Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Chapter Three

Ethan's POV

I searched throughout the stormy night for Henry. I refused to believe anything

happened to him. Deep into the night, I still continued my search. As I was close to

giving up, I stumbled on a flash of light from afar. My hope was suddenly ignited. I

ran as fast as I could. I slipped and fell a few times, but I got up and made my way

towards the light. As I got closer, I heard some moans coming from the cave. I instinctively thought

there was no way that Henry would be here. I almost turned around, but something

made me take a look inside the cave. There they were, two of them, pressed

together with each other. I thought it was two random people in there, but as I took

a closer look, what I saw made my heart and brain stop functioning for a second. There was no way—impossible. I tried to scream, but my throat tightened on me; no

sound came out even with my mouth open. I stood there watching them together—

Andrew and Henry together, pressed together with Henry on his knees. I felt like

someone punched me in the gut.

I refused to believe what I was seeing, but there it was—the truth right before my

eyes. Deny it as much as I wanted, it was still happening. I stood in the rain watching

both of them together, unable to move or even scream at both of them. If it was

another person, I would have understood, but it was our chief tormentor ever since

We started the camp. Why? I couldn't understand why on earth he was doing that. I

instinctively thought he was being forced, but then I saw him nod his head. It

shattered my heart further. This was someone who hated both of us and spent his

time tormenting us along with his gang, so why on earth was he doing anything with

him? I was deeply confused, but at the same time, I was also angry. As angry as I was

confused, I was pissed. I thought of going in there with something and smacking him

with it on his head—the fucker, that Andrew—but I just hid and listened to the

sounds of them go at it all night till they both got tired and fell asleep.

I hid when I heard them coming to the edge to wash themselves up. I watched them

wash up and look like a happy couple. All that I was seeing was making me boil, and I

was angry—and I don't like being angry, because when I get angry I do crazy things. And they're going to find out just how crazy I can get when someone makes me

angry, I say, smiling to myself.

I walked around thinking, then I saw it—and I smiled. The bear, walking around

aimlessly. A crazy idea came into my head and I was starting to like the way I was

thinking. Then I decided, if I can't have him, I'll be his ruin. With an evil smirk, I

thought of ways to provoke the bear and have it chase after me, which was easy to

do. It started to chase after me, and I led the bear straight to the cave and was able

to escape while the bear continued aimlessly into the cave. While hiding, I saw Andrew outside running towards the cave as he must have heard

the sound of the bear. I was stunned and shocked—if Andrew was out here, who

was there? No, no, no, I screamed in my mind. I tried running towards the cave

but stopped in case Andrew saw me. I stood behind and was panicking. I heard him

try to attract the attention of the bear. I heard Henry scream from inside the cave

and was filled with fear. If anything happened to him, I would never forgive myself

ever as long as I lived on this earth.

I saw Andrew was able to attract the bear's attention to himself and make it leave

the cave, but not before it swatted him with its paw. I wanted to wait, but Henry's

situation was still unknown, so I thought of what to do. Since bears were scared of

fire, I quickly made one and was able to make one quickly. Luckily, I was able to

chase the bear away. I went back and saw Andrew struggling, and out of anger—

remembering what I saw last night—I hit him hard on the head with the stick I had

on me and he passed out.

I quickly went to the cave and saw Henry lying there in a pool of his own blood. I was

shocked. I was angry at myself, but quickly calmed down. I thought of what I could

do and different scenarios in my head. I saw something sharp on the floor and an

idea quickly popped up in my head, so I took it and gritted my teeth and slashed my

arm open. Then I tied it and then I took Henry back to the camp-house. There we

met the camp heads and they took us both to a nearby hospital. I never mentioned

anything about that asshole; he could go to hell for all I cared, I said, smiling to

myself. At least my

Henry was safe and still with me, I said, smiling before the drugs

administered by the nurse put me to sleep.

Henry__

I saw someone succeed in driving the bear away from the cave, and they were

struggling to come back inside the cave, but someone attacked them from behind. I

couldn't see who either was before I lost consciousness.

Andrew___

I walked around a bit from the cave, feeling sad and angry at the way I behaved

toward Henry earlier. When I woke up, I was so overwhelmed with shame and anger

at myself for the previous night's events and I made him feel like trash—the asshole

that I am. I thought of going back, but I hesitated, still in conflict with myself. Then

I heard the sound of an angry bear near the cave and I was filled with dread. Rushing

back, I saw the bear going into the cave. I was scared shitless—Henry, he's still in there!

There was nothing I could do, so I mustered up the courage and ran in the cave after

it without thinking.

I saw it slapping Henry onto the walls of the cave. I screamed out his name, "Henry!" and that got the attention of the bear, and it followed me out. Confused, I tried

rounding the bear, looking for something to hurt it with, but I made a mistake and

stumbled and fell. As I was trying to get up, the bear's paw hit me and slapped me

back down. I coughed up blood and it hurt like hell, then I heard someone else

scream and succeed in chasing it away. I was happy, and then I tried crawling to the

cave—getting up hurt a lot, so I crawled and dragged my body to the cave. In there I

found Henry lying down, wounded and bleeding. I tried moving faster, but then I felt

a hard blow to the back of my head and I fell unconscious. Waking up, I found myself in the hospital with my parents beside me and my mom

looking worried. I called out and they all rushed towards me, happy that I woke up. I

asked about Henry and they were all confused, asking who he was, but I couldn't

bring myself to explain who he was to me, so I kept quiet. They soon forgot I asked

about him, but could I ever forget? Never. I don't think I would
