Chapter 2 - Immortal Monster

The atmosphere was quite tense at the time. The discussion about the immortal monster never ended.

Damian, who was starting to get bored with the story, asked for permission to leave.

He walked out, not knowing where he was going, daydreaming with a troubled and confused look on his face.

'Is this the reason you sent this letter to us? You bloody brat!' Ian stared at a letter he pulled out of his pocket. Tears constantly streamed down his cheeks.

'You should have told us if something very dangerous was going to happen to you.'

'We should have... We could have saved you then.'

'We should have... We could still be playing and joking around right now.'

[Just as usual—you're such a crybaby, aren't you?]

Damian instantly turned his head after hearing the voice.

What he saw was a woman standing right behind him.

"Y-you?!" Damian stumbled backward.

[Are you that surprised? Is it because I haven't been out for so long that you've forgotten about me?]

The woman floated around Damian.

"I thought this person was dead," Damian said, muttering to himself.

[Did you say something just now?]

"No."

[...]

"....."

"Hey! Can you grant my request?" The woman turned toward Damian with a puzzled look on her face.

"Please, take my place here for a while!"

A strong wind blew, picking up the leaves that had been swept by one of the servants there.

[I don't understand your words at all.]

[However, if it puts you in danger—I don't want to do it.]

Without warning, the woman started to disappear.

Her transparent body began to fade from view.

"Wait!!"

Damian tried to grab her hand, but couldn't.

'What an odd woman. Seriously—what was her goal in following me from the start?'

'Just thinking about this letter is irritating.'

Damian folded the letter again, then put it back into his pants pocket.

"For now... I should carry out the work Father gave me so I can finish it quickly."

He then walked toward the study room.

A little while later.

In front of the study.

Knock knock knock

Damian knocked on the door in front of him.

"Enter!"

The voice of a middle-aged man was heard inside the room.

Damian opened the door and immediately entered.

"Thank you—for allowing me to enter, Father," he said, bowing his body.

"What is your purpose for coming here?" in his usual very stiff manner of speaking.

"Father said you would punish me, right? What is the punishment?"

Without a single word, he directly handed over several documents to his son's hands, then sat down again.

"This...? What is the meaning of this?" Damian flinched in surprise after seeing the contents of the stacked papers.

"Study all of that!" he commanded indifferently.

"What?! .... but?....." Without responding to his son's words—the man calmly walked out, as if nothing had happened.

'Big Brother is still alive, right?.....'

Damian sighed.

"What exactly happened, Charles?"

"What were you all doing that you didn't come home for days?"

"Did you know something about that horde of monsters, and try to investigate it yourselves secret-l..."

"No, Father!"

The young man cut off the series of questions his Father uttered.

"We don't know anything about that monster at all, in fact—I only just learned about this because Father asked me."

"Is that so?" the old man asked, as if unconvinced.

"Besides, our purpose when we left was not that."

Charles clarified.

"Then?" Rigel interjected.

"There was something we had to do—and it has nothing to do with the monster you are talking about."

Charles turned his body and left his Father alone.

Clangggg... Tri engg....

Several people tried to wound the monsters with the weapons they possessed.

"Hey~! Be serious! Fight properly, how can you not manage just that."

A young woman standing on top of a tree kept yelling at them.

"Miss! If you are really that strong, could you please come down and help us?"

"We beg you!" a man with a miserable face looked up while swinging his axe.

"Miss!!!"

"Oh my. How noisy," the woman whispered.

"Just defeat that horde of monsters yourselves!" Her scream was loud enough to knock out one of the monsters.

"Amazing! If you screamed louder, maybe every living creature here or just passing by would faint."

A man suddenly appeared right beside the woman. Startled, the woman reflexively kicked him.

"Ouch! Hey, please calm down a little! Do you want to kill me?" The man rubbed his stomach with a sour face, enduring the pain.

Since she still wasn't comfortable, the woman took a stance and was about to kick him again.

"Whoa! What are you doing! You really want to kill me, huh?" he shouted in surprise.

"Besides, what are you doing in a place like this? Miss Chelsea?"

"Mmmmm... I was just told to supervise their training," she interjected.

"Training, you say?!" The man was shocked again.

Tilting his head, the man stared at Chelsea with a puzzled expression.

"Seriously? You call this training?" he asked again.

For a moment they stared at each other.

"I don't know, I doubt it too. The Master instructed me." She immediately jumped down, followed by the man.

"What about you, Leon?" Chelsea asked him.

"You bother me so often, don't you have any work to do?" she asked again.

"My work is done. Well then—I'll get going now! bye bye ~" Leon gradually disappeared from view.

"What an odd person," she muttered.

She then started walking forward, towards the training participants who were struggling to fight the monsters.

"Wow! A lot of them are knocked out, huh? What useless people. If they pass out just fighting monsters like this—how will they cope when they have to fight a really strong enemy?"

"Huft....." Chelsea sighed.

'Such a hassle.'

She then moved all the unconscious people to her 'place' using her spatial displacement magic, along with the monsters.
