Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Kanjis Ultimate Challenge

The air was thick with the scent of sulfur and magic.

The temple lay in ruins, scorched by lava and torn apart by the previous battles. Yet from the horizon, a storm of shadows rose—a tide of darkness so immense it blotted out the sun.

Ravnos had returned. Not alone this time. From the rift in the sky, the full army of the demon realm poured forth: colossal generals, monstrous beasts, and endless hordes of shadow demons, all answering the call of their master.

Rin and Seiji fortified the remaining wards, their talismans glowing with holy light, but even they could see the futility.

"Kanji… there are too many!" Rin shouted, her voice cracking.

Kanji stood at the temple's edge, the black sword in his hands. Chains of shadow and molten fire spiraled around him, molten and golden light radiating like a storm of living fire. His eyes burned brighter than ever, reflecting both determination and the immense burden of his destiny.

"I… I can't let them win," he whispered, voice steady but firm.

"I will protect everyone… no matter what it takes."

From the rift, Ravnos descended, towering and more terrifying than ever. His wings of shadow stretched wide, molten-gold eyes blazing with fury.

"You have grown, heir of destruction," he said, voice reverberating across the battlefield.

"But this is the end of your defiance. The realms will kneel before me, and your power… will shatter."

Kanji gritted his teeth.

"I am not afraid. I am the heir… and I will decide my own path."

With a deafening roar, he surged forward. The black sword glowed with forbidden magic, chains lashing outward like living serpents, tearing through the first waves of demons with effortless precision.

Ravnos unleashed his full might—rivers of shadow erupted from his wings, colliding with Kanji's molten aura. The impact created shockwaves that leveled mountains and sent molten rivers boiling into the sky.

Kanji felt the pulse of the sword, his father's legacy merging fully with his own power. He closed his eyes, drawing deeper into the forbidden magic. Energy surged through him, molten and shadow flames intertwining, forming a crown of unstoppable force.

"I… will… protect them!" Kanji shouted, and the energy erupted outward like a supernova, vaporizing hundreds of demons instantly and forcing the generals to retreat.

Ravnos growled, circling Kanji.

"You cannot hold this power forever. You will burn yourself out!"

Kanji met his uncle's gaze, unwavering.

"I am not afraid of burning… as long as I can protect them!"

The two collided midair, black sword clashing against Ravnos's shadow claws. Energy exploded in waves, fracturing the temple grounds, cracking mountains, and shaking the rift that connected the realms.

For the first time, Kanji felt the true weight of his destiny. The prophecy whispered in his mind, the Child of Destruction not as a warning, but as a choice. Every strike he landed, every demon he felled, every surge of forbidden magic tested the limits of his will.

Ravnos lunged again, faster, stronger, shadow and fire colliding in a blinding explosion. But Kanji did not falter. He swung the black sword with precision and control, chains extending to ensnare the generals, molten energy ripping through the battlefield.

The air trembled as molten and shadow energy collided, creating a storm of unprecedented power. The ground split, rivers of lava boiled, and the sky burned with molten lightning.

Rin and Seiji watched in awe and terror, shielding themselves from the unleashed energies.

"He… he's holding his own against Ravnos and the entire army!" Rin shouted.

"He's… he's controlling the forbidden magic like it's part of him!" Seiji added.

Kanji's golden eyes narrowed, aura flaring to its maximum. He could feel the pulse of the sword, his father's presence guiding him.

"This… ends… now!" he roared, and with a massive leap, he charged at Ravnos, sword glowing brighter than the sun.

The clash was cataclysmic. Molten light, shadow, fire, and magic collided in a storm that shook both realms. Mountains split, rivers boiled, and the rift above the temple widened, threatening to swallow everything.

Kanji's heart burned with determination, his will unbreakable. The Child of Destruction had fully awakened—not as a tool of prophecy, but as a protector, a master of his own destiny, and the ultimate force standing between the mortal realm and Ravnos's annihilation.

And as the sword struck Ravnos with unrelenting force, a shockwave rippled through the battlefield:

The ultimate battle had begun.
