Normal POV
Add wasn't sure what to expect when Gray and her master came into contact with the boy who claimed to have just found out they were a magus.
On one hand the boy seemed perfectly innocent to him.
Yet on the other he could smell a disgusting stench that he was intimately familiar with.
The Witch of Greed, Morgan Le Fay.
His creator.
Although most of his memories were a bit messed up and hazy. Add could never forget the way she spiritually felt like.
He saw that same disgusting corruption of mana clinging onto the boy known as Rigel Jones.
If only slightly different.
Different because the boy himself might have a different witch factor that wasn't Greed.
Add frowned as he felt himself getting headache.
Wait was that even possible for someone like him?...Bah! He'd think about that later.
For now, he needed to focus on the second matter that was bothering him.
That subject still being about the boy himself.
There was something oddly familiar about him beside the scent of a witch factor. It fondly reminded him of an old friend that he dearly missed, close to a brother in fact.
But for the life of him he could not remember such a person.
"DAMN IT!! WHY DOES THIS ALL HAVE TO BE SO CONFUSING!!" Add had finally snapped rattling around in his cage.
His sudden outburst echoed through the modest living room.
Waver Velvet jumped out of his skin startled by the shout.
His controller slipped from his hands, clattering loudly against the floor as his RPG-character on-screen was immediately cut down by an enemy he hadn't even registered.
The game's YOU DIED screen flashed mockingly "Fuck!" Waver cursed.
His heart was already pounding, irritation, and shock mixing as he whipped his head around toward the source of the noise.
"Add!" Waver barked, running a hand through his messy hair "what the hell was that for?!"
Gray startled just as badly, reacted very differently.
She had been quietly curled up on the sofa, legs tucked beneath her, a thick fairytale book resting in her lap.
At the sound of Add's voice exploding out of nowhere, she flinched, fingers tightening instinctively around the worn pages. Her hood shifted as she straightened, wide green eyes snapping toward the silver iron cage resting beside her.
"A-Add...?" she murmured softly, confusion clear in her voice.
Inside the cage, Add rattled violently, metal bars clanging as his agitation spilled over.
His earlier frustration hadn't cooled in the slightest in fact, just thinking about the boy again only made it worse.
The scent and the familiarity.
It all twisted together into something he couldn't properly articulate, and that infuriated him more than anything.
Gray stood up quickly, setting her book aside.
She took a step closer, concern knitting her brows as she gently reached for the cage.
"Add, what's wrong?" she asked, voice earnest and worried "y-you're scaring me..."
She gave the cage a light shake, careful not to be rough, but firm enough to demand attention.
The metal chimed softly under her touch.
"Please," she continued, shaking it again "you were fine just a moment ago. Why are you acting like this?"
Add did not respond.
Not a word.
The rattling eventually came to a stop.
Waver narrowed his eyes, annoyance deepening as he leaned forward in his chair "oi don't ignore her," he snapped "if you've got something to say, say it. Yelling like that for no reason isn't funny you damn box!" the professor was still quite pissed at the box for getting his game character killed.
Still Add said nothing.
Inside the cage, Add had turned inward.
He could feel Gray's concern, her confusion, her subtle fear but right now, he couldn't bring himself to acknowledge it.
His thoughts were too tangled, his broken. and messed up memories scraping painfully against one another like broken glass.
That boy.
Rigel Jones.
A glitched image finally comes to his mind.
A familiar golden colored field.
Three kids were running through said field.
A girl with blond hair and green eyes.
Hi҉m҉s҉e҉l҉f҉ running after the girl "wait don't leave me behind A҉r҉t҉i҉e҉! Sir Al is going to catch me!"
"Got you!" a voice exclaims as a pair of arms scoop h҉i҉m҉ and the girl up.
H҉e҉ glances up to see him, a young man wearing a black helmet, a yellow hooded cape, and fully garbed gray armor that covered his chest, arms, and legs.
Underneath said armor the person wore a dark blue tunic and a pair of loose fitted combat trousers.
Looking deep under the slits of his helmet H҉e҉ could see a pair of evil shaped amber eyes staring back at him.
"Aww come on that's not fair you cheated Sir A҉l҉d҉e҉b҉a҉r҉a҉n҉," the green-eyed girl pouted.
"Yeah, you just used that magecraft of yours to catch up with us," the brown-haired boy complained.
Sir A҉l҉d҉e҉b҉a҉r҉a҉n҉ merely gave a light laugh "hey now you two it's not exactly cheating, if there were no rules in the first place."
Add tried his best to focus more on this memory but the sound of Waver shouting broke his concentration "what! An Assassin nearly killed you and Rigel tonight?!...Alright I'll make some phone calls to cover up the park. Get here as soon as you can Flat."
The professor who had once more been interrupted again could only frown in what looked like worry "teacher who was on the phone? What happened to Flat and Rigel?" Gray asked in concern for her fellow student and apprentice.
Waver sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose as if trying to physically hold a migraine in place.
"There's been an incident," his irritation from moments ago had completely drained away, replaced by something heavier "an Assassin attacked them in the park."
Gray's breath hitched.
"A-An Assassin...?" she repeated in worry, fingers tightening at her sides "are Flat and... Rigel okay?"
"Yes," Waver answered grimly "Flat managed to hold out long enough to call me after it was over. Whatever happened out there, it wasn't clean," he straightened, already moving, grabbing his coat from the back of the chair "Rigel took the worst of it as he fought the Assassin head on and now, he's in a state of unconsciousness possibly worse."
Gray's eyes widened, fear blooming openly now "i-is he going to make it?"
"Flat's brining him here now," Waver said immediately, cutting that thought off before it could spiral "I can better assess his situation once they arrive. For now though, I need to make some calls about the damages done at the park."
Gray exhaled shakily, relief and dread mixing together in her chest.
"Why would an Assassin target Rigel...?" she asked, voice small "he only just learned about magecraft."
"Wrong," Waver denied pulling out his phone again along with a cigar to calm his rising stress level "the Assassin wasn't specifically after Rigel but were instead targeting Flat. I suspect his former family members are at foul for this," he explained with genuine anger.
This wasn't the first time an Assassin hired by the Escardos had been sent to kill Flat. Over the years though they've frequently decreased since he took the boy under his wing.
Waver had hoped that at some point they would stop all together with his passive influence being publicly known.
Yet now it seems they came close to murdering not just one of his precious students but two.
It was about high time they learn why Waver Velvet was chosen to be Lord El-Melloi II and managed to become one of the most influential members at the Clocktower.
-end of chapter fourteen-
Well now it seems like Add who is a copy of Sir Kay is not only tweaking out but came close to remembering why Rigel seems familiar, but his memory is still glitchy unfortunately.
Chapter three was edited, regarding the MC's eye color and image appearance please take a look at the chapter or simply just look at the new title image.
