty colors," Sylvie explained, as if reading my thoughts. "When I'm near Kael, I feel stronger. Like the colors feed me."

Tessia frowned. "The colors?"

"My mana," I explained. "Sylvie can sense the different elements in me. And she… likes it."

"Loves it is more like it," Sylvie corrected, lifting her head to look at me with those huge golden eyes. "Kael's colors are special. They're different from Papa. Papa is warm and strong, like the sun. But Kael is like… like a rainbow. All the colors at once make me want to be near him."

Tessia looked at me curiously. "Why is your mana so different?"

Obviously because I have the Legacy. And because I'm an anomaly that shouldn't exist. Because my soul comes from another world.

But I couldn't say that.

"I think it's because of my elemental affinity," I said instead. "Virion says my mana has a 'unique quality' for being able to use so many elements at once."

It wasn't a lie, technically.

"Well, whatever it is, Sylvie clearly adores you," Tessia smiled, scratching Sylvie's ears. "Almost as much as she adores Arthur."

"I adore both equally!" Sylvie protested. "Papa is my papa. But Kael is my… my…"

She searched for the right word to name me.

"Brother?" I suggested.

"Yes! Brother! Kael is my rainbow brother."

Tessia laughed, and I couldn't help but smile at the ridiculous nickname.

A knock at the door interrupted the moment. Arthur entered, already dressed in his training clothes.

"Good morning," he greeted. His eyes immediately went to Sylvie. "Has she grown again?"

"Papa!" Sylvie leapt from my lap and flew to Arthur, who caught her with practiced ease. "Good morning, Papa! Are we going to learn to fly today?"

"Maybe later," Arthur promised, stroking her. Then he looked at me. "Virion wants to see all of us. He says he has something very important to announce."
