Chapter 9 - [Trial 1.5] World Devouring God

There are two epoch in Astra Nova - The current epoch, The Epoch of Overlap and the bygone Epoch, The Epoch of Mythology.

In current era all information on dragons are just fairytales. Infact, most information from previous epoch are obtained through fairytales.

Dragons allegedly went extinct in previous epoch. Well it turns out to be false, because one is right in front of them.

[You are in presence of [The world Devouring Dragon] please be mindful!]

StarStrek reminded sky of what he is dealing with. Not that he needed to be reminded, he was perfectly sane and his actions will be sane.

He looked up at the sky and shouted aloud,

"Hey! Grandma wake up from your retirement sleep!"

..And immediately defaced the god.

Suddenly an immense pressure dropped on both aeon's and sky's body.

Aeon fell on his knees, while sky stubbornly pushed through the pressure,

[Inherent trait - [Swordsman's Dillema (70%)X Sage's Dillema (30%)] Goes Overclock!]

His body started to internally crack, while his brain fried from the massive input of information.

Pushing through the pain, Sky continued louder,

"IS THAT HOW YOU GREET CHILDREN VISITING YOU! THIS IS WHY NO ONE VISITS YOU!"

The pressure kept intensifying, but sky swear he saw the pupil tremble slightly,

[And why should I fulfill your request? I am no longer bound to StarStrek's Will.]

A calm divine voice rang in the dead world, it was similar to StarStrek's omnipresent and omnipotent voice but closer and less overwhelming comparatively.

"Finally acknowledging my existence? Should have spoken first before all these useless theatheric." He scoffed.

She had blatantly ignored them when they arrived here, that alone showed her reluctance to fullfill his request.

Sky continued,

"First of all! I am not unilateral requesting anything, I am offering you a deal - A favor for a favor. You fulfill my request and I will honour your's."

He offered a fair deal, but it looks like she took it unkindly as a huge pressure slammed into him, heavy as the weight of ocean.

[Inherent trait - [Swordsman's Dillema (70%)X Sage's Dillema (30%)] Goes extremely overclock! Please take cautious!]

Sky could smell flesh burning, his thinking slowly going haywire.

The world beneath him suddenly vanished and gave way to endless darkness. The drakness was the boundary of death, falling means permanent death.

Aeon panicked instinctively, trying to hold something. Sadly there was nothing to hold on to, as both fell downwards, towards death's maws.

Even while falling down to certain death, sky kept his unsettling smile on while looking directly at the 'eye' above.

"WHAT?! ARE YOU SCARED TO ANSWER ME?!" he taunted.

[Why shall I care of a mortal that speak louder than his station? I could erase you i-]

"I have met many beings stronger than you, O fallen Crowned Aeon. And I have gave a hell load of pain to them. You don't scare me! So please save me your hollow threats. If you wanted to, you would have done so by now!"

Sky cut the voice, scoffing at it.

"Go on! Verify my words! You are wise and 'great' enough decern truth from lie, are you not?"

She looked at sky dubiously, judgment pointed at him.

She found no lie, yet she questioned his words. After few moments of silence, she spoke-

[What can you give me with your feeble strength?]

Sky smiled brightly, caught you!

"A chance to dethrone Order!" He announced.

Though the world stayed the same, he could feel the temperature rising.

Good, be more angry.

He remembers how she had a beef with one of the heavenly principles. While he doesn't have the full context, he does know that she always gets involved if it means the downfall of Order.

The calm divine voice became slightly sharper,

[How so?]

"The Heavenly principles have ensnared and have spread their accursed roots to great deal of things, but every root comes from a source, with their ensnarement came a path to them."

Sky put his hand on his chest,

Here comes the finisher.

"By the Star's Oath, I, Sky Theobane, will give The World Devouring Dragon, Akidnis an opportunity to dethrone The Heavenly Principle of Order." Sky made an Star Oath.

"Do you take up the challenge?" He prompted Akidnis.

[Very well.]

[By the Moon's Grace, 'I' Will grant you your request.] She accepted.

Sky felt a certain tightness around his heart, the oath as been sealed, Intertwined with his Ascension.

Failure to keep the oath means he loses the very foundation of his Ascension.

Unless he willingly descends himself and find another Crowned Aeon to Ascend back, he is stuck with this oath.

Not that he is backing down. Everything is going into his favor, why would he back down.

[Now, go away from my sight. Disturb my sleep only when then oportunity arises.]

She ordered in an detached tone.

Sky and aeon were banished from the still lands, returning back to the academy ground.

[Another set of idiots]

She sighed alone in the still lands.

"Teacher! Teacher! See this!" A girl jumped in joy, her white hair bobing up and down.

Around her hands was a golden chain of order, touching upon the very concept of order.

The omniscient and omnipotent presence- Akidnis spoke in an unamused tone,

[Passable]

The girl's face downcasted, she stuck out her tounge to annoy her teacher,

"What a bore you are teacher!"

[You will understand when you reach my age.] Akidnis spoke calmly, not minding the girl's antics.

"Booo~, spoken like a true old hag. Go retire already!"

[Sigh...]

Even gods can be annoyed.

.

.

.

In an burning realm, the white haired girl faced an wonded chained dragon.

[Slay [World Devouring Dragon] To conclude the Trial.]

The girl did not move.

[Do not deface me longer, end this facade...let me die with the dignity of a star.] The dragon growled in anger.

The girl manifested an crimson blade.... and struck the chains that binded the dragon.

[Stop! Don't!]

"No you stop!" She cried out, continuously striking the chains, even when she faced backlash.

"You want me to kill my own teacher? Die with the dignity of stars? Hell with it all!" The chains didn't budge, her efforts proving naught.

She struck and struck and struck.

"If the trial doesn't show me the end..." She struck, cracks started to form. But so did on her own body.

"Even if the other gods stay silent..." The cracks widened. She struck.

"...I will crave my own way towards the end! Even if it means defying the Eternal Star's grand design."

Shatter! The chains broke.

"I am my own eternal star. I am myself. I am no puppet. And you are too no puppet." She declared, While her body bled golden blood, loosing something important.

She gave a sweet but sad smile.

"You are free, teacher."
