"How did you figure that out?" he grins, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"Because I lived that reality. I could distinguish between my dad's footsteps and anyone else approaching our door. Whether it was her, one of my siblings, or complete silence when the house stood empty. I memorized the distinct sounds each of our three vehicles made. I even knew when my siblings attempted their secret escapes to attend parties.
"Nicholson isn't necessarily more intelligent than Rockford. Both possess remarkable intellect. Their energy flows differently though. When Nicholson locks onto something that captures her attention, nothing on earth can break her concentration until completion. She inherited that trait from you and your father.
