Chapter 5 - The Escaped Devil

The sound of the waves tonight was so calm, but would that calmness be the same as the heart of a very restless person sitting on the doorstep?

Staring out at the calm beach. Tonight the moonlight was slightly covered by black clouds.

A strong gust of wind blew, Bella, this beautiful girl, was very restless. Because for 2 weeks Brian had not set foot in the house at all.

"What is happening to me? A few days ago I met a strange young man, who was very emotional. He was handsome, with such captivating charisma, for women, Brian might be an ideal figure. But what if the person you consider perfect actually has a psychological flaw and an odd personality? If we really want to be with someone, then the assessment you have to make is not just about their appearance, but also their personality. My heart truly cares about him, I don't know since when that happened. The first time I met him, I didn't have any feelings for him, only pity and sympathy. But our second meeting gave me an interesting fact and made me so curious to uncover the facts of his past life," Bella whispered, her eyes still observing the calm beach.

"Where are you?" she thought. Bella shook her head, then pulled the corner of her lips into a small smile.

"Even though you're a stranger, when you're away from me, somehow it feels so quiet. Forget it! Why should I think about someone who isn't worth thinking about at all?" Bella said as she walked into Brian's old house.

Elsewhere, a grand plan had been planned long in advance by several involved parties.

Several armed men in black clothes, and black masks covering their faces, concealed their identities behind the masks.

Before entering the large building with the sign "Bank," they sent a young man inside to destroy the entire CCTV system.

Several people inside were held hostage, and others were forced to open the vault.

The opening of the vault provided an advantage; quickly, several of the hostage-takers began taking the money.

Quite sure that the money he needed had been taken, a young man who was also hiding his identity approached his subordinates.

"Good, this is enough! Let's go now!" The young man said to his subordinates.

"Mr. Brian, the other alpha team has completed their task!" one of his subordinates explained. Hearing his subordinate's words, the man, who was none other than Brian, smiled faintly.

"Good, leave this place immediately!" Brian said.

Brian gave instructions for his men to leave immediately. Without hesitation, Brian's subordinates followed his orders.

As they exited the bank, rows of Japanese FBI agents surrounded them. Brian watched them.

Many weapons were pointed at him. Among the FBI agents stood a young man his age, who was none other than Inspector Han.

"Drop the money and stay there!" Han shouted loudly; it was a warning directed at Brian.

Instead, Brian gave Han a cunning smirk. Some of Brian's subordinates also began pointing their weapons at the FBI agents.

"Surrender is not our tradition, Inspector! But struggling and then dying on the battlefield is an honor!" Brian lectured him.

Brian proudly explained this to Han, his sapphire blue eyes staring sharply at Han. Han's forehead furrowed; he truly did not understand Brian's thinking, which he found so strange.

"Answer my question now! Is this a battlefield?" Han asked him. A wicked laugh began to echo from Brian's lips, accompanied by small claps.

"This world has become a battlefield when justice is no longer upheld!" Brian explained to Han.

"What do you mean? Justice still applies in every country!" Han said to him.

Brian smiled faintly in response. From the sky above, a helicopter could be seen stopping right over the Bank building.

Slowly, the helicopter began looking for a landing spot. Several FBI agents tried to move away, not knowing that the helicopter was not assistance for them, but for Brian.

"Sorry, but we're running out of time! Let us go, or the same thing will happen again!" Brian said to Han.

Brian showed a small remote with one red button. Inspector Han was shocked to see it; his hands clenched tightly, wishing he could finish off the young man behind the black mask.

But he knew for sure, that small remote was a bomb remote. They had planted a bomb inside the bank as a threat to Han.

Brian's sapphire blue eyes still watched Inspector Han carefully.

Brian was already inside the helicopter, right at the entrance.

The helicopter slowly began to ascend after confirming all his allies were inside. Han lost control, quickly drawing his pistol and aiming precisely at his target above.

Bang!

Brian dodged the quick shot, but it was futile; his leg was hit, and he let out a small groan.

"Who are these people? How wicked are their deeds?" Inspector Han muttered.

Brian, wounded inside the helicopter, slowly began to treat his own injury.

"Are you alright, Sir?" one of the subordinates asked.

"Yes, calm down, it's just a small wound!" Brian said.

"Young Master Eddie really wants to meet you. Why don't you return to the headquarters?" one of his subordinates asked Brian.

"I'm waiting for a report from my man whom I sent to America to complete a task!" Brian replied to him.

Hearing that, one of the subordinates nodded slightly. Thunder began to rumble in the sky above, and a heavy downpour started to fall hard.

Brian rubbed his palms together; the cold air made him shiver slightly.

"It's so cold!" Brian said.

"The rain is quite heavy today, Young Master!" one of his subordinates explained. Brian nodded upon hearing that.

"Drop me at the beach headquarters!" Brian commanded.

"Understood, Sir!" they replied to Brian.

Brian tried to treat his wound again while waiting for his destination to arrive.

A few minutes later, Brian's destination arrived. A rope from inside the helicopter was lowered until it touched the ground. Brian descended from the helicopter using the rope.

The heavy downpour still accompanied Brian's steps as he walked into his old beachfront house.

The rain outside was still very heavy. Brian shivered when he was inside the house. He locked the door and walked toward his room with a slightly shaky gait.

His eyes accidentally caught sight of a girl asleep in the dining room. His heart warmed when he saw that peaceful, sleeping face.

Brian approached the sleeping Bella, observing her peaceful face for a moment.

"It's been 2 weeks since I came home, but why is she still here?" Brian murmured. His strong hands began to lift Bella, carrying her into the room, and laying her body on the bed.

Brian, meanwhile, lay down on the sofa not far from his bed.

That night, a rainstorm poured over the city of Tokyo non-stop, rain accompanied by the echo of thunder.

Brian felt an extreme cold, perhaps because of his wound, which he had only treated casually without removing the bullet from his leg, or because the rain outside had drenched his body.

The clock struck exactly midnight. Bella began to open her eyes, startled to see herself on the bed.

Many questions were in her mind right now, but those questions began to be answered when her eyes caught a young man sleeping on the sofa.

A feeling of happiness overwhelmed her heart. Bella got up from her bed and approached Brian, who was sleeping on the sofa. When she was right in front of Brian, she was very surprised.

A pale face and a leg wrapped in blood-soaked cloth. Bella knew well that the cloth was to stop the bleeding from the wound underneath.

"What happened to you? You just got home, why are you injured?" Bella wondered.

Bella took a blanket from her bed, then returned to Brian, covering the shivering Brian with the blanket.

A small initiative arose. Bella walked quietly towards the kitchen, taking a container filled with warm water and a small towel. Soon she returned to Brian, who was sleeping. Her hands began to deftly care for Brian with full affection.

The warm, small towel placed on his forehead made Brian slightly stir. Brian vaguely opened his eyes.

Trying to focus his gaze on Bella, his heart was truly touched when his eyes observed what Bella was doing. Brian gave her a wistful look.

"What happened to you?" Bella asked him. Bella tried to ask Brian, who was watching her.

Brian closed his eyes for a moment, his hands clenching tightly. With the remaining strength he had, he stopped Bella's hand, which was about to put the small towel on his forehead. Brian changed his position to sit up.

"Enough!!! Don't give me fake sympathy!" Brian said to her. Bella was surprised to hear that.

"Why, I'm not expecting anything! For now, just listen to me and drop your ego!" Bella said firmly.

Bella tried to be firm. Hearing that, Brian exhaled roughly.

Brian tried to force himself to stand up and walk toward his bed, even with difficulty and a shaky gait.

"Be quiet and don't talk anymore! You know, you are nobody! Leave me alone, let me rest!" Brian said irritably to Bella.

Brian lay his body on the bed, trying to fall asleep, but still, the feeling of pity was in Bella's heart.

Her stubbornness countered Brian's stubbornness. Bella approached Brian, who was closing his eyes on the bed, and sat beside him.

"I'll be quiet, but at least let me take care of you! I just want you to be okay!" Bella insisted. Brian resigned himself to hearing that, and Bella began to care for him again.

"Why are you still here?" Brian asked faintly, his eyes still closed, feeling the warmth of the small towel on his forehead.

"The agreement was one month, right?" Bella replied with a smile.

"I left this house for weeks, and you didn't leave?" Brian said, trying to question Bella again.

"I'm glad you're home!" Bella said to him sincerely. Bella offered a short but sweet answer, touching Brian's heart again.

'No one has ever cared about me like this, no one has ever nursed and looked after me with such compassion! What is it about this girl, why does her sympathy make my heart feel so warm?' Brian thought.

Brian gently held Bella's wrist, trying to guide Bella's palm toward his face.

"What are you doing?" Bella gasped.

"Mother!" Brian whispered.

Brian gently kissed Bella's soft hand. Hearing that small word from Brian made Bella smile slightly.

"Can I tell you one thing, Bella?" Brian asked her. Bella hummed softly in response to Brian's words.

"I miss you!" Brian said. Bella was surprised to hear that. She was so happy that it made her smile thinly.

"For the first time, someone truly cares about me. I haven't felt anything like this for fourteen years, this thing you're giving me!" Brian explained to her.

Finally, Brian began to open up to Bella. Bella truly did not understand what had happened in Brian's past.

Bella strongly wanted to uncover the mystery behind his nature. Sometimes the young man in front of her was so indifferent and cold, sometimes caring, and sometimes his nature was so kind and warm.

The erratic changes in his personality made Bella so sure that the young man in front of her had experienced a great shock in his life.

"I understand, and I get it!" Bella said to him, smiling at Brian.

Slowly, Brian began to open his eyes, looking directly at the girl beside him, who was smiling at him.

He pulled the girl gently but quickly towards him until Bella fell right on top of Brian. His strong hands began to lock Bella in, hugging her.

"Just let it be like this for tonight," Brian pleaded with Bella.

Bella was still in shock, being in the warm embrace of a young man for the first time.

Perhaps Brian's unwell condition made him fall asleep within minutes. Bella slowly began to wake up and released Brian's hug.

Returning to a sitting position, her eyes tried to look at Brian's face, which was so peacefully asleep.

Her hand reached out to touch the top of the young man's head, touching his charming blonde hair. Bella gave him a gentle stroke there.

"I don't understand your thought process at all, and I don't understand your changes in nature at all! But I believe one thing: you are a good young man!" Bella whispered.
