Naruto rushed Kiba, and began to engage the boy in taijutsu. Naruto was faster and stronger, but Kiba's technique was better. Naruto would throw a punch and Kiba would defend it perfectly, soon it became annoying. So Naruto backed away and made four shadow clones.
As soon as Naruto let up, everyone saw the damage. Kiba was bruised and battered, yet still standing.
"Damn, when did you get so damn strong Naruto?"
Naruto grinned and said, "Maybe you're just weaker than me Kiba."
Kiba tossed Akamaru a pill and announced: [Ninja Art: Beast Mimicry]
Akamaru transformed into an identical Kiba and Kiba became more feral. Claws protruded from his finger nails and his canines sharpened. The two Kiba's rushed Naruto and Naruto recalled something.
Back in the forest, he'd seen the power attack from on high could have. So he decided he would repeat but would try not to kill Kiba with it. Naruto made more clones and used the smoke as cover to climb the wall and stand above Kiba with a few other clones.
Kiba landed and yelled: [Man-Beast: Down on all Fours Jutsu]
Kiba smashed into the ground with his doppelganger and looked around trying to figure out which Naruto was the real one. The clones however decided to attack. The two Kiba's were once again put on defense, and so Kiba pulled out his trump card.
He yelled, while running towards the last four Naruto clones: [Man-Beast Jutsu: Fang over Fang]
Kiba and his doppelganger flew towards the clones. Ripping them to shreds only to realize they were all clones. At that point it was too late. From above, Naruto came ripping down, and was grabbed by his two clones. They spun him towards Kiba and Akamaru.
Naruto executed a spinning manuever mid air just as his foot reached Kiba's eye level, he released the gathered energy into a single kick. A sickening crack resounded through the room as Naruto connected. Kiba flew back as pain rang through his body, causing him to dispel his transformation jutsu.
He didn't move. Naruto realized he might've hit the boy too hard and rushed over to check on Kiba. Kiba was fine except for a few broken ribs. He was breathing and so the Medical Ninja rushed in to take him away for emergency care.
Hayate said, "The fifth round is over. Now we wait for the sixth!"
Once again everyone looked in anticipation for who would fight next.
The screen read: Temari vs Aoi Kento
Raito who'd been standing away from his team looked down the way at Aoi who began walking towards the stairs. Raito high fived her as she walked past them towards the floor.
Hayate said, "Begin!"
Temari was already known. Aoi had been told by Raito what the girls abilities most likely entailed, and so she needed to get in close. Aoi blitzed the sand girl with a kunai in hand and nothing but hope. Temari tried to create distance, but Aoi was fast. She'd trained with Raito on occasion, and knew how to keep close contact.
Aoi struck over and over but continued to get blocked. However she never let Temari open up her fan. So Temari was growing frustrated as the fight continued. So she used it as a hammer instead of a fan.
Moving a slight bit away, Temari swung the Fan like a blade and threw Aoi across the room. Aoi got back up and flew through the handseals. Raito had always said battles are not meant to last. The speed she flew through them surprised even the Hokage. Temari on the other hand finally opened her fan and prepared to use a wind jutsu.
She yelled while slamming her hand on the ground, [Water Release: Geyser Jutsu]
Right where Temari stood, a torrent of water burst out the ground and shot Temari into the air and completely prone. Aoi then shot senbon from her holster straight towards Temari's clothes with ease. They pinned the sand girl to the sealing and caused her to drop the fan onto the ground.
"Quick and easy," Aoi said to Temari.
Hayate was surprised by the speed and efficiency, and said, "This match is finished in favor of Aoi Kento."
The screen blinked for round 7: Genma Arashi vs Gaara
Genma was one of Raito's cousins but as Raito turned to look at him, he saw fear.
Genma immediately yelled, "I forfeit this match!"
Gaara was not thrilled but kept himself quiet. He'd kill Genma when they were next to meet.
The screen blinked for round 8: Choji Akamachi vs Zaku
Choji lost this fight. It was barely a fight and so no one was satisfied with the outcome of the last couple fights. Raito on the other hand was growing concerned. The Konoha shinobi were fighting other nation's shinobis but only two Dato ninja had fought.
Raito got his wish.
The screen read: Karasu Arashi vs Shino Aburame
Karasu disappeared and reappeared on the floor below. Raito watched his teammates carefully as he heard the others discuss what was occurring.
Sakura said, "These past fights were basically nonexistent. Maybe these two will give us something."
Naruto replied, "I agree. I think that Shino's got it in the bag."
Shino spoke on the floor below, "I forfeit."
Naruto yelled, "What! Why?!"
Shino replied looking up at Naruto, "He's in the recently published bingo book. He's a threat level four according to it. He's already made a name for himself in battles I have not. He will find a way to persist that I've never seen. It's simple really, his experience beats out any confidence I've got."
Karasu frowned a slight bit and said, "Experience ain't everything Shino-san. I've beaten those years more experienced."
"I'm sure you have. However you are ninjutsu and genjutsu specialists with summoning capability. I won't beat you in a pitched battle. It's simply not worth the risk of losing half my hive to it."
"Fine. I accept your forfeit, but one day I hope we meet in the field. I fear we are a lot more alike than you know."
The two fighters separated and walked back up the stairs. Once again everyone was disappointed by the outcome but looked to the board.
The board blinked: Hakuto vs Tenten Higarashi
Hakuto approached the floor and Raito remembered something. Hakuto was the star pupil of Hakuji, a man who focused on taijutsu a lot like Might Guy. Hakuto was probably a threat in close combat. He was beyond right, Hakuto flew so fast, that Tenten was unable to put a proper guard. She was pommeled into the ground in less than thirty seconds.
Once again the fight had been very disappointing. No ups or downs, just the surprise of a damn good fighter.
The board blinked again: Kankuro vs Rina Arashi
Rina lost but in the process, completely broke Kankuro's puppet. She was also a taijutsu fighter however, she enhanced her body with a thin layer of chakra. The layer was so damn good at it's job it allowed her to punch through the wood with extreme ease. Kankuro however was forced to use poison to defeat Rina. That fight had been satisfying but everyone knew who the last fight was going to be with now.
The board blinked one final time: Rock Lee vs Raito Arashi
Raito would've preferred to have not fought but he knew his father would be severely disappointed if he'd forfeited. At least the disappointment would be lessened if he suffered a defeat. So reluctantly Raito walked towards the floor, whereas Rock Lee enthusiastically jumped into the arena.
Naruto said to Sasuke and anyone who was listening, "We finally get to see what let him and his team finish so quickly."
"He has to be fast or something, he did the exam in an hour."
This careful peace of information intrigued Gaara who for the first time actively sought out someone without trying to kill them.
Gaara approached and asked, "You said he did it in an hour? How?"
Naruto grinned and excitedly said, "We don't know! That's what we hope to see."
Kakashi on the other hand replied, "He's an Arashi. For those of you who don't know, the Arashi clan have large chakra reserves and great chakra control. Two things any shinobi would envy are exemplified by their clan."
Neji added, "I agree, his reserves are almost as large as the Hokage's."
Naruto blinked and turned to see the match about to commence.
Rock Lee said, "I hope we can be friendly about Raito-san."
"Rock Lee, you can't use ninjutsu correct?"
Lee frowned but nodded.
"I won't use it either then. I ought to fight you on your own terms."
Rock Lee said, "No! I forbid it! I will fight you like I have to fight any ninja. You get ninjutsu…"
Raito replied, "I will win then."
Lee grinned and said, "You may underestimate me Raito."
Lee flew towards Raito. Raito dodged out of the way and activated his Hikarigan. He also applied a small genjutsu to hide the dojutsu. The second stage showed him the light and Raito got into his Precision Fist stance. This bout would be hearty and a good spar.
Raito dodged everything Lee threw at him. Moving skillfully in between attacks and counterattacking with even more ease. Lee continued to try his best but ultimately he realized it would not be enough.
In the gallery Might Guy smiled and said, "Lee, you may have found an eternal rival! You may do it!"
Lee looked up at his teacher and smiled before disappearing to the top of the hand sign sculpture at the end of the room. Lee lifted up his yellow shoe covers and Raito grinned madly himself.
He yelled, "Lee! We're taking weights off now are we?"
The gallery looked between the two and watched as Raito made a single handsign. The handsigns released chakra from him. Lee grinned, he hadn't expected Raito to have a gravity seal on him at all times. Even his sensei had yet to give him one.
Nobody saw the next few moments except for the Hokage, Kakashi and Might Guy. The two genin blurred, trading blows until Raito dodged Lee's kick. It was here that Raito disappeared and reappeared behind Lee.
Raito yelled: [Precision Fist: Ultimate Mechanism]
Raito turned his body and slammed his shin into Lee's stomach with such force blood left Lee's mouth. Lee flew towards the ground and in the same vein, Raito followed, head first. It was there that Raito completed the technique. Appearing from below the boy, Raito jumped up and applied the exact same kick on him again. This time, the energy had no time to dissipate so close to the ground.
Lee hit the ground with incredible force, causing a crater to appear. He was out cold and so Raito respectfully distanced himself for the medical ninja to do their job.
They announced, "Lee is fine. However, he's suffered broken ribs, and his stomach and abdomen are severely bruised. It will take him a while to recover."
Raito nodded and looked at Hayate who had yet to realize the fight was over.
Hayate realized and said, "That concludes the preliminaries. All winners come to the floor so you may draw sticks for your matches."
Once all the winners had gathered and grabbed sticks, everyone saw the match ups. The matchups went as follows:
Round 1: Neji Hyuga vs Naruto Uzumaki
Round 2: Sasuke Uchiha vs Gaara
Round 3: Sakura Haruno vs Karasu Arashi
Round 4: Aoi Kento vs Shikamaru
Round 5: Hakuto vs Zaku
Round 6: Raito Arashi vs Kankuro
Raito was annoyed that he was last again but he was excited to see all the matches before him.
The Hokage spoke, "The third exam will commence in a month. This is to give time for dignitaries, mission givers and even the Yokage and Kazekage to arrive. Like I said, the third exam is a showcase of your chunin capabilities."
Hayate followed with, "Indeed, this means that you have a month to rest, recover, and train as well as strategize. You've displayed some of your techniques if not all of them, in this bout so it's your chance to learn something new."
Soon, the group was dismissed and allowed to head their own ways.
