SCHENE SHIFTS
Rain poured down in relentless sheets, soaking everything in sight. Lightning split the dark sky, illuminating the chaos below. More than fifteen hunters were in hot pursuit, their shouts lost in the roar of the storm. Ahead, two X-rank warriors ran side by side—one clad in a black hoodie, the other in heavy armor that gleamed even under the gray sky.
"I can't run anymore," the armored warrior panted, sweat and rain dripping down his face. His eyes met the hooded warrior's, fierce and determined. "You make your escape. I'll handle these guys."
Before the hooded warrior could protest, the armored warrior spun around with deadly precision. In one swift motion, his blade sliced through the air—and the hunter right behind them fell, his head severed cleanly.
The other hunters froze, shock and fear momentarily rooting them in place.
"Give up already!" one of them roared, fury flashing in his eyes as he charged.
The hooded warrior watched, tense and ready, as the hunter lunged with a knife. But before he could even react, the armored warrior moved again—grabbing the attacker from behind and pinning him with unyielding strength.
The armored warrior turned sharply, rain hammering against his armor as lightning lit the stormy sky.
"Run!!" he shouted.
The hooded warrior froze, tears blurring his vision.
"But… how can I?" he whispered, trembling.
The armored warrior's stern expression softened for a brief moment. His voice lowered, heavy with emotion.
"Please… brother."
Before the moment could linger, a hunter lunged from behind.
The armored warrior staggered, but only slightly. Releasing the attacker he had been holding, he spun around with practiced precision. In an instant, the hunter was disarmed and knocked away, collapsing into the mud.
"Go!!" the armored warrior roared again.
This time, the hooded warrior ran.
Rain soaked him as his heart pounded. Without looking back, he shouted into the storm, voice trembling with resolve and fury.
"Mark my words, you hunters!
I'll become the strongest one day…
and I'll surpass all of you!"
The storm swallowed his vow.
An arrow flew through the air, striking the armored warrior and forcing him to kneel.
Yet even kneeling, he did not falter.
A lone warrior, holding the line through the storm—
protecting the path his brother escaped along.
A hunter stepped forward, determined to finish the armored warrior.
But before the attack could land, the warrior turned his head slightly and smiled—a calm, almost defiant smile amidst the chaos.
Lightning split the stormy sky above, illuminating the scene in blinding flashes.
Then, something impossible happened. The warrior's remaining body began to glow, radiating a pure white light that cut through the rain.
"Watch out!" one hunter shouted, eyes wide as he tried to make sense of the sudden phenomenon.
In an instant, the glowing body erupted with a tremendous burst of energy. A shockwave of yellow light rippled outward, obliterating everything in its path. Trees splintered, mud was thrown into the air, and the very ground shook beneath them.
When the dust settled, only three hunters remained alive. The others had been swept away by the overwhelming force.
One survivor struggled to his feet, soaked in rain and mud. His voice shook as he tried to comprehend what he had just witnessed.
"What… was that?!"
Another, equally battered, clenched his fists in fury.
"Damn that warrior!"
The third hunter cautiously approached the spot where the warrior had stood, curiosity overriding fear. He bent down to inspect the remains, searching for anything that might be useful.
The survivors staggered, rain still dripping from their armor and clothes.
"What now… our comrades are gone!" one hunter groaned, panic edging his voice.
The hunter who had been inspecting the glowing remains of the armored warrior held something aloft.
"Hey, come here! I found a map!"
The others froze, shock written across their faces.
"What?! A map?!"
He spread it carefully, tracing lines with his finger.
"This… this might be the location of their hideout."
The hunter standing near the bloodied survivor turned to him, urgency in his tone.
"You—go inform headquarters. We're heading to this location."
The bloodied hunter saluted.
"Understood!"
In the next moment, he vanished, leaving only a single leaf drifting to the ground in his wake.
Scene shifts to the warriors' hideout
The rain had finally stopped, leaving the air crisp and fresh. Smoke curled from campfires as the warriors settled in for the evening, their shadows dancing in the flickering light.
On the edge of a hill, a warrior stood, scarf wrapped around his face and sword in hand, gazing at the sunset.
WAR. Victory belongs to those with power.
SACRIFICE. Without it, victory is impossible.
A voice called softly from behind.
"Hey, bro. Good evening!"
The warrior turned, eyes meeting his companion.
"Hey, Soichiro. What's up?"
Soichiro tilted his head, curiosity in his gaze.
"What are you doing here at this time, Toji?"
Toji replied lazily, leaning against a tree.
"Nothing… just enjoying the beauty of nature."
Soichiro smiled faintly.
"And you? Why are you here?"
"Nothing important. I just came to tell you I'm heading to the "sunvale"village with my family to buy some things."
Just then, a small figure came running down the hill.
"Father! Father! Let's go already!" the eight-year-old boy shouted, throwing himself into Soichiro's arms.
Soichiro ruffled his son's hair, laughing softly.
"Yeah, yeah. Just wait five minutes."
"No! Let's go now!" the boy protested, tears of impatience glimmering in his eyes.
Toji lifted the boy easily, eyes sharp beneath his casual smile.
"Soichi, it's a bad habit to disobey your parents."
Soichiro's smile faltered slightly, regret crossing his face.
"But, Mr. Toji…"
Toji's eyes met his, unwavering.
"No excuses."
From a short distance, Soichiro's wife, Himari, approached, walking gracefully across the campfire-lit clearing.
Himari smiled warmly as she approached.
"You shouldn't be so harsh on children, Lord Toji," she said gently.
"Especially since you're going to be a father soon."
Toji laughed, turning to her with a playful grin.
"Yeah, you're right. I suppose I should be more careful."
Himari took Soichiro from Toji's arms, cradling him carefully.
"I'm sorry, Toji, but we're in a bit of a hurry," she said.
"We'll talk when we return. And take care of Shizuka—this is her delivery month, after all."
Toji nodded, his usual casual tone returning.
"Yeah! You all should move before the rain starts again."
Scene shifts
The bloodied hunter, soaked from the storm and exhausted from his journey, finally arrived at the Runeshade fort. After minutes of running through winding corridors, he entered a massive, darkened meeting hall.
The room was almost pitch black. At the far end, a figure sat upon a throne, one leg crossed over the other, eyes closed, face obscured in shadow.
The hunter knelt, shivering as he approached.
"My lord… we hunted down those warriors," he said, voice trembling.
A strange smile appeared on the man's face, unsettling in its calmness.
"But… a problem occurred," the hunter stammered, still shaking.
The man's smile vanished instantly. He stood, towering over the hall.
"What?! What now?!" His voice thundered, sharp enough to make the walls tremble.
"My lord… during the hunt, twelve hunters were lost," the hunter admitted, terror evident in his voice.
In a surge of anger, the man struck the ground with a fist. The impact cracked the floor, sending shockwaves throughout the land.
He stepped toward the trembling hunter.
"Then how… and why are you still alive? You should have joined them!" His grip tightened on the hunter's neck, lifting him slightly off the ground.
"And where are the others?" he demanded.
"They… they found a map from the warriors," the hunter whispered, his voice barely audible.
"They went to investigate. Perhaps it's the location of their hideout."
A slow, sinister smile returned to the man's face. He released the hunter, letting him drop to the floor.
"Go," he commanded.
"Prepare all S-rank hunters. They must be ready for the consequences of this failure."
The man extended his hands, connecting to all S-rank hunters through a forbidden technique. His voice echoed like a command across the land.
"HUNTERS… ASSEMBLE!"
The hall trembled as the words reverberated, and a storm of anticipation and dread filled the air.
