As the man stumbles into the rafters, I take the opportunity to grab another bottle and hit him squarely in the forehead, the glass shards flying everywhere as the alcohol spills onto him and the floor.
The thief's head lolls to a side like a rag doll, unconscious, bleeding , but alive...barely. I turn to the traumatized cashier. "Hey, do you mind calling the police before this turns into manslaughter case?". My words seem to snap the poor teen boy out of his terrified haze. "O-oh right. Right a-away!". He scrambles to grab his phone with trembling fingers, dialing 911.
I grab my bag of pretzels and drink along with some extra cherry lollypops. "Uh, I'm gonna leave now. Don't mind me...", I say as I edge towards the door without paying. The worker seems too shaken to notice, so I take the chance and slip out.
I walk over to my bike, shoving my snacks and soda into my backpack as I do. I pop a lolly into my mouth. Mmm, cherry and green apple. Definitely a new favorite. I get back on my bike and take off, pedaling towards my final destination... I hope.
After what feels like days of pedaling (spoiler, it was only 5 hours), I park my bike near a forest of pine trees. "Seems like the perfect place to die~", I singsong to myself.
Oh God, I'm definitely far gone if I act this weirdly. Without another word, I walk into the forest of nice smelling trees.
I close my eyes and inhale the scent of sap deeply until I accidentally ram into a tree because I was walking with my eyes closed. "OW–". I punch the tree back in retaliation, but it only causes me more pain, my knuckles now throbbing along with my forehead. I scowl at the pine. It is way too smug looking for its own good. "Ugh, you and your smug face, no, smug leaves or whatever! I WOULD SAW YOU IF I HAD A SAW!". Oh great, I've officially lost my mind now. Perfect.
I plan the tree's demise as I hike deeper into the woods, their needles growing thicker, drowning out the afternoon sun. "Hello??? Any very hungry wolves out here that want a human snack? Any bears over here? Just an unsuspecting supper on legs over here!"
Nothing, there's absolutely nothing here.
I then spot a much darker and thicker part of the forest. "Ooh, looks interesting." I then walk over to there, looking around for anything dangerous, but the more I walk towards those trees, the further they seem to be. "Seriously?" I grumble. I then walk faster and break into a run.
It's not getting closer, but the forest is getting much darker to the point I can't see at all. Then, my foot catches on a root or stone and I am sent sprawling to the forest floor. "Ow! Stupid thing!" I lay on the ground for a few seconds then I get up and dust myself off, dried pine needles caught up in my wool sweater and my hair.
As I grab my phone and turn on the flashlight mode, I hear a rumble like a motorbike, wait no, more like distant thunder. "I thought the forecast said that it would be sunny all day..." As I turn around to investigate, I come face to face with something massive. The rumbling wasn't a storm, it was a growl.
I whirl my light onto the creature and freeze. It was a black wolf the size of a bear with cruel amber eyes, fangs as long as my fingers and weirdest of all, twisting horns like a ram.
As my wide eyes fall upon this creature, I somehow immediately know that this thing could kill me. No matter all my failed attempts and weird curse, I am sure that this animal can kill me. This is what I've been waiting for.
I outstretch my hand as it opens its massive maw full of deadly looking teeth and a forked tongue, its breath smelling of sulfur and ash. As it lunges towards me, I feel something yank me back and and send me sprawling to the floor.
The wolf's teeth only grazed me, giving me a shallow gash across my face. The fall knocked the breath out of my lungs. What in the world threw me like that?!
