Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Young Miss Experiencing Life

On the other side, Gu Xiao had already arrived above the main entrance of the Giant City.

She stopped and turned her head to look behind her.

Inside the Steel Giant City, smoke and dust boiled, and the ground constantly vibrated due to the rapid movement of many Mechanical Alien Races.

In the sky, a dense swarm of flying Mechanical Alien Races rushed over, forming a dark, oppressive mass —truly a black cloud pressing down on the city.

Leading the numerous Mechanical Alien Races was a ten-meter-tall Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race. Its entire body shone with a silver-white luster, and its massive form was imprinted with dense, intricate patterns.

On its back were two enormous jet wings, emitting blue shadow beams like fountains, continuously accelerating its pursuit speed.

Its hands were two energy beam emitters, capable of charging up roughly every ten seconds, and they fired at Gu Xiao's back.

In addition, it had missile launch ports on its chest, two steel arms, and the sides of its legs.

However, these missiles had been wiped out in one sweep when Gu Xiao dealt with the missile rain earlier.

Now it could only use beam cannons to intercept Gu Xiao's escape, constantly accelerating, hoping to catch her before she fled the Steel Giant City.

However, although Gu Xiao never looked back, her back seemed to have eyes, easily dodging all attacks from the Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race and the other Mechanical Alien Races.

Wind was everywhere; it provided Gu Xiao with the trajectory of every beam cannon shot, allowing her to evade all attacks from behind without ever turning around.

Although the distance was still relatively far, Gu Xiao, relying on the characteristics of the Wind Element, was already able to sense the realm of this Mechanical Alien Race.

Mid-Captain Rank, its cultivation was slightly higher than Gu Xiao's.

Above the wall of the Steel Giant City, Gu Xiao floated sideways, raising her right hand as a Bladed Gun appeared in her grasp.

She aimed at the Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race and pulled the trigger.

A Spirit Energy Beam shot out, targeting the intelligent core in the head of the Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race.

"Warning, high-threat attack approaching."

The Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race detected Gu Xiao's attack and immediately tried to dodge.

However, Gu Xiao's attack was extremely fast, reaching the Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race in the blink of an eye, leaving it nowhere to hide.

"Activating AT Field Defense."

The space around the Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race trembled slightly, and a blue light screen composed of countless connected pentagons appeared, blocking its path.

"Crack."

The Spirit Energy Beam passed through; the Captain Rank AT Field failed to provide any resistance and was directly penetrated by the Spirit Energy Beam fired by Gu Xiao, piercing its head.

The intelligent core in the Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race's head was destroyed, its eyes, which had been flashing with scarlet light, went dark, and its massive body fell straight down from the sky.

After killing the Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race, Gu Xiao turned and transformed into a streak of light, rushing out of the Steel Giant City's boundaries.

The wind coming from afar told her that more Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Races were already rushing over from other Steel Giant Cities.

"Holy crap, that's amazing."

On the other side, the other Examinees who had fled to the city gate stared dumbfounded as the Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race fell from the sky, expressing their shock.

That was a Captain Rank Mechanical Alien Race! Was it really destroyed so easily with one shot?

Is she even a high school student? First-year students at the Professional Academy should only be at this level, right?

Although their cultivation level prevented them from sensing the realm of that Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race, according to the mission prompts, that Humanoid Mechanical Alien Race had to be at least Captain Rank.

One shot to instantly kill a Rank Wei Mechanical Alien Race —thankfully the Professional Trial wasn't a competition for the final winner, or else they'd be completely screwed.

Speaking of which, have there ever been Examinees this overpowered in previous Professional Trials?

They had heard that talented scions of major families could reach Captain Rank cultivation before the Professional Trial, but they all had internal recommendation slots and didn't need to participate in the Professional Trial at all.

Could this be a young miss from some family who rejected the internal recommendation just to experience life?

While these Examinees were still immersed in Gu Xiao's power, the Mechanical Alien Races inside the city uniformly turned their heads.

Electronic eyes flashing with red light focused on the Examinees nearby. Having lost sight of Gu Xiao, their goal shifted to eliminating the other intruders.

"Intruder detected. Purge. Destroy."

Synthesized electronic sounds rang out, and the Mechanical Alien Races in the city turned their bodies and charged toward the Examinees below the city wall.

"Oh no, run!"

Realizing the Mechanical Alien Races had switched targets to them, the Examinees immediately jolted and used all their abilities, attempting to climb over the wall of the Giant City.

With their cultivation maxing out at Scholar Rank, attempting to blast open the city wall head-on was out of the question.

"Holy crap, is that chick really an Examinee this year? Not only is she ridiculously strong, but she can fly too."

Generally speaking, a Professional must raise their cultivation to General Rank to gain the ability of Aerial Flight.

"That person's Class is clearly related to the Wind Element, so flying is not surprising."

Besides reaching General Rank cultivation, one could also achieve flight by awakening a flight-related Class or learning a flight-type Cultivation Technique.

However, compared to a flight-related Class, cultivating a flight-type Cultivation Technique requires a minimum cultivation level of Captain Rank.

"I was just trying to express my shock. Thank you for answering my question so seriously."

Said the Examinee who had expressed his astonishment earlier.

"You're welcome. I just wanted to show off my knowledge."

The Examinee who answered the question smoothed out his clothes, making himself look Professional.

"Are you two crazy? Hurry up and run!"

Other Examinees nearby couldn't help but complain. What time was it now? They were still joking around here?

The surface of the Steel Giant City wall was extremely smooth, making it genuinely difficult to climb in a short amount of time.

Fortunately, the Examinees cooperated, greatly reducing the difficulty of scaling the wall. Moreover, the Mechanical Alien Races inside the city had already exhausted their existing long-range missiles while pursuing Gu Xiao.

Furthermore, the Mechanical Alien Races rushing over were still far away, and neither their beam rifles nor beam cannons had such a long range, allowing the Examinees to climb out of the Steel Giant City safely, albeit with a fright.

After leaving the Steel Giant City, the outside world formed a stark contrast with the interior of the city.

If the interior of the Steel Giant City was prosperous, dazzling, and full of technological color, then the scene outside the city could only be described as desolate.

An endless expanse of yellowish-brown Gobi Desert, where not a single green plant could be seen.

The Mechanical Alien Race's planet was exactly like this: they would establish Giant Cities and then drain the resources outside the cities to build them up.

Over time, the world outside the Giant Cities became desolate and dead, creating such a massive contrast between the inside and the outside of the city.
