Chapter 52 - Saiji's Tavern

After Kvedo and Karl embraced, Karl seemed to shed his aristocratic burden, slowly exhaling a breath, then waved to the coachman who was waiting for his command. The coachman seemed to already know what Karl's gesture meant, so he whipped the two spirited horses, slowly driving the carriage away from Trenk Street.

Kvedo watched the departing carriage with some regret, reaching his hand towards where the carriage had left, clenching it twice as if wishing to pull the carriage back with his mind. But unfortunately, even if Kvedo had advanced from "Savant" to Sequence 7 "Appraiser," he still couldn't pull the carriage back on his own. Of course, an Artisan who hadn't created a suitable extraordinary materials couldn't either; perhaps only an Astronomer would have a directly applicable Beyonder ability.

After carefully considering the Savant Pathway, Fulen couldn't help but sigh that for a wild Beyonder, a Savant, who had no direct Beyonder abilities before Sequence 5, was not particularly popular. And Fulen thought that he was about to become a Beyonder with Beyonder abilities; although the Trickmaster's Beyonder abilities were not powerful, they were diverse enough.

Kvedo turned around and let out a wail: "Oh, my Karl, why did you let that carriage go? I still wanted to experience the elegance of a Gelin Family aristocratic carriage."

After glancing at Kvedo, Karl said unhurriedly: "Kvedo, I remember you should have your own carriage. Why are you still thinking of riding in mine? Besides, the tavern you mentioned should still be in Xingye District, right? You don't even need a carriage for that."

Kvedo looked like a defeated man who had just recovered: "Sigh, that's true, but I've never been inside someone else's carriage, and," Kvedo showed a rather interested expression, "I heard that aristocratic carriages are very luxurious, and many steamy novel stories happen inside them, so, hehe, why don't you call that carriage back?"

If this were happening in a two-dimensional world at this moment, one could imagine Karl's forehead would be covered in black lines, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Of course, Fulen had already seen Karl's face turn a bit green, clearly angered by his unreliable friend: "No, you've read too many of those circulating aristocratic romance novels, and I can't call the carriage back. The decorations are also just average, not luxurious."

Then the three of them saw Kvedo become dejected again. This time, Karl didn't let Kvedo continue to slump, but instead said: "Alright, your goal isn't to see my carriage, but to lead us to the tavern and attend the Extraordinary Gathering. Don't delay, let's go."

Upon hearing the term Extraordinary Gathering, Kvedo regained his unbelievably enthusiastic demeanor: "Yes, that's right, Extraordinary Gathering, 'Saiji's Tavern' is, um, to the north. Alright, let's go."

Then he quickly led Fulen and the other two away. Kvedo's rollercoaster-like mood swings left Fulen momentarily stunned, but seeing Erich and Karl following silently, he quickly caught up.

Thankfully, Fulen didn't have any heart problems or similar issues, otherwise, watching Kvedo's performance, he clearly wouldn't be able to handle it. Then Fulen quickly went to Erich's side and quietly asked, "Erich, are you sure Kvedo's exaggerated emotional changes are normal?"

After glancing at the concerned Fulen, Erich smiled and said, "No, I was very surprised at first too. After all, I've only ever encountered people like myself since I was young. I never expected to meet someone like this after coming to Intis. But since Kvedo himself has no problem, then there's really nothing wrong. Studying abroad in Trier still has its rewards; after all, besides knowledge, seeing all sorts of people is also part of the study tour."

Fulen hadn't expected the seemingly aloof Erich to be so lively, but he was still happy, as an active companion was much better than a cold one. Then he agreed, saying, "Yes, I also hope to go on a study tour later. Lenburg is also one of my destinations. I hope to meet knowledgeable and talented people like you there."

Erich's usually indifferent voice now carried a hint of fluctuation: "Lenburg, ah, there are actually many cities there, you can't generalize, but in Intis, I feel like you usually refer to our whole region as Lenburg. However, Lenburg is indeed the capital of the country of Lenburg, and I also come from there."

Erich looked at Kvedo, who was actively leading the way, not forgetting to look back at his companions and then chat with Karl, and continued, "I come from Lenburg. The Scholars there are usually not in libraries; their studies can almost be considered private libraries, you also know that Lenburg is the holy land of papermaking. As for Scholars, many famous Scholars like to research things at home, rather than going out to libraries or universities, hmm, except when they're exchanging ideas. But they're not aloof; they're keen on sharing knowledge with other intelligent people."

Fulen was curious upon hearing the details about Lenburg and quickly asked, "Hmm, Erich, I've seen the breadth and enthusiasm of Lenburg people in you. So, what are the customs like in Lenburg?"

Hearing Fulen praise the enthusiasm he saw in him, Erich was a little flustered, then recalled and said with pride, "Lenburg, the holy land of knowledge. Everyone there loves to learn. Even the poorest residents are enthusiastic about reading, and at the same time, they are diligent in labor. The god of knowledge and wisdom says, 'Knowledge comes from labor; to revere knowledge is also to revere labor.' So, in Lunburg, we basically don't have slums like Trier."

Fulen heard that Lenburg seemed to have achieved an ideal communist society and could hardly believe his ears, because in Erich's description, Lenburg sounded like a paradise, a paradise that existed in dreams rather than reality. However, as for the truth, Fulen still felt he should go there and see for himself before drawing conclusions.

Before Fulen could ask further questions, Kvedo, without Fulen noticing, arrived in front of him and said, "Hey, Fulen, stop chatting for now, we're here, look."

Kvedo interrupted Fulen's desire to continue asking questions. Following Kvedo's finger, Fulen saw a place that was less a tavern and more a coffee shop, a tavern guarded from the outside. Of course, this tavern's decor far surpassed that of the Flame-Axe tavern; the entire building resembled a modern luxury hotel, surrounded by residential areas.

Fulen was astonished that such a luxurious tavern existed now, and looking up, Kvedo had a smile on his face, while Karl hadn't expected such a luxurious tavern in the residential area of Xingye District. As for Erich, he wasn't interested in the tavern but was looking around, as if there was something in the surroundings that caught his attention.
