Zarek watched Eliora carefully as she rested in his arms.
After a moment, he looked up at Maelina.
"How will we know if the concealment worked?" he asked. "She still smells the same to me. She has always smelled the same."
Maelina shrugged. "I don't know. You're bonded to her. You would recognize her scent no matter what. Only people who don't know her scent would be able to tell if it worked."
Zarek gave a small nod, though the worry on his face didn't fade.
Just then, a soft light flickered.
He frowned and looked down.
Eliora's hair was glowing again.
"Maelina," he called sharply. "Look."
Maelina quickly stood and stepped closer. Her eyes widened.
"Saints…" she whispered. "It's so bright."
The red strands of Eliora's hair shimmered like burning embers, glowing stronger with every second.
Zarek's forehead folded. "What does this mean?"
