Jay's pov
I wasn't expecting him today.
Not at all. 😳
I hurried into the classroom, my bag bouncing against my side, thinking about the homework I hadn't done and how annoying it would be if the teacher called on me first. I barely glanced inside — and for a second, I didn't even notice him.
Keifer was already there. Sitting casually on his chair like he'd never left.
But I didn't see him.
Instead, I dropped my bag by my desk and plopped down beside Ci-n and David, completely focused on complaining about how impossible the math problems were.
"Ughhh, I swear, if Sir asks us that quadratic thing again, I'll throw my pencil at him," I whispered. 😫✏️
Ci-n snorted. "Same! I haven't even solved half of it."
David rolled his eyes dramatically. "Guys, it's like the math book wants to kill us." 🤦♂️😂
We all giggled, drowning in our usual classroom nonsense. The noise, the chatter, the everyday drama — it felt normal, safe. I almost forgot the knot twisting in my stomach.
And then… I felt it.
A glance.
A presence.
But when I turned my head, my eyes still didn't find him.

I got here early. I wanted to see her before she saw me.
The classroom buzzed like it always did — chaotic, silly, alive. But when she walked in… my heart stopped.
She didn't even notice me. She didn't look up, didn't freeze like she always used to when I showed up. She just smiled at Ci-n and David and began complaining about math homework like everything was ordinary.
For a moment, I almost wanted to call her name, to break the silence, to tell her I'd missed her every day.
But I didn't.
So I stayed quiet. Watched. Let my heart ache in silence while she laughed, unaware that I was right beside her. 😞🔥

It wasn't until one of the boys shouted, "Keifer's here! Keifer's here!!!" that my eyes flicked across the room.
And there he was.
Sitting there. Calm. Smirking. Like he knew exactly what effect he had on people.
My mouth went dry.
My hands froze on my desk.
My heart… it dropped. 💔😵
He's back.
He's here.
For a second, I wanted to run. For another, I wanted to shout at him. But I just sat there, staring, pretending I wasn't affected at all. Don't show it. Don't let them see. 😶
But he had already seen me.
His eyes locked on mine — soft, full of longing, full of hurt.
And then… he looked away before anyone else could notice.

"Finally! Now this class will be even more crazy," David grinned. 🤪
I forced a smile. "Yeah… I guess," I said, though my chest fluttered like a trapped bird.
