Chapter 5 - The System Wakes Up

After sitting down, Su Yu took out his laptop.

The screen lit up, and his fingers began to move as he typed out his plans for the future.

"Being a breeder is unavoidable."

"The orphanage's income relies on energy cubes and fruit trees."

"But the orchard is still too small."

"So… should I plant the unused land in the back?"

As he wrote this, Su Yu paused, deep in thought.

Back when the old director was still alive, his energy had been limited. As a result, the orchard he managed was modest in size. A large section of land behind the orphanage remained unused to this day.

If all of it were planted, the income would increase significantly.

Su Yu was different.

He was young. He had stamina. And he had time.

"We're short on manpower."

"So Pokémon will have to help."

"In that case… raise some Pokémon suited for labor?"

"There are also many Pokémon living in the mountains behind the orphanage."

"Maybe we can negotiate with them."

As these thoughts formed, a faint blue light flickered in Su Yu's eyes.

He possessed Psychic abilities.

Communicating with Pokémon was not difficult for him at all.

In fact, it was frighteningly easy.

However, Su Yu disliked using his Psychic powers.

Whenever he did, a strange sense of expansion would well up inside him—an inflated confidence, a false feeling of invincibility.

He hated that sensation.

It wasn't real strength. It was a distortion of mentality.

He wasn't some puffed-up Qwilfish.

So he constantly reminded himself to stay grounded.

Because once that mindset took hold, it became difficult to control.

For that reason, Su Yu rarely used his Psychic abilities.

Still, using just a small portion posed no problem.

As long as he didn't go all out.

Communicating with Pokémon required very little force anyway.

Thinking about Psychic abilities inevitably made him think about his system.

His so-called golden finger.

And that, frankly, was depressing.

The damned system had dragged him into this world, dumped a few things on him… and then vanished completely.

Like a dead dog.

[Squeak~]

A familiar sound suddenly echoed in Su Yu's mind.

The corner of his mouth twitched.

"…You're still alive?"

He genuinely hadn't expected the system to respond after all these years.

The system sighed.

[Alive. Barely.]

[Bringing you across worlds almost killed me.]

[But seeing that you're doing well, I can finally rest easy.]

[Here. These are your next rewards.]

[I will now enter hibernation again.]

As its voice faded, a torrent of knowledge flooded into Su Yu's mind.

Pokémon snack production techniques.Multiple energy cube formulas.Pokémon potion mixing methods.God-tier cooking skills.A comprehensive guide to move development.

Everything the system granted him revolved around one thing.

Breeding.

Su Yu's mental power was already extremely strong, so his brain didn't tremble or overload. He calmly sorted through the new knowledge.

Then… he typed a single question mark on his laptop.

"So even you don't want me to be a Trainer?"

"Everything you gave me belongs to the breeder path."

"…Ridiculous."

So this confirmed it.

Trainer truly wasn't meant for dogs.

Yet, after calming down, Su Yu realized something.

With this knowledge alone, he would never lack money in the future.

"Boiling large bones into broth, adding potatoes as a binding starch, then mixing in MooMoo Cheese and tree fruits…"

"That creates an energy cube that boosts physical strength?"

"And coconut milk combined with applesauce and Razz Berries can produce a Pokémon dessert they absolutely love?"

"…This is insane."

"These formulas alone could make a fortune."

"In fact, I could even register patents for them."

He paused.

"…No."

"Registering patents would expose everything."

"Releasing something before I'm fully developed is asking for trouble."

Su Yu had no intention of patenting his top-tier energy cube formulas.

Once patented, the method would become public knowledge.

Sure, others couldn't use it commercially—but private production was impossible to stop.

Any capable Trainer had their own dedicated breeder.

Raise their salary slightly, and the formula would spread everywhere.

However, after reviewing the recipes more closely, Su Yu discovered something reassuring.

Even if others knew the formulas, most wouldn't be able to replicate them.

Some steps required knowledge far beyond normal understanding.

Some required precise timing.

Some even depended on weather conditions.

Others demanded exact levels of spiritual power—no more, no less.

Especially the energy cubes designed to enhance Psychic-type Pokémon.

Those required controlled mental output during production.

This wasn't something ordinary breeders could imitate.

Realizing this, Su Yu finally relaxed.

"So this is what you call a built-in safeguard."

That said, the materials required for top-tier energy cubes were expensive.

Far beyond what Su Yu could afford right now.

For the time being, they were out of reach.

Which only further reinforced one truth—

Being a powerful Trainer was absurdly expensive.

After some thought, Su Yu made his decision.

"For now, I'll shelve the high-end formulas."

"I'll authorize and patent a few low-level and intermediate recipes instead."

"Partner with others."

"Make money first."

"Even if I don't become a Trainer…"

"There's nothing wrong with raising a few strong Pokémon."

"But before that—money comes first."

Having reached this conclusion, Su Yu nodded decisively and gave himself a thumbs-up.

Then his gaze shifted to the Pokémon egg resting beside him.

"It's a pity I don't have an Appraisal Eye."

"I can't even see its attributes."

"Well… it's been soaked in water anyway."

"Probably not anything special."

He leaned back and smiled faintly.

"From now on, I'll raise Pokémon."

"When they can beat me, I'll consider them 'graduated.'"

"What a wonderful rule."

Unbeknownst to him, if his future Pokémon ever heard this condition, they would be utterly speechless.

His system might be unreliable.

But the Psychic abilities it gave him were on Mewtwo's level.

Expecting Pokémon to defeat him?

That was borderline impossible.

Of course, Su Yu had no idea.

He didn't even know how strong he truly was.

In his mind, it was simple.

"If a Pokémon can't even beat its own master, what's the point?"

"At that stage, I might as well fight myself."

"Isn't that graduation?"

Satisfied, Su Yu lowered his head and began writing down simplified energy cube formulas—recipes not currently available on the market.

Low cost.Comparable effects.Real commercial value.

Only then was it worth doing.

And thus, the road of the strongest breeder quietly began.
