The intern's face drained of color as he stuttered his apologies. "S-Sorry, Dr. Cross. My mistake. I'll handle those Anastasia people immediately."
Anastasia caught Darius's attention, softening his harsh expression slightly. Anyone from Anastasia had either deep pockets or powerful ties. Even if he couldn't curry favor with them, making enemies wasn't smart. "Fine, I'll be there shortly," he muttered, though he remained planted in place.
Karl's panic reached fever pitch. He reached for his phone to contact the Bernard family, but before he could complete the call, the heart monitor erupted into frantic beeping.
The Brent family's head physician burst in, yelling, "Mr. Brent is in crisis! His heart's flatlined. Begin CPR immediately!"
