"You...you..." Seeing Yin Xiu say he wanted to kill Xing Shen in such a calm tone, the people around him still looked incredulous.
Even Yin Tianrui, who had proposed killing the high priest, was taken aback.
"Killing the high priest is more plausible, but killing a god is unlikely, and besides... can a god really be killed?"
Yin Xiu's expression was indifferent, as if he had nothing to do with it, "Why don't we try and see? Let's give it a try first."
Everyone remained silent, some even a little confused. Is being a god of death something you can just try out on a whim?
Some people even cautiously tugged at Yin Tianrui, muttering, "Is he not quite right in the head? Does he have...paranoia?"
Such arrogant and audacious behavior is truly unimaginable in their living environment. As slaves about to spend their lives in misery, how could they one day encounter someone who wanted to kill the god of happiness?
Killing the high priest seemed a long shot, let alone a god!
"I don't know if he has any illnesses, but he's really strong. It's hard for me to describe to you. He's definitely different from us slaves of Twin City." The moment Yin Tianrui saw Yin Xiu draw his sword, he knew that this person's level was above the entire Twin City.
He appeared calm and indifferent at the moment, without much emotion. His tone was light and airy, and he seemed cold and unapproachable. However, this calm and indifferent feeling would be completely changed the moment he drew his sword, becoming worlds apart from his current demeanor.
Those cold, suffocating eyes can silently choke a person's breath, witnessing the moment death descends upon them.
Rumors circulated in the city that Death would take lives, and Yin Xiu exuded a similar feeling; he could bring death.
Whether the deaths he brought could change the entire Twin Cities was a bold adventure for Yin Tianrui.
The others in the room still didn't understand Yin Tianrui's thoughts and actions. They shook their heads, still thinking it was impractical. Nevertheless, slaves always stick together for warmth, and they respected Yin Tianrui's plan and did their best.
"If you really want to see the High Priest, you can dress up as slaves and come with me to the main city," one of the gaunt women said in a low voice.
She glanced at the little boy holding the candy, then looked up at Yin Xiu. "My job includes delivering vegetables to the main city. There's a special passage for slaves, used to transport goods to the main city. That passage has fewer guards than the main city gate. If you disguise yourself, I can take you in."
"But once we enter the main city… I won't be able to help you much." The woman gave a bitter smile. "I'll only be responsible for delivering things. Slaves aren't allowed to stay in the main city for too long."
"Great! Thanks, sis!" Yin Tianrui replied happily, then turned to look at Yin Xiu, "Shall we go to the main city together at daybreak tomorrow?"
Yin Xiu glanced at him sideways, "You're going too?"
There was a hint of disdain in his tone.
The main reason is that he is used to going it alone. He can kill a god by himself. Bringing Yin Tianrui along would only cause trouble.
"Um...it's because you're not familiar with the main city, so I'll go with you and show you around." Yin Tianrui ignored Yin Xiu's slight disdain and treated him with great hospitality.
"You're already familiar with the main city?"
"Of course!" Yin Tianrui proudly puffed out his chest. "I used to live in the main city! I was one of the high priest's men!"
Yin Xiu stared at him silently. "So, you've become a slave too?"
Yin Tianrui chuckled twice, and the person next to him explained in a low voice, "He was punished by being made a slave for pointing out that the rules in Twin City were becoming increasingly harsh and that the gods were no longer like gods."
Yin Xiu looked at Yin Tianrui in silence again, "Commendable courage."
Yin Tianrui's eyes sparkled. "So, the big boss is willing to take me with him?"
"I still find you troublesome." Yin Xiu turned his head away and found a place to sit down by himself.
Yin Tianrui was on the verge of tears. Although he was really of no use, the big boss didn't seem to have directly refused to let him go. He would just have to go tomorrow, even if the big boss didn't know the way. In case the big boss really didn't know the way, he could help!
The few slaves in the room were discussing how to help them tomorrow without causing trouble. The little boy, perhaps because of those few candies, had developed a liking for Yin Xiu. He didn't say anything, but just stood near Yin Xiu, wanting to get closer but not daring to.
Yin Tianrui was discussing and arranging accommodations for Yin Xiu. "Tonight, Boss, you should stay here for a while. Only we will be here, and no one will bother you. But we have to go back soon, otherwise we'll get beaten up if we don't check the numbers enough."
"Yes, we will send you some food and things you need for the night. The slaves have the least shortage of supplies. You can ask me for anything you need."
"And tonight, the divine messenger... will definitely come looking for you, so please be careful."
The slaves were very worried about Yin Xiu's situation, but Yin Xiu simply nodded calmly, "Don't worry, I won't let anyone else find out about me."
He understood that the best silence is to never speak.
The slaves nodded, still feeling uneasy as they looked at Yin Xiu. Were they really going to take such a risk in such a long and unsettling environment? Just because of a man who had suddenly appeared and whom they knew nothing about? Could they really trust that he could bring new hope rather than greater disaster?
But the slaves thought about it again and felt relieved. Could there be a more miserable life than they were living now?
It's just going from bad to worse; they can get used to it no matter how bad it gets, that's how they've always been.
Having figured it out, the group stopped questioning Yin Xiu's actions. All they needed to do was provide cover, and the rest... was up to fate.
Yin Xiu stared out the window at the streets of this abandoned area, at the slaves coming and going, but his heart remained unmoved.
"Brother, what are you looking at?" The little boy who had been lingering around Yin Xiu seemed to have finally mustered up the courage to talk to him. He had hidden the candy somewhere and was no longer holding that handful of candy in his hands.
"Looking at the people here." Yin Xiu turned and glanced at him.
The little boy, with his hands in his pockets, stiffly and cautiously took a step toward Yin Xiu, trying to get the attention of this strange older brother and strike up a conversation with him. "The people here are all the same every day, there's nothing to see."
"To be honest, I don't like the people here because they never smile, they're always unhappy, and they don't fight back when they lose something."
Yin Xiu glanced at the young boy, who looked so old and gloomy, and said, "Then you certainly wouldn't have liked me back then."
"Huh?" The little boy stared at Yin Xiu with a puzzled look. "Brother looks different from them. Brother's eyes have a light in them! Theirs don't."
