Chapter 34 - Illusion Spell

The Gryffindor common room was packed with students in the afternoon, all sitting on the sofas chatting.

The lounge had limited seating, and it was crowded and noisy, so Albert had no intention of lingering there. He posted the first-year students' schedule on the bulletin board, put his camera and photos back in his dormitory, and went straight to the library on the fifth floor of the castle.

There were no other students in the library. That's true; even among Ravenclaw students, few would step into the library before the official start of the semester.

The only person in the library was Mrs. Irma Pines, the librarian, who sat quietly behind the counter reading a book.

As Albert walked toward the counter, Mrs. Pince looked up, seemingly surprised that someone would come to the library at this hour.

"Madam, excuse me. I'm looking for some books on spells. Do you know which shelf they're on?" Albert asked softly.

Actually, Albert could have looked for it himself, but there are quite a few books here, and it would have been time-consuming, laborious, and unpleasant. Asking the librarian directly is the fastest way.

Mrs. Pince glanced at Albert, then pointed to a row of wooden bookshelves and said, "Section C, the fifth bookshelf."

Albert looked in the direction the other person was pointing, said thank you, and walked towards the bookshelves in section C. His gaze paused for a moment at the rope leading to the forbidden section before continuing onward. On the fifth bookshelf, there were many books about spells.

As Albert ran his hand along the spine of the book, his fingers paused involuntarily, because two tasks suddenly popped up on his control panel.

A reading fanatic.

As someone who loves reading, how could you possibly miss the largest magical library in the UK?

Having read a total of 100 books, each inch thick,

The reward is the random acquisition of 3 types of magic, which can be upgraded to level 3.

Current status: 0/100

Magical forbidden zone.

The forbidden section of Hogwarts holds many secrets, and as someone who loves magic, how could you possibly miss it? Borrowing a few books from there and studying them carefully can help improve your magical skills.

Successfully persuade five professors to allow you to borrow five books from the restricted section.

The reward skill level increases by 1.

Current status: 0/5

Honestly, both missions are complete traps!

Reading a hundred books is no easy feat, especially since they're a full inch thick. Does this mean he has to read a hundred brick-sized books?

They could kill someone just by smashing it.

This task can't be completed in a short time; if we can finish reading it within three years, we should thank Merlin for his protection.

The second task was even more difficult; getting a note from the professors to borrow books from the restricted area was no easy feat.

Moreover, obtaining signed notes from five different professors was even more difficult.

In Albert's memory, Gilderoy Lockhart was probably the easiest to portray.

However, the difficulty is high, but the rewards are also rich, with a skill level increase of 1, which is much more powerful than skill points.

These tasks are not the time to think about now. Albert cleared his mind of distractions and casually pulled out a spellbook called "Selected Eighteenth-Century Spells".

He flipped through the catalog and counted; it listed thirty-three spells, each with detailed information about its inventor, how to correctly use the spell, and the significance of its invention…

After looking at the table of contents, Albert lost interest in the book; he couldn't find the Disillusionment Charm in the table of contents.

The other spells are good, but they are not useful to Albert at the moment. Learning these spells would require a lot of time and effort, or using up his stored experience points.

Albert doesn't want to use the experience pool, even though it still has a lot of experience left.

Putting "Selected Eighteenth-Century Spells" back on the shelf, Albert pulled out another book, "Spell Achievements," a book about spells. It was in this book that Albert found the Disillusionment Charm.

Unfortunately, the book does not explain how to cast the Illusion Spell, but only introduces some attempts at the spell.

However, based on the information provided above, Albert found records of the Illusion Charm in "Anthology of Nineteenth-Century Charms".

This is undoubtedly good news.

Albert, holding "Selected Nineteenth-Century Spells," sat at a desk in the library, opening the book and reading it carefully.

The Illusion Charm was inspired by the chameleon; the spell allows a person to blend into their surroundings and become invisible.

A skilled wizard using the Disillusionment Charm is not easily detected, but a clumsy one is hard to fool others because the body cannot blend into the surroundings, creating a strange sense of unease.

As Albert was engrossed in reading about the Illusion Charm, he noticed someone pull his chair out. Looking up, he saw it was the Ravenclaw girl he'd met in the Great Hall that morning.

Seemingly noticing Albert's gaze, the other person looked up and nodded slightly at Albert before turning their attention back to the book.

"As expected of Ravenclaw," Albert muttered to himself, continuing to read the instructions for the Disillusionment Charm, preparing to find a place to practice.

The next step is to find the solution to the illusion curse.

Although the illusion spell doesn't last very long, if you don't know how to break it, you might have to wait for the spell's effects to wear off before you automatically reappear, which isn't a good idea.

There is no record of the spell's ending, but Albert found the Revealing Charm in "The Spellbook of Achievements".

Albert took "Selected Nineteenth-Century Spells" to Mrs. Pince to borrow the book, and picked up a stone outside the castle to use as a target for practice. He certainly wouldn't be foolish enough to use spells he hadn't mastered on himself.

Just as Albert was considering where to practice his spells, the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan appeared in the foyer, panting.

"Where did you go at noon?" Albert asked the three of them.

"Fifth floor, mirror." George was out of breath and could barely speak.

"Where does that passage lead?" Albert asked.

"Outside the castle, we're going to Hogsmeade Village." Fred's face beamed with excitement. On their very first day at Hogwarts, they had discovered a secret passage leading outside the school.

Albert raised an eyebrow and said, "So... how many hours did you spend in Hogsmeade before coming back?"

"No, that secret passage was very long; it took us at least an hour to walk through it."

"You guys… are really amazing!" Albert managed to squeeze out those words; an hour's walk would have been an ordeal for him.

After all, why would someone who's just coasting along on the sofa and reading go through the trouble of crawling into a secret passage, which takes two hours to get there and back?

Why bother?

"This is my work," Albert said, holding up the book in his hand. "I borrowed it from the library."

"You've found the spell." Fred realized what Albert was referring to.

"Well, we found it." Albert was somewhat impressed by Fred's resourcefulness. "However, mastering this spell is a bit difficult. If you want to learn it, you should be prepared."
