Chapter 4 - Chapter 04 — Let’s Make It to the Second Floor First…

[Evan]

Level: Lv. 1

Strength: B725 → B761

Endurance: B782 → A803

Dexterity: B745 → B772

Agility: B774 → B797

Magic: C623 → C639…

As she looked over the status screen appearing on the boy's back, Astraea lowered her gaze slightly.

The growth was—as always—enormous.

Every day, he gained at least one to two hundred points of total ability. By any standard, that kind of pace was absurdly fast.

The gods' blessing translated the lower world's children's physical capabilities into concrete numerical values.

And then, based on their daily "performance," they accumulated experience. As long as they truly fought monsters or enemies, they would improve—effort was rewarded with visible progress.

But everyone's talent was different, so their growth speed and potential limits were different as well.

And at Evan's current level…

Among Lv. 1 adventurers in Orario, he was already firmly in the "top-tier" bracket.

Plenty of adventurers, due to lack of talent, couldn't even raise their stats to C. They'd get stuck in the D range—five to six hundred—and plateau there.

About that, Astraea remained fairly calm.

In her former Familia, children this "gifted" weren't unheard of.

Take Ryuu, for example: the elf girl had come to Orario and reached Lv. 2 in just one year. Three years later, when the Great Feud ended, she became Lv. 4. Her growth rate was fast enough to rival Loki Familia's greatest prodigy—"Sword Princess" Ais Wallenstein.

Speaking of which… a few days ago Loki had bragged, as if on purpose, that Ais was close to reaching Lv. 5 already.

So fast…

If Astraea remembered correctly, Ais had reached Lv. 4 during the "Nightmare of the 27th Floor," right?

And now, in only two years, she was about to become a first-class adventurer…

Orario never lacked geniuses.

In every era, there were children as dazzling as the sun—walking at the very front of Dungeon exploration, becoming legends praised by countless bards.

Even now, what still left Astraea puzzled…

Were Evan's skills and magic—

[Skills]

"Hated Otherworldly Visitor"

Only takes effect while inside the Dungeon

Hated by the Dungeon

The surrounding terrain may change at any time, and special monsters may appear

"Character Save File"

The number and strength of character cards increase with the user's level

Origins available: Reed Country, Golden Age, End-of-Fire Apocalypse, Night of the Hunt, Puppet Kingdom, Godslaying Expedition, Journey West Revisited…

Obtained character cards:

"Reed Country · Lv. 1" (in use)

Sword Saint Secret Art — increases proficiency with all weapon types; allows dual-wielding different weapon types in each hand

Healing Gourd — restores the user's injuries; usable 3 times; uses refresh at midnight

Dragon Heir's Power — upon being killed, can revive; max revives: 1; once consumed, can replenish revive points by killing monsters; uses refresh at midnight

[Magic]

Perfect Mastery — can read "combat techniques" from the currently equipped weapon and use them

Quick-Activation Magic

Fragmented Narrative — can read text information from items

Quick-Activation Magic

Staring at that dense wall of information—skills and magic all appearing at once—Astraea could only say the same thing as always:

She didn't understand it.

But she was deeply, profoundly impressed.

What even is all this?!

The magic was still… manageable.

Especially Perfect Mastery—in practical terms, any weapon Evan used could grant him a corresponding "combat technique." That was a powerful, highly practical kind of magic.

Because if you carried more weapons, you could obtain a wide variety of techniques—then mix and match them.

Just imagining it was frightening.

After all, an adventurer's magic slots were normally capped at three.

Only a handful of truly special individuals could break that limit—like Loki Familia's Riveria, whose spells could take three different forms depending on the chant, allowing her to wield nine variations of magic.

But Evan's skills?

Astraea still couldn't make head or tail of them.

She simply couldn't grasp it…

Adventurer skills were usually tied to a person's experiences and personality. Sometimes, after something sudden and life-changing happened, a new skill would manifest.

So what on earth had this boy gone through…

To end up with something this complicated?

Still, Astraea didn't dwell on it.

Skills that even gods couldn't interpret or understand were not uncommon. That, too, was part of the "fun" of gods coming down to the lower world.

"Children's possibilities are limitless."

It was a phrase the gods loved to repeat.

The gods came down from heaven, sealed their divine power, and walked the lower world in mortal bodies in search of entertainment. Finding truly unusual children was part of that amusement.

…But wasn't this one a bit too unusual?!

Evan's skills were deeply tied to the Dungeon. That was probably why, after he arrived in Orario, his status began to skyrocket.

At this pace, as long as he had enough "great feats," he could become Lv. 2 at any time.

It was far faster than back in Solingen.

Back then, Astraea, Cecil, and Evan had lived near the forest on the outskirts of the city, in a small wooden house they built themselves.

Aside from occasionally clearing monsters that wandered nearby, the goddess would also "train" her two children.

As the Goddess of Justice, Astraea was hardly some fragile, gentle big sister.

Her swordsmanship was refined enough to fight high-level adventurers.

The former Familia captain—and even Ryuu Lion—had suffered plenty of her "brutal lessons."

And thanks to that, Cecil had reached Lv. 2, gained the developmental ability [Blacksmithing], and become a proper smith.

Before coming to Orario, Evan's stats had all reached at least D, making him a veteran Lv. 1 adventurer who could level up at any time.

But "D" was merely the minimum requirement to level up.

For talented adventurers, the better choice was to keep accumulating stats—wait until growth truly stalled—then level up.

Now, Astraea felt the time was about right.

At least, it was worth considering.

Whether he leveled up immediately or not, they could first secure the necessary great feat.

"All right. Go rest."

She copied his status into a sheet of paper in the common tongue, handed it to him, and also delivered the good news: he could level up whenever he wished.

As for Evan—

He felt no excitement at all.

Because his current goal was actually—

[Let's make it to the Dungeon's second floor first.]
