The cold night air blew over his bare chest biting into his skin mercilessly, worsening the already unbearable pain in his heart. He has been walking for hours without end, not knowing what in particular he was searching for. His body swaying left and right.No...he must find it .... The was something very far away that could sooth this deadly pain coming at him wave upon wave without mercy.Yes...it's close by he can feel it's power getting stronger and stronger calling on to him, promising him great relief.This thing, what so ever or whoever it may be gives him peace and he must find it.He can feel in himself that he has always been familiar with this strange presence calling on to him to come faster."Elliot,Elliot" says the voice finally, the voice is calm as the sea after a storm soothing and peaceful,easing the heart wrenching pain within him. His steps become urgent as he walks towards the voice that gives him peace. Standing under an old and dying tree few metres from him stood a figure of a woman with gracefully outstretched hands beckoning him to come quickly.He could feel himself smiling like an idiot in love hurrying towards her to accept her outreached hands.About a few steps to her he saw her smile disappear replace by a sorrowful expression clutching at her heart in pain she shut her eyes in pain and screamed "noooooooo" before falling heavily on her knees with blood covering her entire face clothes and everywhere eyes could touch. Elliot's pace became more frantic as he rushed to hold her in his arms.Immediately their fleshes touch he groan in pain"urgh" clutching his heart in pain but refusing to let the dying woman go.
" No leave here now they are coming, they will kill you too, you can't die please, you can't. Leave here now" she screamed trying to push him away with the little strength she had left. she cried miserably pleading that he leaves the place immediately . At that point all he cared about was her and nothing else.He held onto her tightly while she cried and begged him to leave.He didn't know why even though in pain he felt at peace where he was.He does not know her yet he couldn't bring himself to leave her.He also didn't know who she was saying will kill him was.
"who are you?" was all he managed to say when he finally was able to speak with a choked voice.
"It does not matter who I am now you ..Cough....cough...go back and find our son please he is our only treasure. They will stop at nothing until they wipe us all out they will use his blood to do the unthinkable they will ruin him a.....nd end him.... save him please" The light in her eyes faded right before his eyes multiplying the ripples of pain in an instant.His felt like his heart was being torn apart he felt like was being torn apart limb by limb, which was actually happening until he sunk into oblivion.
Elliot woke up drenched in sweat like so many buckets of water was poured over him in bed.He tried recalling the dream countless time but a lot of the pieces were not coming together.He could not remember what the woman looked like or where he had seen her, he could not recall who she said he should save or who was going to kill him too. He did not even want to relieve the part where his limbs were being severed. Its been three years now having the same dream over and over again, relieving this nightmare without cure.The most renowned doctors have proved themselves useless in curing him that he has accepted his fate now.The best he can do for himself now is to get busy with work for the rest of the night.For a man who owns almost everything man could think of, he is tagged as a workaholic. Samantha has been in the community library for four hours now looking for a particular book that would give her more details about dreams She has has been going around so long that someone may think she was just trying to call attention to herself, as if she has to try. she had been the object of interest since she walked in because of her thick afro and dark skin.They were least of her worries because she came here for something very important. Yesterday she had a very weird dream she could not clearly recall. In fact she remembers nothing all she knows is that it was a terrible dream because she lost something very precious. Back at home before she came to country B she remembers very well that her mother told her " healer don't dream naana, they feel and respond as needed" this was when she one day asked why she does not dream like her other cousins do.She clearly told her that if she ever dreams she should make sure she remembers it at all cost, IT may be good or bad omen.In here family line,they are fortunate to be blessed by God with rare abilities that are used to help as many people as possible if only they are pure with no thoughts of evil.She was was blessed with the healing ability which is very rare, because of this her parents made he pursue medicine to not call to much attention to herself . It would just look like a doctor treating her patient and nothing more. over the years she has been working she has been able to carve a great name for herself, which is why she is here in country B because she got his sweet job offer a contract for three years in one of the most prestigious hospitals. Her parents believed it was a good idea and chance so they let her take it up.She came specifically to check if she could get hold of book that has tips to recall dreams or something useful.After hours and hours of searching she found nothing and decided to use the rest of the day off for something more relaxing and entertaining.she could still feel eyes on her but decided to ignore it. sometime she wonders if she is that alien.she decided to get herself a big bowl of ice cream, after making that quick stop she headed to her apartment which she had been staying in for three months.Kind courtesy of the hospital she works for.Immediately she dropped her bag and opened her ice cream...ring..ring...urgh not now, she thought "Good afternoon miss. Samantha, please forgive me for the disturbance but the chief wants to meet you urgently."the nurse on the line said urgently. Samantha tried to explain that today is her day off but was Immediately cut off by the nurse" yes I'm very much aware about this but it looks like you are the only one that can handle this case that is why the chief urgently wants to see you". She pleaded. Sam was left with no other choice than to put her creamy ice cream away and get dressed for work. She locked her apartment and descended the stairs hailed a cub which left her right at the hospital entrance.she made her way to her office first greeting and smiling at as many people as look receptive. She dropped her bag, prayed for guidance and headed to the director's office .knock.... knock.
"Come in miss Samantha" He said.
"Good day sir I just reported , I was told to come here directly" I greated him.
" I have a favour to ask of you, please help me cause I have tried my best to salvage this situation, so I am left with no other choice than to ask for your assistance. You are one of the best doctors we have ever come across and I am very sure you can...."
"Mr. Lao please get straight to the point and let me know how I can be of help to you"
" Really, you are going to help me ? Ow than .." I cut him off before he gets too excited. " I can only help if it is within my capacity sir" I clearly state.
" Oh.... This is the issue, the largest shareholder of our hospital over three years has been having this severe condition of insomnia and other conditions that are not clearly indicated, our best doctors have tried everything possible to cure him but it has been to nut.But you are different just as this patients condition is, you have had many successful cases which has been extraordinary, I know this is not in your job description but please can you take this up for the company I will multiply you pay for what you may suffer whilst taking this job. So please consider."
"First of all Mr Lao, I'm not as extraordinary as you say , and I don't need a pay raise, if I can be of assistance to this hospital I'll gladly do so" she calmly declared.
"So does that mean you will do this?" He asked again to confirm and in utter disbelieve." Yes sir" He suddenly jumped up in joy, shook her and suddenly hugged her " Thank you .... Thank you very much. You do not know how much you have helped me". Only God knows how he wanted to get mr wen's problem out of his way and stay far from that monster as much as possible.
" If there is nothing else sir I will get back to work"
" Oh I heard today is your day off,you can get back home and rest, for tomorrow is going to be a very busy day". I just bowed slightly with a big smile on my face as I walk gracefully to get my back and return to my Ice cream in the freezer. My day was not ruined after all.
