Chapter 3 - Cradled

Three Months before the End of Year. I was finally able to crawl freely inside the mansion.

As for my exclusive Nanny. Well, she's keeping her distance well.

Crawled as I can. My body couldn't handle it. Everyday from then on, I slowly built my stamina.

I had set some goals like passing each distance I once stopped.

In the entire mansion, I was curious. Seeing maids running around, chefs delivering food.

Everything looked so extravagant.

However. I can't hide the feeling. The feeling of unbelonging.

Its strange... yet. I just simply need to adapt.

One day. My Mother carried me to an empty lobby. From there I saw, Julian Mitternacht. My Father.

My Mother greeted him as we arrived. Then sat on the long sofa as if we were expecting a guest to arrive.

Who's the guest? I thought.

With both the Patriarch and Matriarch present. The guest should be atleast a higher ranking noble.

Because. My parents of this world are of the few leading Counts of the Eastern Continent.

Before long, someone unexpected arrived.

Wearing a hooded cloak, that person lowered their head with courtesy. Guided by the servants. My Father offered to give that person a seat.

That person politely complied.

Now, with both parties sat down. The maids prepared a light dessert. Expected for both guest and landlord.

Soon as the servants left. The hooded person removed what was covering their face.

Removing the hood. My eyes dazzled.

My expression was of 'What the fuck is this? Isn't this basically cheating!'

For the person who came to visit my parents was none other than a beautiful elven maiden.

I originally thought that elves had high self esteem judging from the books I've read in the past.

However, maybe in this world. They're slightly different?

At that moment, both parties discussed something. And that something is as important as a.... GODDAMN WAR?!

WHAT?! ISN'T THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A PEACEFUL WORLD?!

Calm down me. I almost burped at the thought of that.

I mean. Maybe, they're just here to greet my parents.

However. As the conversation progresses. I was proven wrong yet again.

The elven maiden continued to relay her message.

"The situation of the Alliance is dire. For that reason, in all Nations. We'd like to ask for a reinforcement alongside with someone to hold their symbolic presence.

My Father had never broken his serious expression.

"So, for short. You're asking for troops and possibly one of my heirs to march on that battlefield, I presume?"

I looked at my Mother. Deep in her worries. Her embrace tightened, expressing her sorrow and fright.

That was when my Father glanced at me. His demeanor softened as he smiled, his hand caressing the top of my head.

"There, there. Everything's gonna be alright."

Maybe it was because he sensed it. My fear.

In the next moments. I fell asleep and woke up back inside my cradle.

A war. That thought kept bugging me.

Is it normal to not fear war? Of course not. However, it's my first time being in one.

Maybe because the world of my previous life was too drunk in peace and political schemes.

Well, having the brain of a baby, I feel like my head is about to explode from thinking.

Guess I'll just sleep again. The night is still long.
