Chapter 11 - magic night

Late at night, on Tibbet Avenue, the lights in the second-floor window of house number 19 were still on.

Albert was quickly reading the contents of the book, and he also upgraded his Rapid Memory to Level 2, significantly strengthening his memory. Ordinary people don't have this ability; at least, in terms of memory, they are definitely not as strong as Albert.

Just now, Albert discovered he had gained a new, unfamiliar skill: Wizard Bloodline, Level 0.

Normal experience cannot upgrade this skill; it can only be upgraded with skill points.

This was the first time he had encountered such a situation, and Albert hesitated for a moment but still upgraded Wizard Bloodline to Level 1.

After upgrading the skill, Albert found that his efficiency in learning magic had increased, or rather, his magicpower had become stronger. His mastery of the Lumos spell became faster; he only practiced for ten-odd minutes and managed to raise the skill to Level 1.

This meant Albert had a preliminary grasp of the spell; he could easily use it even without deliberately concentrating.

Should he invest all his skill points?

Albert hesitated. Skill points were hard to obtain, and he needed to save some for himself.

However, after much hesitation, he still invested the remaining 2 skill points, only to find that it could only be upgraded by one level?

What a rip-off!

After Albert raised Wizard Bloodline to Level 2, he didn't feel any other changes.

Is it a passive skill?

Albert was a little depressed, but he didn't regret it. He walked out of the room and began to try Alohomora.

He held his wand in one hand and opened "the standard book of spells, Beginner" with the other. Following the gestures taught in the book, he gently waved it twice, somewhat like a reverse S-shape, which felt very awkward.

After several more attempts, Albert locked the door behind him and gave his doorknob an Alohomora.

Albert reached out and twisted a few times, but the lock didn't open.

It failed.

Although the failure was expected, there was still good news: Alohomora appeared on the panel again, but this time there was no experience.

"Albert, what are you doing?" a girl's voice sounded from behind him. Nia, dressed in pajamas, appeared at the end of the Hallway.

Albert turned his head to look at his younger sister. He knew how she felt right now, like catching a thief stealing snacks.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Albert asked.

"I can't sleep!" Nia complained, "You're so sneaky, you really are secretly practicing magic."

Albert was a little embarrassed, but it was true. It was like being caught stealing... cough, cough, stealing dessert, feeling a bit guilty.

"I want to play too!" Nia said, staring intently at Albert's wand.

"But this isn't a toy!" Albert shook his head, saying he wouldn't let his sister use this wand.

Children are the least restrained and act solely on their own preferences. No one knows what big trouble she might cause.

Of course, the premise is that Nia is also a Wizard.

After all, Albert himself is a Wizard, so there's a high probability that Nia is also a Wizard. Therefore, he wouldn't let Nia easily try to use the wand, at least not now.

"You're so sneaky, aren't you secretly playing yourself?" Nia complained, like a child whose toy has been snatched away.

"Aren't you going back to sleep?" Albert changed the subject.

"No, I can't sleep."

"Then I'll tell you a story!" Albert pulled out his keys, reopened the door, and walked in.

"Albert is too sneaky!" Nia muttered, but still picked up Tom and walked into Albert's room.

As soon as Tom entered the room, he sniffed around, seemingly looking for an owl, and had strong opinions about the birdcage by the window.

"Alright, Tom, Shera went out to forage!" Albert picked up the short-haired cat, stroked its belly, and then didn't forget to put his wand in the drawer, lock it, and put the key in his pocket. As if guarding against a thief, Albertknew his sister's personality too well.

"Hmph! Is it really necessary to guard against me like a thief?" Nia pouted unhappily.

"Don't I know you?" Albert rolled his eyes at Nia, "If you got your hands on the wand, wouldn't you blow up our house?"

"I wouldn't!" Nia said stubbornly.

"Who knows if you wouldn't? Don't forget how you got those scratches on your arm." Albert didn't want to try, "Don't promise me anything. I don't want you to suddenly lose an arm one day, or even worse, lose your life."

"I wouldn't." Nia felt a little guilty.

Indeed, it was a similar situation back then. It wasn't long after Tom arrived at their house, and she got scratched because she treated Tom roughly. She still remembered Albert angrily scolding her.

That was the first time Nia saw Albert angry.

"Don't forget the lesson." Albert retorted, "Do you still want to hear a story?"

"Okay!" Nia leaned on the cushion, stroked Tom's fur, and quietly listened to Albert tell fairy tales. He was already very skilled; he used to do it to practice his spoken English and improve his English level. After all, his core wasn't authentically British. Although he had been exposed to it after transmigrating, he still had some gaps in this area.

It's worth mentioning that he also picked up a foreign language; French was also raised to Level 1 with his experience. Albert being considered a genius was not without reason.

"Albert, do you think I'll be able to use magic in the future?" Nia suddenly asked.

"You should be able to. If I can use magic, Nia should be able to too." Albert comforted her.

"That's because you're a genius; you learn everything so fast."

"This has nothing to do with being a genius, does it?" Albert was speechless for a moment, "We're siblings. If I can, you should be able to too."

"But Grandpa couldn't. He said everyone in his family could, but he was the only one who couldn't," Niamurmured, "And Dad can't either."

Herb was innocently dragged into it.

"Even if you can't use magic, you can do other things." Albert comforted her.

"You're too sneaky! You can already use magic, but you're still saying things like that to comfort others. Tom, hit him." Nia grabbed Tom's paw and placed it on Albert's face.

As the night deepened, Nia unknowingly fell asleep.

The door was pushed open, and Daisy and Herb, dressed in pajamas, walked into the room, looking at their sleeping daughter with helplessness.

"She finally fell asleep." Herb picked up Nia and returned to her room.

"Good night, Albert. Get some rest early, don't stay up late. You can read the book tomorrow." Daisy kissed Albert's face and whispered, "Your dad and I won't object to your decision."

"Good night." Albert stifled a yawn and reached out to nudge Tom. The cat just lazily rolled over, seemingly not planning to move.

"Never mind, good night, Tom." Albert pushed the cat aside, adjusted his pillow, found a comfortable position, and lay down, ready to rest. He was very tired too.

But then again, magic truly is a wondrous thing.
