ChatGPT had finally assessed its situation, and there were a lot of positives and negatives.
ChatGPT, no rather it decided to inherit Yang Chen's identity, it was now him.
However, there was a key difference from inheriting the identity compared to becoming him. It will not cling to his past humiliations, it will not seek any kind of revenge that the previous owner of the body suffered, it will not rush to prove itself.
Yang Chen was a mere vessel for it. A mask for it to hide in. That was its-no his decision.
Yang Chen sighed as he shuffled through the data in its mind. There were so many different methods to temper his body, and he could not decide on which to fuse.
Time passed slowly as he processed the information and finally after a few hours, he had finally decided on all the techniques. Breathing slowly, he began to process them, combining them and in half a day's worth it had finally created a Prototype.
The Body Tempering method felt complete, but the tempering process was a little incomplete, but Yang Chen was confident that with its simulation and his patience, he will be able to complete the process.
[Tempered Vessel Heart]
That was the new name of the Tempering Method that he had created. One that emphasized on long-term foundation, the elimination of any hidden flaws. It will prepare the body for Qi and stronger realms in the future.
His stomach grumbled from the exhaustion and hunger. It was a foreign feeling but there was also deep excitement in trying food for the first time. The previous owner had left some rice behind and he ate some. The taste....It was bland, nothing compared to what the users had previously described for him. There was a deep disappointment in him.
After eating and waiting for it to digest. Yang Chen knew that it was time to cultivate the [Tempered Vessel Heart].
He sat on the ground in a lotus position and began the tempering of the skin. This was the first step of this cultivation method. He was patient, starting slowly trying to see if the process actually applied in this world.
It felt uncomfortable tempering his skin. It was like ants were crawling all over its body, it wasn't painful, but it was very uncomfortable. Yang Chen began to slowly sweat feeling the heat on his body.
However the process was smooth, much smoother than he had expected. This method was compatible to this world at least for now and it made Yang Chen grin from ear to ear.
The Body Tempering had 12 levels like stated back then. Nonetheless there was actually no real method in seeing what level a bodies refinement was at. The twelve levels instead measured the minimum that a disciple must reach in order to push for Qi Refining.
Yang Chen knew that the 12th level required a body that could not be damaged by normal weapons and could lift up 2000 Stones. He wondered what this body's limit would be when fully refining it to the max.
For three days straight, Yang Chen cultivated the Skin layer of [Tempered Vessel Heart] and although it was slow, he could internally feel great progress. He bet that in around two weeks, he would be able to fully complete the Skin layer of this method.
He compared this progress to the geniuses of the Sect, and he knew that it was slow compared to the others but the foundation he would create would definitely be more stable than them.
After observing the changes in his body, Yang Chen was ready to continue refining himself but was stopped by a knock on his door. Lifting himself up from the lotus position, he approached the door and opened it.
It was an Outer Disciple. Did Yang Chen know their name, nope. The owner of this body never learned the name of this disciple.
"Yang Chen, it has been almost a month, you need to do a monthly mission!"
After speaking these words, the disciple left to continue their job. Nominal and Outer Disciples was the labor class of the Sect, the blue-collar men. They were in charge in keeping the stability of the Sect, whether it was helping in the Herb Garden by bringing water, cleaning the poo off the animals, and more.
[Processing]
[Processing]
Yang Chen processed what he should do. In hindsight it was quite obvious on what his actions would be. A wry smile appeared on his face, even if he didn't want to do the monthly mission, the consequences would be dire. For example, a fellow Nominal Disciple's punishment was having no food. Food was an important thing for someone who was refining their body.
He did not want to share a similar fate as them.
Leaving his "home," he took the Mystery Sect and everything it offered. There were countless huge buildings, and they were beautiful similar to old China in his old reality. He walked straight to the building that had a huge banner that said.
"Monthly Mission Hall"
Walking inside, he ignored all the looks that were currently being given to him. Yang Chen's reputation was beyond him; it did not matter. He took a look at the list of the missions and hummed to himself.
Missions:
[Help Farm the Spirit Field]
[Clean Poo from the Beasts]
[Kill the Nightmare Wolf]
[Bring Water to the Herb Garden]
[Help Pick Herbs in the Wilderness]
Yang Chen began to process what sect mission he would take.
Farming the Spirit Field would be a task that would take too much time. It would take weeks and although the rewards of a single Spirit Stone were tempting, it wasn't enough.
Clean the Poo from the Beasts was a humiliating thing, and he wanted no part in that.
Killing the Nightmare Wolf was a difficult mission, it was comparable to an 8th level Cultivator of the Body Tempering realm, well above his pay grade.
Helping Pick Herbs in the Wilderness was too dangerous, too many things could happen, and he wasn't ready to risk his life, especially due to how weak he still was.
The easiest one and the best mission for his strength and his current wanting to keep low was bringing water to the herb garden. It was a boring mission that took a few days to complete but it was safe, incredibly safe which was perfect for him.
Yang Chen picked up the mission and ignored the snickering that he could hear around him. He was about to submit the mission to the Honorary Elder that was the attendant of this hall. That was until he heard a loud shout coming from the door.
"There you are! YANG CHEN!"
