Chapter 97 - Chapter 98: Saint Kata Monastery

"At least I can teach her some methods to protect herself. Luolin, you know that people with the Psychic Constitution are naturally like magnets."

York said this while tapping his phone screen to stop it from vibrating.

"This is an inescapable fact. There is an old Eastern saying: 'You can run for a moment, but you cannot run forever.' Given Janet's talent, she will inevitably run into trouble."

Hearing this, Luolin fell silent, saying nothing further. Just as the priest said, looking back on her own life, as someone possessing the Psychic Constitution and Yin-Yang Eyes, even when she tried to escape, she always encountered dirty things: on the road, while traveling, at the TV station, in the car, and so on.

This is the fate of the Psychic Constitution; one can only learn to accept it.

"I understand, Father."

"Mhm."

Seeing Luolin fall silent again, York paid it no mind. He simply opened his phone screen, thinking about other things.

This exorcism felt somewhat incomplete. He still had a loose end he hadn't sorted out, a veil he hadn't yet pierced.

The scent on the nun and the words spoken by the Hunchback confirmed for him that this was a demon residing in Hell.

But why did this fellow always target hosts who possessed the Psychic Constitution?

Putting himself in the demon's shoes, the demon's ultimate goal must be singular: to allow its true form to emerge and descend upon the human world.

Yet, precisely because of this point, he couldn't figure it out. One must know that possessing a person with the Psychic Constitution and then completing the erosion phase to achieve perfect control is far more difficult than doing so with an ordinary person.

So, possessing an ordinary person and completing the erosion phase could also allow the true form to descend upon the human world... "Sigh, I can't figure it out. I won't think about it anymore."

York glanced at the ominous aura on Luolin's body, which was gradually fading until it was almost gone, and decided to drop the matter entirely.

However, apart from this issue, his biggest regret during the entire exorcism process was not using the Holy Bomb at his feet, missing the chance to witness the imagined burst of light.

Of course, despite the confusion and regret, this exorcism was not without its rewards.

There was the reward of 8 attribute points from the mission, and even a result derived from experimentation.

Namely, he had estimated the approximate effect of enchanting.

Based on the explosions of the two enchanted grenades and his past enchanting experience, York had vaguely grasped the multiplier involved.

Recalling the explosion caused earlier at the Jesse Building and combining it with the data he had looked up, York narrowed his eyes as snippets of information formed in his mind.

"The explosion caused by the grenade itself had an equivalent of about 250 grams of TNT, while the equivalent value at the Jesse Building that day should have been around 30 kilograms of TNT..."

Extending his thoughts further, York recalled the 160-point enchanted grenade that had exploded in the Spirit space.

"The equivalent value was about 40 kilograms..."

"Therefore, the number of enchantment points equals the multiplier of the item's inherent kinetic energy and power."

Thinking this, York subconsciously looked down at the backpack at his feet.

This Holy C4 itself had an equivalent value of 24 kilograms. Enchanting it with 160 points meant an enchantment that magnified the power 160 times.

If this Holy C4 bomb were to explode now, it would have an equivalent value of roughly 3,840 kilograms, or 3.84 tons of TNT.

"An explosive power of approximately 3.84 tons equivalent. This Holy C4 bomb cannot be used carelessly..."

After comparing the experiments with the two enchanted grenades and estimating the magnification multiplier of the enchantment, York shook his head, withdrew his gaze, and looked back at his phone.

Unexpectedly, the source of the phone's vibration this time was an encrypted email sent by Old Mike.

"Father Mike found something? This timing is quite coincidental."

York's heart stirred. He quickly operated his phone to enter the reading software, then typed the password known only to the two of them into the pop-up box.

Subsequently, the email unfolded before York's eyes, accompanied by the mechanical sound announcing the triggering of a random mission.

[Random Mission Triggered]

[Resolve the Sealed Land]

[Mission Completion Reward: +40 Attribute Points]

[Accept Mission?]

[...]

"Holy moly, a 40-point mission reward. A big job has arrived..."

Looking at the virtual window that automatically appeared before him, York did not immediately accept. Instead, he started reading through the email sent by Old Mike.

Combined with the mission name,'Sealed Land,' he felt that the subsequent details in this email would resolve his previous confusion.

The email on the screen scrolled as York slid his finger—one second, two seconds, three seconds—time gradually passed.

When he scrolled to the middle and saw something, York stopped reading. He finally understood the situation concerning Falanci Renqi, the Frenchman.

According to the email sent by Old Mike, the Frenchman Luolin had contact with, Falanci Renqi, worked before coming to America delivering supplies regularly to a monastery in Romania.

"Romania's Saint Kata Monastery..." York stared at the phone screen, silently reciting the name of the monastery in his heart.

In this parallel world, monasteries are considered educational institutions established by the Church for Novice Clergy, such as Novice Nuns and Monks who have not yet been assigned. They can be seen as a somewhat alternative type of school.

Thus, they also go by another name: Theological Seminary.

Inside the monastery, specialized teachers give lessons to these novice Clergy, imparting knowledge such as Theology, Bible Studies, and the relevant regulations of the Church to these Novice Clergy.

Just like Archibald, the Novice Priest mentioned earlier. Of course, Novice Priests are slightly different, but before they graduate, they must first study in a monastery-like setting and pass various exams before being deployed.

Recalling the nun image of the demon, York already listed this particular monastery as his primary suspect.

If he wasn't mistaken, this monastery was very likely the place where Falanci Renqi, the Frenchman, came into contact with the "nun."

Scrolling through the email until the end, York didn't find any further valuable information, but he knew this was precisely Old Mike's way of giving him a choice: call if he wanted to know more, and don't call if he didn't.

Closing the email, he silently put away his phone and glanced at the virtual window before him. York temporarily held off on accepting the mission and began processing the rewards he had received.

Looking at the 8 unused attribute points, York bypassed Health for the first time, splitting the 8 points in half and adding them respectively to Spirit, which could undergo Holy Imbuement, and Magic Power, which could undergo Holy Imbuement.

As supernatural events occurred time and time again, he began to feel somewhat inadequate—not exactly inadequate, but rather that his Spirit and Magic Power were insufficient, especially since over a million dollars worth of military supplies had yet to arrive.

Besides this batch of raw military supplies that hadn't arrived, he also needed to apply Holy Imbuement, adding the Holy Attribute to all the enchanted ammunition and other items stored in his underground warehouse. This was a massive undertaking, which is why he chose this time to allocate the 8 attribute points to Spirit and Magic Power.
