Chapter 69 - Chapter 70: Simple and Brutal

"Damn it! You never said what the plan was!" Hailey cursed internally. She already regretted bringing this up to the Priest that day. Not only was she betrayed, but now she was dragged into this mess, and she even felt like filing a complaint.

Just as she was about to say something, the result of ringing the doorbell appeared.

The door did not open; instead, a magnetic voice sounded from within.

"Who are you?"

York habitually narrowed his eyes. The voice was indeed pleasant; based on his experience, it was the kind of voice that Voice-con Women loved, capable of giving them a cranial climax and making them imagine a warm, handsome man.

With such a magnetic voice, if he was also good-looking and had the identity of a Photographer, it really wouldn't be hard for this perverse man-eating demons to lure in some innocent young girls.

The person inside seemed to sense that something was wrong, and the voice continued.

"I don't know you. If you have nothing to report, please leave."

"..."

York narrowed his eyes. Was this not proof that the perverse man-eating demons was indeed a bully who preyed on the weak and feared the strong? His vigilance was entirely innate.

"This is private property. Please leave, or I will call the police!"

"..."

Hailey's expression turned ugly. She nudged the Priest beside her reproachfully; everything was exposed now, and her plan for tomorrow was likely ruined.

But before she could touch him, York, having confirmed the owner was home, had already raised his foot and fiercely kicked the door.

This sudden action left Hailey frozen in place, her outstretched hand suspended in mid-air. Her eyes were wide as saucers as she stared blankly at the seemingly solid door, which, like a toy, was lightly and forcefully kicked off its hinges by the Priest, flying inward to smash against the Entrance Hall wall.

With a loud boom, the door shattered. Hailey's heart trembled. She suddenly began to understand the meaning of the Priest's previous words: simple, swift, ruthless, and accurate. Her mind, which had been confused, instantly cleared up.

"Oh! Shit..."

Hailey was completely stiff. At this moment, she felt a thrilling sensation rush over her, her whole body tingling as if numb.

"Hailey, you're still young. It's best not to use foul language."

Hearing the startled cries from inside, York smiled indifferently and strode straight into the house.

Hailey snapped back to reality and quickly followed, a flicker of excitement in her eyes.

As soon as the two entered, the layout of the house was fully revealed.

The sofa, the kitchen, and some furniture—their colors generally blended with the wall palette, complementing each other, elegant and beautiful. The walls were covered with photographs, presenting the unique décor of a Photographer.

Simply put, this was the kind of decoration only wealthy people could afford. Wealth, plus a pleasant voice, and if he was also handsome, that was several layers of buffs. No wonder his reputation outside was so good.

"Look, that guy is trying to run."

York saw the figure running into a room deep inside. He strode over carelessly, grabbing a water bottle from the hallway before reaching the room.

Hailey, tingling all over, immediately followed like a shadow. She was like a child who had found an adult to stand up for her, even muttering under her breath.

"Reverend Priest! Beat him up! You must give him a good, hard beating! He needs to be taught how to behave!"

"If possible, I will, Hailey."

York replied calmly and strode to the room door, kicking it straight open again. The door was simply too fragile for him, who now possessed a 34-point all-around constitution.

Another loud boom!

York didn't even feel resistance; the door in front of him shattered instantly.

As the door broke, he finally saw what the perverse man-eating demons looked like.

He had flowing blonde hair, a pair of melancholy eyes, and distinct facial features. Although he looked somewhat like Ed Warren, when put together, it didn't change the fact that the man before him was handsome—several layers of buffs were complete.

He was holding a cell phone, his face blank. The phone's speaker was still playing:

"Hello, this is the *** Police Department. Do you require assistance?"

"No, sorry, I dialed the wrong number."

York smiled and quickly answered, then looked at the perverse man-eating demons, who was starting to react and wanted to object. He raised the vase in his hand, controlled the force, and smashed it over fiercely.

Bang!!!

The vase hit the man-eating demons, shattering instantly, sending fragments flying everywhere. The man-eating demons was thrown backward by the impact, crashing into the furniture cabinet behind him with a clatter, and immediately passed out.

"Ooh ooh ooh!!!" Hailey cried out excitedly from behind, her face beaming with thrill.

"Well done! Reverend Priest!"

York glanced back at her. In this state, she finally looked like a child should.

"Hello?? Hello??" The receptionist's voice was still audible from the phone lying on the floor.

"May I ask what happened? Are you alright?"

Withdrawing his gaze, York stepped on the vase shards on the floor, casually crushing the still-calling phone underfoot. Then, he bent down and grabbed the unconscious man-eating demons' feet, dragging him out as if holding a mop handle.

"Come on, kid. It's time for us to look for evidence. Bring out your cleverness and think about where he might hide the evidence..."

"Oh yeah! Mission accomplished guaranteed!"

"..."

Suddenly, Hailey's energetic figure was everywhere in the house.

York sat on the sofa, glanced at the perverse man-eating demons passed out on the living room floor, and shook his head.

The closer he looked, the more he felt this guy really resembled Ed Warren; the facial contours and eyes were exactly the same.

Recalling that he might have to interact with The Warrens later, York simply got up and walked toward a pile of Ornamental Stones in the center of the living room.

"I shouldn't dwell on it, or it will be awkward when we meet later..."

At this moment, Hailey walked over, frowning, holding a stack of letters.

Seeing Hailey's tightly furrowed brows, York already knew the outcome.

"You didn't find anything?"

Hearing this, Hailey shook her head and looked at the man-eating demons still passed out on the floor.

"Priest, how about we wake him up and interrogate him harshly? I looked it up online and learned many ways to torture people."

Hearing this, York couldn't help but recall the methods described in the Little Notebook.

"Hailey, do you think a perverse man-eating demons who is so good at packaging himself would tell you the truth? You have to understand that for someone like him, confessing is also a dead end."

Hailey threw up her hands. "Then what do you suggest we do?"

Hearing this, York looked toward the pile of Ornamental Stones ahead.

"Did you check here?"

"No."

Hailey answered, then paused, looking at the Ornamental Stones placed in the center of the living room. As she looked, she suddenly felt that the arrangement here seemed somewhat conflicting with the overall layout of the living room.
