Chapter 65 - Heading Out

After Fulen coolly extinguished the basement candle, the basement plunged into complete Darkness.

In the complete Darkness, besides the disappearance of vision, there was also the disappearance of hearing. Indeed, after the basement lost its light source, Fulen also, for some unknown reason, stopped making a sound.

"Ah ah ah~~~" Fulen shouted with his head in his hands in the Darkness. At this moment, Fulen felt he must be an idiot, intentionally misusing his ability just to look cool, which resulted in him having to light the candle again.

Fulen instinctively wanted to use 'Burning' to light a candle, but then he suddenly remembered he also had the 'Flash' ability. So, he narrowed his eyes, preparing to cast the 'Flash' Trick.

Fulen slowly began to feel the mysteries within the Trick casting process. After Fulen activated a part of his soul as if by instinct, a faint spirituality began to merge with the surrounding environment, and then a Flash emanated from Fulen's palm, which was wrapped in spirituality. Fulen couldn't help but widen his eyes, ready to see the power of the Trick he had cast.

It was very smooth; the power of 'Flash' exceeded Fulen's expectations. Fulen described it as being like a flashlight on Earth—no, it surpassed an ordinary flashlight, but it still wasn't as bright as a high-luminosity flashlight.

On Earth, Fulen had once courted disaster by turning on a powerful flashlight in the Darkness. Originally, a flashlight only shines in one direction and, at worst, wouldn't harm a person's eyes, but Fulen insisted on courting disaster by sticking his head in front of the flashlight.

The moment Fulen saw the powerful flashlight, he dropped it on the ground. At that time, Fulen felt physiological discomfort and psychological disgust. After abruptly closing his eyes, Fulen felt as if the whole world was bright; there was nothing but white in front of him.

As time passed, Fulen could feel the white fading after he closed his eyes, but when he opened them, Fulen was already in tears—no, it should be said that without Fulen realizing it, he had already started crying. And now, Fulen could finally feel sensations beyond sight, such as the touch of tears on his face.

Even more critically, after Fulen opened his eyes, he could only see the entire world as black. After a while, Fulen could gradually see things clearly.

Fulen didn't know if his reaction time was long or short, but Fulen himself felt as if an hour, or even longer, had passed. However, checking the time, Fulen knew it definitely wasn't an hour.

And because of this, Fulen developed a slight fear of flashlights, never looking directly at them, and whenever he saw car headlights or similar lights, he would instinctively lower his noble head.

And now, if asked why Fulen knew the 'Flash' Trick was so powerful, Fulen could only say, yes, he had looked directly at the Trick, and the current consequence was that Fulen had dispelled the Trick, covering his eyes with both hands, and began to shout loudly.

However, he stopped shouting after a short while. Fulen was surprised to find that his eyes no longer hurt. It seemed that the physical enhancement provided by 'Trickmaster', though not much, was quite powerful for Fulen, who was a weakling.

"I never expected that the first person I'd harm with a Trick would be myself. This is too hard for me," Fulen sighed inwardly.

However, Fulen's heart quickly stirred: "Hehe, since 'Flash' is so powerful, then other spells don't seem so weak either?"

After Fulen, feeling pleased, envisioned having considerable combat power, he finally decided to formulate a corresponding improvement plan:

"I am currently a 'Trickmaster'. According to Fors's digestion experience, I only need to perform at a Circus to systematically digest the potion. However, I still want to digest the potion faster. If I carefully digest the potion, I should—no, I will definitely digest it faster than Fors."

"So, I still need to start with the potion's name, 'Trickmaster'. Tricks are self-explanatory; I already have them. And 'Master' should refer to a deep understanding of Tricks. It seems I'll have to do some research too. Hmm, the combined meaning of Tricks and Master should be someone who has mastered Tricks and is a Master in this field. There are two aspects of understanding: a Master of Tricks, but only a Master of Tricks, so it won't be as difficult to digest as for a Magician. Even just performing at a Circus will allow for relatively quick digestion of the potion."

"Hmm, I need to go to a Circus first to understand how to become a Magician. But for me right now, I probably just need to watch one or two magic shows. While performing magic, I'll then decide how to analyze Tricks."

Fulen roughly understood what he should do next, so he didn't waste any time. He decided to head to a Circus now to watch one or two magic shows for analysis, and then volunteer to be a Magician at a Circus to digest the potion.

Trier was in early autumn at this time. The weather had only turned slightly colder, but compared to Trier's year-round abundant sunshine and high temperatures, the people of Trier actually felt more comfortable.

Fulen casually hailed a carriage and said, "Please take me to Harden Street in Kinsorne District."

Kinsorne District is the noble district, and Harden Street in Kinsorne District is a bustling commercial street, or rather, an entertainment street, because compared to commerce, the number of shops on Harden Street is far less than the number of theaters, cafes, and taverns on Harden Street.

Fulen, who had already prepared for the digestion of his future Pathway, naturally had already decided where he would digest his potion. After comparing several Circuses permanently based in Trier, Fulen specifically chose this Circus.

There was no other reason; among all the Circuses, only this one had relatively poor business.

The location of a Circus is very particular because the wealth disparity now is much more severe than in later generations. If it were chosen in a noble district or a wealthy district, it would be equivalent to pushing away many commoners with a small amount of assets, because high-end wealthy and noble districts strictly check the people entering and exiting. Fortunately, Fulen has not had any reason to go to those places until now.

And if it were chosen in a commoner's district or a poor district, it would be even worse. Almost no regular customers would go there to watch a Circus, and it would not be friendly to the animals kept by the Circus. And those who only occasionally had money to watch a Circus would also be unwilling to frequently go to another uncomfortable place to watch a Circus.

Therefore, the best choice for a Circus's location is a relatively lower-end wealthy district or a relatively higher-end commoner's district. A mid-to-upper-class location is the optimal location for a Circus.
