The day of the hunt, Yuan review his materials ready for his hunt. "Well, it won't be easy with what I have here". On the floor was a rusty pipe and his pendant. "But now the hardest part is using it to kill a ghoul? This thing will break within a swing". He hides his rusty pipe with a blanket and attached it on his back and took a stroll outside thinking of the best manner to use his weapon, "still, stealing a weapon is also an idea but…" he touched his face reminiscing of the merchant. Walking down street were a crowd. Suspicious, he turned away and walked to another hallway. His walk took a dead end when he found someone, a corpse."what the hell happened to him?" He said as he walked closer to the corpse. The person had a dagger on his chest and their fingers were missing. "I don't like to disrespect the dead but you probably don't need it". He took the dagger and sprint away to the venue of the hunt. By the way he saw a worn out blanket and cut it into pieces with the dagger and kept it. As he arrived at the entrance of the forest, he saw the same old man and the hunters. The other children were swinging their swords and demonstrating their magic. Yuan just sat on a nearby rock minding his business. A young boy with a dagger came to his side. He said with a smug smile, "look at you idiot, you think sitting alone will help you. I advice you to form a team or you will die here rapidly". Yuan just looked at him unbothered, "you are yelling too much, and I'm not interested". The boy pissed off held his collar, "you think you are above me?! I'm giving you an opportunity to be in a group and you just decline it?". The children looked at the commotion but nobody tried to separate, Yuan took a long sigh and said, "Then I'm giving you a chance to be a fool in the eyes of others" "Shut up underdog" He punched Yuan on the face. "You are a plague to the others, don't even try to pass this hunt, if you even think about it I will kill you on the spot". Yuan just looked at him dully, "I will kill you before you even try that". The boy aim another punch to his face when someone held his hand. "Stop that Kaito" a black hair boy said as he surprisely held his hand with force. Kaito gasped and nod scaredly. The boy releases his grip and Kaito walked back to his group with a grim face. Yuan wiped his face and sat down again. "I'm sorry if my friend was brutal to you, my name is Ren". He extended his hand for a handshake, unbothered Yuan just looked at him, "you are not the one to apologize to me". Ren nodded and sat beside Yuan, "If you want we can be friends?" He said still smiling. "I don't need friends…" before Yuan could finished, the old man went to the center of the hunters and said,"I'll be waiting for you at the end of the forest, the first one who comes with the ghoul will receive the money" he said as we walked away. The other hunters ran to the forest. Ren stood up and held his weapon, a broken sword. "Wish you the best" Ren said and went to the forest. Yuan stood up thirty minutes later and stretched himself. He went to the forest and climbed on a tree. "In this hunt, I don't have skills nor magic to help me. I will have to play tricks on them" he thought as he sat on a branch. His thought were interrupted with the cries of the nearby hunters. "Seems like there is a move" he said as he saw the scene far from his position.
30 minutes before
Kaito and his group walked into the forest. The other children were scared but they gripped their weapon tightly, "Uhm, Kaito. Are you sure your plan will work? " one hunter, a girl with long blue hair said. "What? Don't you trust me?! You want to go alone?" Kaito said irritated. "You know without me you will be eaten within minutes, I'm the only one here whose Mana is 3rd rank so shut your mouths" he said sternly. Ren just walked behind the group in his thoughts. When they reached the lake, the blue hair girl exclaimed. "K-kaito….something's weird" "What again?!" Kaito shot back irritated. The girl tremble and said, "there are two people who disappeared." Eventually, they counted themselves and out of eight people, two disappeared. "They surely ran away out of fear, what do you want" Kaito assumed but Ren interjected "if they ran I could have saw it coming but nobody went in another route or turned away." As he said, the others tensed and came closer. That's when Ren saw the water shifting slightly, it was too late. In a second, the nearest person was pulled in the water, he yelled and tried to move away but it was over. The others move away from the lake and hide behind Kaito. Tensed up, Kaito held his dagger with a hand and his other to the ground. Out of the water, a broken hand was seen at the lake shore. It was slowly rising up until we can see the creature. Mismatched hands all over his body, his torso was filled with rows of teeth and eyes and his "head" lacked human facial features. Just an opening of teeth. "Look at what I've found" the monster said as he fixed his head to their side. "You think you can scare me?" Kaito said as he controlled the vines beside him and shot it to the monster. It just smirked as it slashed the vines and black puddle that came out of the monster bonded his hands. The monster grinned but as he was aiming for Kaito's head. His head was gripped by two sturdy vines and he was pulled away. Surprised, he tried to slash the vines but he was hit by a rusty pipe on the head. He staggered and fell down. Yuan jumped down the tree and looked at the monster as he gripped his pipe tightly. "It's a luck it hasn't snapped yet" he thought. The monster slowly sat up and snarled at Yuan, "you are dead."
