Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Envelope

"Ding!"

York glanced back at the clothing store, opened the car door, and sat in the driver's seat. Then, he casually took out his phone from his pocket.

He initially thought it was the payment for the goods, but the information displayed was something else.

Looking at the amount, York smiled silently. His two million had arrived. Those two rich women were indeed wealthy and kept their word. Perhaps this is what it means to be rich.

Just then, before York could finish his emotion, his phone dinged again, and the same message popped up on the screen.

This time, it was the payment for the goods, a total of 1.73 million US dollars had arrived.

York quietly put away his phone. At this moment, he instantly crossed a class boundary, becoming a millionaire.

Two million plus this 1.73 million, and the remaining 170,000 in his account, brought his total to 3.9 million. There were so many places this money could be used.

"The world is truly a dream. I've become rich just like that. Thank you, Lord..."

York silently prayed, shifted gears, gently pressed the accelerator, and slowly drove away from the spot.

But before he left the intersection, he saw Ward Martin suddenly appear on the street in his rearview mirror, watching him leave.

"The Grizzly Gang, huh...?"

Recalling Ward Martin's warning, York showed a hint of disdain in his eyes as he drove out of Ward Martin's line of sight.

Although The Grizzly Gang took its name from another country, its influence was still very strong. It was one of the largest global gang organizations, rising in the late 1980s during a period of turmoil.

Their businesses included assassination, robbery, smuggling, drug trafficking, protection rackets, human trafficking, and more. They did whatever made money, with a long history of evil deeds and extreme cruelty. Most people wouldn't dare provoke them.

Despite this, The Grizzly Gang was now on the verge of collapse. Of all people to provoke, they provoked John, the God of Killing.

As York recalled information about The Grizzly Gang, the disdain in his eyes grew even stronger, accompanied by a hint of deep-seated recollection.

The moment John Wick's name appeared, he immediately recalled the series of movies he had seen in his past life's memories—a bloodbath triggered by a dog.

John was the protagonist in it. After he came out of retirement, in summary, it was: give me back my dog's life, I'll take your dog's life, spare my dog's life, and kill, kill, kill from beginning to end. Yes, John was a Killer, a top Killer.

Speaking of which, his acquaintance with John, the God of Killing, was entirely coincidental, owing to his gentle and kind wife. It was a pity his wife still passed away from a terminal illness... York put away his memories, muttered to himself as he pressed the accelerator, and drove out of the city center, speeding towards the church.

"John, I hope there will be a day when we can meet again..."

...Returning to the church, which exuded a sense of peaceful tranquility, York once again became a true priest.

In the main hall's altar, illuminated only by candlelight, he wore his priestly robes, held a Bible, and closed his eyes to offer a prayer before the Jesus Statue.

Like recounting a diary, York truthfully reported what he had done yesterday and today.

He had cast out Bathsheba, the evil spirit, and saved The Roger Family.

He had eliminated the Serial killer and saved Jessie and Carly.

He also spoke of losing his virginity and selling the goods.

As York silently recited this, the notification for the completion of a fixed task sounded in his ear.

[Daily Fixed Task]

[Prayer: Church Prayer (Completed)]

[Reward: Points +0.5 awarded]

York opened his eyes, looked intently at the Jesus Statue, and made the sign of the cross.

"Amen."

Although it felt like reporting to someone, York remained calm and continued to add the 0.5 points he received to his Life Value.

[Points added successfully]

[Life Value has risen to 109]

[...]

After completing the daily fixed task, York proceeded to his second task: writing a report to inform the Church Headquarters about casting out Bathsheba.

Just like with the previous exorcism permit, priests in the Church generally require approval from the local bishop or a higher-ranking cleric to perform a formal exorcism ritual.

This is because exorcism is a very serious matter involving mysterious powers, and it is necessary to ensure that the person performing the ritual has sufficient mental, moral, and spiritual capacity, as well as adequate understanding and knowledge of the exorcism's purpose and procedures.

Of course, in emergencies, a priest may decide whether or not to perform an exorcism based on the situation.

York pondered as he used a fountain pen to write about Bathsheba on the letter before him.

[Bathsheba]

[A descendant of Mary Eastey, who was unjustly killed in the Salem Witch Trials]

[Turned from love to hatred, abandoned God, and converted to Satan]

[...]

In a short while, York had written down all the information about Bathsheba, the evil spirit.

He was already very familiar with the procedure. The only difference from ordinary priests was that he made his own decisions regarding exorcisms. His process was to perform the exorcism first, and then transmit all the details to the Church Headquarters for filing and registration.

This filing and registration was also very important. Many demonic legends, as well as certain demonic symbols and true names in the Church, came from this gradual accumulation... After writing, York placed the letter into an envelope nearby, then used a wax seal with his own emblem to seal the envelope's opening.

With the wax seal applied, the report writing was complete. All that remained was to send it off via homing pigeon.

York was initially puzzled by this. In this modern world, the express delivery industry was very mature, and its loss rate and stability were at least much lower than homing pigeons. After all, homing pigeons could be accidentally injured or killed, or get lost due to changes in air pressure or severe weather conditions.

But then he considered that this parallel world also had demons, Vampires, and other supernatural phenomena. Perhaps the Church had other considerations.

York, with a calm expression, walked out of the church towards a small house behind it, whistling as he went.

With a 'bi' sound, a homing pigeon flew out of the small house and, with great intelligence, landed on York' outstretched hand.

"Richie, I'll trouble you to deliver this to Headquarters."

Looking at the intelligent homing pigeon, York' eyes softened. This pigeon had been with him for many years, and Richie was the name he had given it.

Richie, the homing pigeon, seemed to understand, its eyes darting around, and it flapped its wings.

"Don't be greedy on the way."

York smiled, stroked the pigeon's head, and seeing its comfortable demeanor, he rolled up the letter and placed it into a small cylinder near its claw. Then, he held its wings with both hands, adopting a posture to send it off.

"Go, Richie!!! Come back soon!" York sent it off.

Richie, the homing pigeon, cooed, then flapped its wings and flew forward, soaring higher and further under York' gaze.

Watching the homing pigeon disappear into the clouds, York clapped his hands and returned to the main building.

However, just as he was about to enter the main building, there was a sound from the main door outside. An old man with white hair and a weary face walked in. He managed a smile.

"Father, you're back?"
